I saw that some people wanted the difference between night and day lighting to be made more realistic. So, I went through and modified all of the default materials for the game to do just that. Look at this screenshot of Bonfire Island at night!

Installing this mod should be pretty straightforward, which is why I didn't include a readme file. However, here are the basic instructions: put all files in their corresponding folders and overwrite when prompted. Now your FH looks a little more realistic!

Known issues:
Shading is incompatible with things shown under water when the camera is above water while using water reflection. In other words, if you are above the water and somebody else is underwater, the other person appears to glow.
Sometimes the waterfalls in Sky's Rim appear black, and water smoke looks like actual smoke.
This mod appears to not work on the Macintosh port of Feral Heart. If you are using a Mac, do not install this mod until I make a Mac version.

Thanks! Just.....don't freak out because of the insane darkness in the caves. I'm also already aware of pixel-jumping on reflective water, so don't complain about that please!

I just noticed. And with my already glowing eyed preset omg it's just. I love this so much ;3
Edit: I think one thing you should to do make it not too dark is notch the ambient up maybe to .2 or .3 But that's my opinion, so yeah

I think you installed it wrong if the objects are dark in the day time. If you are using FH+, that may be why. As for the yellow-looking thing, that's only in maps with very yellow lighting. It's realistic in most standard maps. Look out your window in the middle of the day, and you will see.

I don't use FH+, im using the regular FH. I don't think i installed it wrong, everything in the sky folder i replaced with the new files, everything in the objects folder i replaced with the new files etc. Could you maybe assist me? Give me instructions in case i did install it wrong? I would really like to use this mod :)

Okay, I've tested it. No clue why it isn't working, to tell you the truth! The material is identical to the green leaves other than the texture. I'll try to fix it ASAP.

That seems to be a somewhat common problem. The download overwrites some particles, so make sure that you actually overwrote everything, and of course check for double particles. Also, try switching rendering systems (the thing to change it should pop up when restarting after a crash).
If you are using a MAC, I wouldn't recommend this mod until I figure out why it crashes some MAC users (a few people who reported this same problem are using a MAC). It'll take a while though because I don't have a MAC.....yet.

It is very pretty, thanks for taking your time to make it. ^^ But, I'm affraid I might change my mind if I want it or not, and I was a floof-brain and forgot to copy the original files. This doesn't replace any textures. You can get a separate installation to get the files anyway, since it's only the material files, so I won't provide backups.

I tested this mod on a new installation of FH. I think you installed it wrong. If you are using a Mac, I would not recommend using this mod, as people with Macs often report problems.

Muuuuch too dark for my liking. even in the daytime, anything not being directly hit by sunlight is nearly pitch black, even full white fur. No-no.

No, the white fur doesn't become pitch black. Your screen may be displaying it that way if it's very old or not very bright (bright screens are best for games). Or you need a new graphics card. Nothing becomes pitch black unless it was very dark before.
Just so you know, the lighting is realistic. The shading happens in real life, too.

All they did was change the shaders so its darker during night sessions, I dont think it would screw anything up during the daytime and whatnot.

For some reason, the download wont work, it begins to download....but seems like it will tkae 5 hours to move an inch. It never does that, maybe the link is broken or something?

Okay, so I downloaded it, but then decided I didn't want to use it because I normally spent my time in the caves, but now I can't get everything back to the way it was, so now everything just stays dark, and I can't see. Please help A.S.A.P.

Sirea, I had the same problem a while ago. Copy your FH file, and uninstall Feralheart. Redownload, and put everything back, besides the night mod.

Alright, I tried to uninstall it but I couldn't figure out how. I think I'll just have to wait until he finishes making the uninstall file to play on the game again. I hope he finishes it soon though.

Yeah, you can't really fix that. You should've made a backup of your folders before installing the mod :P You may have to delete the Feralheart folder and re-install/re-download the game. Otherwise you can wait until I get my computer back if you want me to upload the files myself.

I think you installed it wrong if the objects are dark in the day time. If you are using FH+, that may be why. As for the yellow-looking thing, that's only in maps with very yellow lighting. It's realistic in most standard maps. Look out your window in the middle of the day, and you will see.

Didn't quite get used to the yellow hue it gave to some objects and the color it gave to my white characters, so ended up uninstalling it. :c
But it's a very creative mod though. Must have taken a load of time to make this and make it work with FH.

The night looks nice, but day kinda freaks me out. It should have an uninstaller. But I had to redownload FH so I don't have the mod anymore. It did look beautiful though~

When I download it my whole FH looks very yellow and all of my wolves are yellow/brown, too. I don't know if it's because of this mod, I also downloaded others, but I'm pretty sure it's because of this one. The objects are very dark during daytime, too, though I'm very sure I installed it right :C

How to uninstall;
1. Copy Items file, Items.cfg, Textures, and Markings.cfg
2. Paste them somewhere safe like on your desktop.
3. get a backup of the game that is not modded from backup in computer
4. delete media
5. Insert the fresh media files
6. delete items + textures that were fresh
7. Paste the Items file,Items.cfg, Textures, markings.cfg, from your safe place into the media, .cfgs go in main
8. Make sure it worked 9. Enjoy!

ive downloaded the mod,and did what my friend who has it told me to do,i replaced the media files with the mods media files,but mad a folder for the origanl,and when i go to star fh back up ,all it does it crash instantly.. ither something im doing wrong,btw its an amazing mod...

The eyelid isn't shaded, so it looks like it's awkwardly glowing. Is there a fix for this?

Hello yes hello, I've just downloaded this. I must say, shading on everything is beautiful, stunning! But, the only problem is the characters' shading. With a few of mine, they are either completely orange, or pitch black, and I cannot see anything! ;-; Help? Or at least, help me reverse everything so I can try to replace them with the original files again?

This mod, is beautifully. Absolutely outstanding.
I only have one complaint, it doesn't seem to work with either of my presets. These aren't very vibrant. One is almost entirely grayscale and the other is a mix of brown and white. the shading doesn't seem to affect them compared to normal characters.. Possible to make it affect presets?
