*~*~ Howl and Roar ~*~*
This is not a complaint thread, but an enhancement thread for the new ability to howl and to roar, hopefully you will agree with these ideas just to make it that little bit better.
*~*~ Howl ~*~*
# Pitches; All howls sound the same currently, which is wierd when you hear your huge muscular canine cry out with a rather feminine howl. With the pitches idea, you'll be able to change how low or high you want your canine's howl to be. To do this, when you are making/editing a character, there will be a bar which you can scroll up and down (the higher the bar the higher the pitch, the lower the bar the lower the pitch), there will also be an option to test your howl to make sure that it is right for your character.
# Volume; You will be able to change how loud or quiet your canine's howl is by using a bar next to the pitch bar, the higher the bar the louder the volume, and the lower the bar the lower the volume. People will approve of being able to have their large canine have a loud and amazing howl that will travel farther distances than a quiet one. Like for the pitches, you'll be able to test the sound.
# Length; You will have the option to change the length of your howl in seconds, and then test it on your canine to see if it is to your liking. People will approve of this idea, since they may have a species that is known for it's long howls.
# Position; I have heard complaints about people wanting their howl to be more unique in the way they do it, so I think being able to change how high the head raises when the canine howls would be a good idea, along with how low the head falls when the howl begins. To do this, when you are in-game, without the head raising and lowering being automatic, you will have to put your head in the position you want to start the howl by having "howl options", which would be middle (facing forward), fairly low (slightly slanted down), low (almost pointing to the ground), really low (strait down to the ground) and under (head starting to point towards the stomach) and then set what you want the head to do when it has reached full howl, which would be middle (facing forward), fairly high (slightly slanted up), high (almost pointing to the sky), really high (strait up to the sky) and over (head starting to point towards the back). This would be an option when creating the character, but you can also change it in-game if you only want a little howl.
*~*~ Roar ~*~*

Thank you both for the positive comments, I think I'll make a supporters list, I'll add you both.
That's great that you both like the ideas, I'll put you both on the support list.
I think the roar and howl sound fine as is and I am happy with them. People wanted them, and now they've been put in, people are complaining they're not good enough. To me that sounds kind of ungrateful. Kovu took the time to listen to your requests and implement them, but instead of "yay! Thanks Kov!" we've got "meh, too samey" and "too naff".
Don't get me wrong, I like Zarago's ideas but it will mean yet more tweaking and yet more alterations when other things like fighting actions, prey and other things people are wanting ought to take top priority in regards to the game. Maybe we should appreciate what we have.
I'm not saying I dislike the howling or roaring, I think it's a great enhancement to the game, it was one of those things I said to myself when I first played it, I said "Wait a minute, why can't we howl and roar?". These ideas are just to make the new addition better, with all this, I doubt there would be any complaining.
I don't expect this to happen soon, but it would be great if it did.
me and my sister zuko actually agree to this, we were talking about this ingame. I howled as my male werewolf Sai. His personality is evil and cruel, killing family members offspring. And sometimes even his own. He's not settling down and enjoys his freedom. However when i howled i was like -_- it doesnt suit his character, its actually more of the feminine side. I imagined Sai's howl and this isnt it.
However im not sure how this will be implemented into the game. Maybe if he uses Audicity then that might actually work with the whole slider thing. As it will change the tone of the sounds. But i totally agree with you guys i would love this idea in. However i prefer the pitches and volume better then the other too because these would be easier to add in compared to the other too.
for the position for the heads you can kind of already do that. If you have you head facing the ground and hit Howl (only tested with wolf) your head goes towards the middle and thats it. However if you look to the sky your head goes towards your back. So for the head position its kindof still in your control. Dont forget these are easier said then done. It could take kov ages to figure out how to implement these if he did want this added in. Not only that but the character creation screen would have to be edited and recoded to add more bars in. It would be alot of work.
To be honest it would have been better to give people 3 types of howls and 3 types of roars. 1 for different genders Male (Rough heavy howl) Female (Feminine Howl) and then offspring.
He can use the same animations that he already has but use the audicity to change the pitch of the sounds. And instead of changing the bars in the character creation screen to save him from doing too much coding. He could simply add them in the actions box. FHowl,MHowl,PupHowl. Same for the felines.
FRoar,MRoar,CubRoar. This is just my oppinion.
I suppose the head movements are a bit too ambitious. Anyway, I'm glad you and your sister like my idea, but I don't agree with just versions of the sounds, I think you should be able to make the pitch and volume exactly the way you want it with the sliders.

Have it where you can TEST the howl/roar as well? :3 Like you can have 'Test Howl' for canine and 'Test Roar' for felines
You can also be able to change the roar/howl by let's say you make a cat, you can choose cat or big cat meow/roar, the canines idk..
I'm very pleased to hear how many people agree with my idea.
I agree with this idea. At the moment the roar is a lot more quiet than the howl. You should be able to have the option to make the howl/roar volume louder. But of course roar will always be louder than the howl. As for stance I agree as well. Different poses should be added.
Plus the sounds of the howl/roar don't compare to the real thing, try and make it more realistic sounding. May be a challenge to obtain a clear realistic sound, but definitely worth adding this in.
I'll add you to the supporters list.
I completely agree with this, and it would be a nice feature however a slight problem is that when you do change the pitch for the howl/roar it sounds very, very bad. Meaning Kov would probably have to find a new howl/roar sound for different pitches.
We could always have different options, but we'd need to have a lot of different pitches, otherwise it wouldn't be much of an improvement.
I think it could still work normally, but it depends on how you program it.
Thank you for your support, and I've added ye' to the supporters list.
Thank you for your input. I have added you to the supporters list.
Agreed. Thank you for your support.
I love the idea of this. It's a little weird having a pup howl like a full-grown wolf.
