Since They're Gone

One thousand years in to the future, a world free from man, lives a world which is slowly healing. Many years since disease and chaos wiped out the human race, animals now live and strive; without habitat destruction, poachers, pollution and many other human related causes. Dogs and cats are no longer pets to humans, nor locked up in shelters - they now live wild and free. Over the years which humans have been gone, dogs have managed to survive and live on for many years; they've learnt to hunt and fight like that of the wolf, becoming equal in comparison to the wolf, but still different in so many ways. Now wild and free, though, everyday being a fight for survival. Not only do larger predators such as; wolves, bears, mountain lions, snakes and such pose a threat to the dogs, it's said that some were taken over by the disease. Most dogs appeared to be immune, or lucky, that they didn't contract the disease - but a small few weren't so lucky; now sick and twisted, rather insane - they lurk in the shadows, watching. They're always watching. A blood lust like no other, now changed to kill and hurt, spread disease. A creature to be avoided. Despite the disease still lingering, most have proven to have some sorts of immunity, only the weak and young being likely to contact such a disease - though, it's not the disease which is the killer, it's the beasts themselves. Each dog must take part in this game of survival, whether they travel alone or in a pack, young or old - there's no seconds chances anymore.

These are the dogs which are known as Mutants. Though these dogs can be easily mistaken for any other breed of dog, there's something which separates them from the rest - unlike other mutants, they don't take the form of a larger canine, nor do they look much different. What makes them stand out is their bright eyes, which almost look as if they're glowing - a light brighter than any animal has. Another thing which makes them stand out in their gut curdling growls, their lust for blood and pain - how savage they have became. Several bites from a mutant can cause them who aren't immune to die, or turn - turn in to one of them. This making them unable to fight off the mutants to an extend, a few bites being given then they'll have to run - other wise they'll be taken down too. Those immune to the mutants aren't harmed, and can fight with them to the death; worst case scenario for those being immune is that they'll become sick for a short while.

Rules & Applications

Rules to be followed;
1- No god-modding, power-playing or auto-hitting its real annoying and well, pointless; though it does annoy individuals.
2- Be realistic, even though this rp may not be classed as very 'realistic'. I want you to be realistic, so falling off a cliff you'll injure yourself or more than likely die, staying under water for over 4-5 minutes max you'll drown. Stuff like that will not be tolerated.
3- Be active, if you're going to be away for a while, please post in your last post, nothing's more annoying than an rp going inactive because someone has went away, so no one has posted, then no one does so again.
4- You can have as many characters as you want but, all must be posted for, so I'd recommend only having a set amount of characters which you can handle; the only creature you can play is a cat or dog - not prehistoric creatures and such.
5- Cussing/swearing is allowed, so if you don't really like it its best not to join, or block it out if someone does so. Gore and such will also be accepting, due to the type of roleplay this is, so please, of someone has said things in their post, do not take offence.

"Evil lurks in the most unluckiest of places"

Name: Bethesda
Nickname: Beth, Bee
Gender: Female
Breed: Boykin Spaniel
Sub-breed: n/a
Age: 1 year

Personality: Beth is more of a reserved character, and can be described as slightly timid. She can be quite talkative and giddy around those she is familiar with, however. When challenged, she often becomes snappy and rude, as she doesn't like to be questioned. She is calm and likes to take a more brainer approach to issues rather than using brute force or violence. She's quite a geek and would rather out wit her opponent with her smarts. Her brainy personality can sometimes allow her to come off as pretentious or with a "better than you" type of attitude.

History: Bethesda and her family, robbed of a home by the fear that the disease would spread to them, moved out on a quest to find a safe home or a save haven away from the disease. The journey was not easy, and Bethesda suffered the loss of her father, when he sacrificed himself in a fight against a grizzly bear in order to save his family. Grieving and lacking food and energy, Bethesda's family continued on. Their journey continued for quite some time, until one night, when a storm ravaged the lands. They approached a waterway, and on the other side laid a promising looking island. In an attempt to save her family, Bethesda's mother carried her pups across the raging water, the current fighting against them. The current was incredibly strong, and halfway across the river, Bethesda's brother, Alfie was pulled from their mother's grip and was pulled downstream. In a desperate attempt to save him, Bethesda's mother coaxed her pups to swim to shore themselves as she went after Alfie, the smallest of the litter. Bethesda made it to the shore, but after many hours of waiting, she never caught the glimpse of her mother or siblings. In despair and without direction, Bethesda continued on, hoping to find the home that she and her family fought for.
Pack/Clan: N/A

Parents: Clint {Father/Deceased} and Maeve {Mother/Missing}
Siblings: Esther {Sister/Missing}, Hans {Brother/Missing}, Alfie {Brother/Missing}, Heidi {Sister/Missing -- to be Present}
Crush: N/A
Mate: N/A
Pups: N/A
Other: She likes to hunt small animals, a secret interest that contrasts her brainy personality.
{Also, if possible, I explained that her sister Heidi is alive and missing, however I'd like to bring her in later into the RP if that's okay. I'd post a character sheet for her when I think its the right time to bring her in if that's okay c:}

Name: Ignati
Nickname: Iggy
Gender: Male
Breed: German shepherd mix
Sub-breed: White
Age: 2 years

Personality: Sporadic, easily-humoured, rash, reckless, addictive, immature, energetic, twitchy
History: Born to Ania and Piston in the outskirts of an old human city. He was always the quirky one out of his sibling group. Instead of wrestling and chasing his siblings, he took more enjoyment in watching and laughing, and snapping at any who came near him. His father, convinced that he had turned Mutant, cast him away, chasing him with no mercy. Iggy didn't quite care. He kept laughing along, prancing through the wreckage of the city. However, this got him into trouble too often the further from home he got. Eventually, he grew near insane, though his genius intellect kept him alive.

"You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game."

Name: Makenna
Nickname: Mak, Kena
Gender:  Female
Breed: Siberian Husky
Sub-breed: American Akita
Age: 4 years

Personality: When describing her personality, most will say it's like she has a split personality. Although, depending on yourself and her, will depend on how she'll act with you. She can often be seen as quite helpful, mostly if she knows you, and she'll go out of her way to help one. To an extent of course. If she doesn't know you, she'll be less lenient to help you. Although many avoid doing so, she's pretty approachable, seeing as she's surprisingly friendly, to some. Towards fiends and family she is quite loving and caring. She'll do what she can to make you feel somewhat welcome, and will treat you with complete respect. You managed to get a place in her heart? Good on you ... If she doesn't like you however, it's a completely different story. Trustworthy, protective and loyal are words which best describe her attitude towards the pack and ones she knows/loves. Completely dependable and reliable to those she knows, as well as being devoted or loyal. Sometimes though, she can get quite protective and if she suspects one as being a threat, she may not hesitate in ripping them apart. However, she might give you a chance. Sadly, it isn't shown too much however, she is quite playful once getting to know you. Whether she knows you a lot, or just a little, she'll always send some sarcasm or cocky behaviour in your direction. Often, she can come across as dominant. Even though she doesn't mean to do so, it seems to happen often. This seeming to often get her in some tough situations. If she doesn't know you, or dislikes you, she may show some to complete aggression and harsh, bitter behaviour. And she won't hold back. As well as that, she's known to have quite a pair temper and can be quite unpredictable when angered. So yeah, don't anger her.

History: Lived a rather 'normal' life for a dog around here; fighting, hunting, surviving. Although she now lives as a loner, she was once part of a close knit pack within the city - one which strived for many years and still does today. Despite living with a group, it wasn't the life for her and she decided to split from the group, though she would visit every other day to make sure that her family was safe. All up until one day they were attacked by mutants, this causing her sister to become one. And sadly Makenna had to be the one to finish her off so that she didn't harm herself nor the others anymore. Not too long after the pack was attacked once more causing a few of them to scatter, this causing Makenna to lose all contact with her siblings who she still looks for today. As for her parents, they died of old age and luckily didn't have to suffer living in the world any longer, nor turning in to one of the mutants.
Pack/Clan: Not at the moment
Infected: No, she's immune.

Makenna

"You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game."

The large damsel had been sleeping within a relatively large block of flats which more than likely once belongs to humans - the leaf covered furniture surely indicated this. A place which she had resided in and called her home for several nights now, somewhere which was safer than the streets, though, you couldn't always be too sure in this place anymore. With humans no longer being around to destroy what forests and wilderness we have left, it seemed both plants and animals were blossoming;  more wild animals venturing around, the plants even seemed to have taken over the cities - not, not looking like a city of brick, though, it now appeared a city of leaves, branches, water - despite the major changes, everything still looked beautiful within the abandoned city. Unlike previous days, today there seemed to be a storm brewing. The sky, it had that darkened colour which it usually had when a storm was on its way, the way each single cloud was packed together in the sky. And that smell, that one smell which always lingered before a storm came.

Jowls parted widely, a deep yawn following - Makenna had finally woke. Tongue being lapped at her dry snout, the mutt found herself sprawled across a bet of leaves. Literally. Brows would instantly furrow as the large canine hoisted her large frame off of the relatively soft surface, leaning forth and leaping off - paws hitting the now grass covered flooring with a light thud. Shaking any debris off of her thick coat, the dame would then slowly make her way out of the building. With her years of being here, and what she had heard, Makenna was able to know the times in which the mutants came out to hunt; at night. And therefore she knew not to come out at such times. Though, early in the morning was also the best time to catch some food, and throughout the day was good for exploring.  Something which the lass may do today. Making her way out of the building which consisted of many floors and many stairs, she finally made it.

As the damsel made her way on to the streets, the pads of her paws moving off of the soft, grassy surface on to that of the small amounts of concrete which now covered the pavements. Brows furrowed, Makenna would take a few strides forward, before stopping for a moment, glancing around. As it usually did early in the morning, the streets looked empty - no one, nothing crossing her line of sight. With a roll of broad shoulders, the Husky mix began slowly making her way down the street, tail swaying behind her gently as a cold breeze blew through the street - nipping at the more exposed areas of her body. With a low grunt of annoyance, she'd shake her head. Broad paws gently beating at the ground as she continued to walk at a relatively slow pace, she'd often glance around the street to see what was going on around her - nothing as usual, but the scenery was still rather nice. Though, she'd soon come to a halt as her paws hit the freezing cold liquid below. Lifting her head, she'd glance at the large pool which separated her from the other side of the road - her head nodding. Walking slightly to her left, she'd bend her hind legs and then push herself off of the ground, leaping from one car to another, before her paws finally hit dry land once more. With a shake of her fur and a satisfied grunt, she'd trot off down the street once more.

[No idea yet ... xD]

Iggy

""Keep doin' the same damn thing over and over my whole life. Scary thing is, I expect something to change!"

The pearl-colored angly white male trotted along the destroyed city. He chuckled, giddy with pointless excitement as usual, as he climbed over the steel beams of a destroyed skyscraper wall. A sharp edge of a broken steel rod scratched at a scab on his back leg ankle, but Iggy did not care. The same scratch had occured almost daily at the same time during the same walk every day. It was part of his life... or it would be if he cared to notice the sharp sting on his hock. He continued along, with some unknown drive to move further and faster, hoping to discover more "fun" than the previous day, though it never was enough. If he would uncover a new building, he would barely acknowledge it as a new part of his routine. It was just his monotone life.

His overgrown claws scratched at a stone tile as he struggled to crawl over the fractured remnants of a human rest room. Growing tired, for once he decided to sit down atop the smooth, cracked surface. He closed his bold russet eyes, growing drowsy within minutes. He never even thought of how sleep deprived he was. Too focused on the obsessive route every day. Maybe he should change that...

Bethesda

"Evil lurks in the most unluckiest of places"

Bethesda let out a snarl of frustration as the broken wire of the fence dug into her fur and skin, causing her to become caught on the rusty hole that she was trying to squeeze through. She could see the street on the other side of the fence, but being stuck in the fence wasn't going to do much help of getting her there. She narrowed her eyes and let out a small breath of air, as she began to brainstorm for a solution to getting out of this predicament. In a small burst of frustration, which was quite unlike her poised character, she would try to wiggle her hind leg loose, but to no avail. Muttering small curses under her breath, she calmed herself and thought some more, finally coming up with a solution.

She backed her tiny body back through the hole, the way she had came, allowing the wire to slide out from her skin. She quickly jerked her leg down and away from the fence, letting out a bark of triumph when she popped free of the fence. She ducked her head and went back through the hole, keeping in mind to keep her limbs close to her, satisfied when she had finally made it out to the street.

Makenna

"You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game."

Thick tail lashing out behind the over-grown canine, she'd continue to glance around with furrowed brows. Time to find food. It seemed however, the only thing which was stupid enough to venture in to the city was rodents, some birds and deer - the larger, more plentiful prey seemed to only cross these parts when it was really needed. This giving Makenna a limited choice on what she wanted for breakfast. With a grunt, she'd lower her head slightly, a little lower than her shoulders, snout pointed to the ground, and many scents wondered in to her nasal; mutants, other animals, nature smells and ah, there it was, rabbits. It was a habit for Kena to hunt rabbits in the morning and relatively late at night, being immune to the disease meant the only thing she really needed to worry about was larger, more dangerous predators, and being mauled by a pack of mutants - and deer being a more plentiful meal, and therefore was hunted in the middle of the day. Now with the scent fresh in her snout, and a fresh trail seemed to be present, a smirk would form at the wolf-like huskies lips, "Breakfast time", she'd speak to herself in a low, rasped tone - a grunt following. Now setting off after the rabbit.

It seemed the scent lead her in to a abandoned, 'broken' building, great. Silently entering the building, she'd glance around - though dark, the cracks and gaps in the walls and ceiling offered a fair amount of light. Tongue lapping at her snout, she'd silently stalk through the building, brows furrowed in search for her prey. Soon enough, muffled sounds were heard from one of the rooms, a smirk forming at her lips. As she stopped by the door, her eyes fell on the relatively large rabbit, growling lowly, she'd waste no time in launching forward, jowls parted. Within a matter of seconds, shuffling, grunting and a quick 'crack', all fell silent. Blood now painting the white front of the husky, she'd make her way back out of the building, not risking staying in such a confined space with her meal - the mutants would smell the fresh blood almost instantly.

As she came to the entrance/exit of the building, she'd glance around - silent, nothing. With a grunt of satisfaction, she'd make her way towards a vine-wrapped car, hop on to the bonnet and then the roof. Dropping the over-grown rabbit on the roof of the vehicle with a thud, she'd glance around one last time. Rolling her shoulders, she'd arch her neck, part her jowls and begin devouring her kill. Although out in the open, she was in the light. If in a confined space, and even in the dark, the mutants were likely to be there, waiting, watching. She was safer on the streets than inside a darkened building, especially alone.

[I'll be adding a section to the apps as I need to know who's mutated and who isn't.]

Iggy

""Keep doin' the same damn thing over and over my whole life. Scary thing is, I expect something to change!"

Iggy drifted slowly to sleep. His large, rounded ears drooped down, and the wild fur on his nape settled as he dreamed of chasing humans, which took the form of two legged gods as he had never seen humans before. They must have been great to create all of these buildings, which he always assumed were always in their current state as they were perfect for animals to live in, and, again, he knew nothing of humans, but perhaps some titan overthrew them in his imaginary weapon. He was unsure of where his resting mind was taking him, but he decided the titan would be disease and human greed. That was one thing he remembered from Papa. Humans had been greedy.

He twitched his scabbed hindleg violently, imaging the chasing actions of his dream. He yipped quietly, in some desperate plea; followed by a loud, almost painful whimper. He continued to twitch and yap in his restless sleep, almost thrashing at some intervals.

[I'm just going to put him being crazy as filler sorta until somethin' big happens]

Bethesda

"Evil lurks in the most unluckiest of places"

Bethesda continued on down the street, her tail held high as she took pride in her accomplishment of escaping the fence. Even though it wasn't a big task and anyone of her size could have done the same, she still felt proud of herself nonetheless. She padded down the street, sticking to the yellow dusty lines that marked the road. They weren't quite as bright as she remembered them, but the whole island seemed to be pretty dark and grimy. She sniffed in the air, which was quite a mistake, as dust entered her nostril and made her sneeze.

Beth continued on down her way, freezing mid step when she caught the sight of another figure in the street, who seemed to be crotching over another object in a feeding frenzy. Was it a mutant? Even the thought scared her. She quickly darted from the road to cover behind a cardboard box, peeking out to try and get a better view at the strange figure down the road from her.

Makenna

"You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game."

It only took the huge canine a matter of minutes, seconds even to wolf down her kill; a taste which she enjoyed greatly, one which she had came so use to. A small meal, yes, but a somewhat filling, enjoyable one at that. Once she was done with the meat, with only a small pool of blood and scraps left, she'd lift her head, straightening up her posture. Tongue being lapped at her now bloodied muzzle, Makenna would hop off of the car. Looking in to a puddle, she'd kneel her front half down and lap up  a few mouthfuls, before swishing the water around - trying to rid the small stains from her paws and chest. Once getting the best of it off, she'd shake off her thick pelt, a low grunt being given once more. Now, she'd not need to feast for a few hours or so, and it seemed the sun was quickly rising. Though, an unknown scent and the sound of movement caught her attention, this causing the large dog to whip around.

Lifting her snout as it wrinkled, she'd take in the scents, all the same as usual, though, blood and another scent seemed to be added to the mix. With a low growl, she'd furrow her brows, glancing around, before catching another scent of this creature as a light, chilled gust of wind blow through the street. Head jerking in the direction of the scent, her attention was drawn to a dark figure which seemed to be poking out from behind a small card board box. Smirking, she'd then shake her head, slowly stalking forward, "Show yourself", she'd speak with a rasped tone, a grunt being given - judging by the scent of whatever it was, it wasn't a mutant. How much fun this wasn't going to be. Claws making a 'click' like sound as they met concrete, her head hung low as she began drawing nearer the box, approaching ever so slowly. She wasn't going to hurt this creature, no. No matter how much it seemed like she was or how intimidating she must be, this wasn't a mutant, and certainly not big enough to be anything which would cause a major threat - so why did she need to worry so much? She didn't.

Slate mumbled as she wandered about the overgrown island, nose to the ground, trying to follow a rabbit. Her ears perked towards the sound of other dogs, and she took a mental note. Okay, there are other dogs on this island. Gotta be careful, she thought, paws carrying her in the opposite direction. And then she found a scent-trail, which completely blew her idea of staying away from the other dogs out of her mind. She suddenly took off sprinting after the rabbit she had been tailing, occasionally barking quite loudly. After thirty seconds of exhausting chase, the rabbit fell under her paws, it's neck between her jaws. She carried the dead rodent outwards, navigating the maze of this city until she was back out into the forest.

Slate slid into the small, abandoned den she'd marked as her own. She set down the rabbit and began to quickly eat. She couldn't risk being found. That was a terrible idea. As soon as the rabbit was no more than a skeleton, she took the carcass and walked towards the city's perimeter. She hunted along the side for a spot she hadn't buried anything yet, and settled for a spot next to a fence. She dug a rather deep hole, so deep she could probably crawl through it to the other side, and dropped the rabbit's corpse into it. The she-collie quickly filled the hole back up, before scurrying off to the forest again.

I'll add you to the members list. Next time please wait until you're accepted
As for the app, I copy and pasted it off of an old rp so I need to change to 'island' part in there. We aren't on an island, and humans haven't been around for thousands of years, so, the dogs will only know what humans are from stories, images around the city, etc.

Iggy

""Keep doin' the same damn thing over and over my whole life. Scary thing is, I expect something to change!"

Iggy stopped dreaming, but he continued to yap and scratch in his sleep. At the sound of nearby commotion, he stirred. He didn't want to wake up. He almost couldn't, his body was so weak and tired. He never stopped to think about the ribs poking through his scruffy white fur. He just wanted a purpose.
As the noise persisted, he opened his shining amber eyes groggily. He adjusted his position and began lapping at his underside. Filthy, he thought.

(Short for now, sorry. I'm going to be a bit slow with posting for the next week or so until school gets out.)

No no, it's fine. And thank you for letting us know, Scuttle!
I also need to know whether Iggy and Bethesda are immune or not, I've added changed in the application form.

Oh, Iggy isn't immune.
And I'll try not to involve him in anything TOO important until I'm able to be more active, if that's alright.

Bethesda

"Evil lurks in the most unluckiest of places"

Bethesda blinked as she heard the voice of the figure rise up into the air. She froze in her spot and lifted a paw in the air, desperately sniffing the air for a scent of the stranger. She was downwind though, and she couldn't figure if the stranger was a mutant or not. She took a moment to assess the situation however, and thought out a pretty solid seeming plan. SHe was a fast runner, so she's step out quick, sniff, and test the air before turning tail and running.

Hesitantly, Beth creeped out from behind the cardboard, lifting her head and opening her mouth slightly to catch the scent on the air. She gasped in when she caught the faint scent of a mutant, before realizing that it was a stale scent. "Uh, hi there," she said quietly, unsure what to do as she probably looked incredibly scared at the moment.

Makenna

"You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game."

Her large frame now towering over the cardboard box before her, Makenna would remain silent, awaiting this mutt to show themselves. Knowing by the scent this wasn't at all a mutant, she'd simply assess the situation; taking note of the size difference, surroundings, scents, sight, sounds and behaviour. Tail lashing out behind her as she patiently waited, she'd take note that she wanted to grab a bone from the carcass before leaving, it'd give her something to chew on when bored. However, her gaze remained on this unknown canine. A single brow would of course raise once the smaller canine brought itself from behind the box, a smirk at her lips. Ah, it appeared this dog was afraid. Clearing her throat, "It seems like you've just seen a ghost", giving her head a shake, Makenna would send a grunt in the smaller canines direction, "Don't worry, if I was going to hurt you I would have done it by now", she'd grunt once more, rolling her shoulders. Taking a moment to look over the smaller canine she'd nod, they seemed healthy enough, "And your name?", she'd question, though, whether this lass would state her name or not was another story - something Kena didn't care too much for. Tail continuing to sway, she'd now turn herself and slowly head back towards a car, which remained a short distance away.

Claws once more tapping against the concrete, "I'd not stick 'round these parts too long, those mutants will be on your tail at sundown", knowing all too well that once the streets grew darker, the mutants would show themselves - a time which Makenna both enjoyed and hated. Not leaping back on to the car, she'd make her way on to the roof, moving her snout through the vines and leaves, she'd drag the carcass from their grasp and hop off of the car with it, place it down and tear off a bone. Once doing so she'd kick the skeleton to the side and trot forward, towards the other canine if they had decided to stay, where she'd then drop the bone and speak if needed. If not then Makenna would simply begin heading back to her safe spot, drop her 'toy' off, before going out and exploring the city once more.

Iggy

""Keep doin' the same damn thing over and over my whole life. Scary thing is, I expect something to change!"

Looking up from his lapping, he decided to investigate more towards the edge of the city today. Changes in course were rare for Iggy, but not always unpleasant. He hopped off of the uneven rubble, twisting a forepaw in the process. He yelped and stumbled forward, falling off of another ledge and getting poked in the side with a steel rod. He rolled over onto his side and lapped at his flank. He immediately tasted blood. Whimpering, he curled up and caressed his wound with a burgundy nose. He hadn't felt this in a while, but it's what happens when you try new things, he supposed.
