Game Discussion / Is Roleplaying in Local Chat Frowned Upon? Since When?
« on: December 06, 2019, 12:26:46 am »
It's been a long time since I've posted anything on this forum, but I gotta ask this since I've been dealing with this in the game itself.

Whenever me and some friends do some roleplaying in the public maps, especially the Grounds, some players have make objections or rude comments about it. They either tell us to roleplay in party/group chat, or go to a private map. We often times suggest they block us, but instead they'd rather harass us and make a fuss over it.

I'm sorry WHAT?!

Since when was roleplaying in Local chat a big deal, and since when did players start fussing about it? First, people complain that there are no roleplays going on in the game, yet when one comes up in Local Chat they want it to stop?! Many local chat roleplays went on in old Bonfire Island, and no one batted an eye. Same with Fluorite Plains. Now when a local chat roleplay is happening, people complain? What has this community come to?

Some players aren't into roleplay, and I get it. If it bothers you to see a roleplay going on in local you can do one of the following.

1.) Block the players temporarily
2.) Move away from their location
3.) Ignore it
4.) Turn off Local Chat

To me, harassing others for roleplaying in local could be discouraging other players, possibly driving them away from this game. Most of the time these players who complain about local chat roleplays are the same people who complain that nothing really happens in FH. Which way do you want it?
What are your thoughts on this?

Characters / Lady_Alizarin's Entry
« on: March 04, 2019, 03:12:34 am »

Name: Kojak
Age: 9 years old
Gender: Male
Species: Bobcat (Lynx rufus)

Appearance
Kojak is a bobcat tom made of muscle, and fat, weighing at 36 lbs. His once dark woodland brown fur has turned to a rustic barnwood color. His fur has its own unique pattern of subtle spots, as well battle scars he’s gained over the years. Kojak has some permanent scars on the left side of his face; scars he received in battle against a tyrant clan leader. He is slowly losing his sight due to old age. Therefore, his aging eyes have gone from a golden honey to a color that resembles a cloudy sky.

Personality
Unlike most bobcats, Kojak is more docile and gentler. He is wise, patient, sage, and open-minded to new ideas. He is a loner by nature, preferring to live away from others, but still keeping in touch. Kojak is like those old Southern gentleman, polite, hospitable, disciplined, family oriented, and takes care of business. He may be old and docile, but he’s still very much a wildcat with experience and bite.

Background
Kojak is the grandfather of the bobcat family line known as the Wildcatters. The Wildcatters are a bobcat family group that are dispersed throughout their homeland. This family has lived in the feral lands for countless generations. Everything changed when clans of felines known as domestic cats grew in population, expanding their territories greater and wider. Not only did clans fight one another over resources, the bobcats found themselves caught in the middle of it all. Bobcats and warrior cats would fight each other over land, hunting grounds, prey, and other necessities. Since the clan cats outnumbered the bobcats, the bobcats were forced to leave the land they knew as their home. Competition for survival was getting fierce, and most left in search of new homes.

Kojak was a young tom when the clan population was booming, and he too was struggling to keep hold of his own territory. He did't want to give up the one and only place he called home, so he tried everything he could to find a solution to bring peace between the clans and remaining bobcats. Most of the clans were untrusting and skeptical of such wildcats. As far as they were concerned, bobcats were seen as enemies, nuisances, and a threat to their survival.

“Why should we form an allegiance with such barbaric cats? They hunt the prey we desperately need to feed our own, and they kill our warriors quicker than any fox ever could!”
"He's not one of us, therefore he cannot be trusted."
"Bobcats are not our friends or allies. They do not know the Code or honor StarClan."

Kojak was persistent, trying any means to earn their trust, going as far as to learn their ways of life to help better his own. Through hard work and dedication, Kojak came to an agreement with a few clans. The clans would allow him and his family to stay in their homeland without any disputes under certain conditions. Kojak agreed to respect the clan ways, the territory borders, and come to their call if they so needed him. Through the years, Kojak has been faithful to clans like ShadeClan, NatureClan, StormClan, MoonClan, PapyrusClan, LilyClan, FrigidClan, and GeodeClan. What has he done for them? He’d partake in battles against the “evil” clans that step out of line, hunt prey that is near impossible for them to manage (deer, turkey, or pheasants), drive out any foxes, badgers, or coyotes from their territories, or help in clean up after natural disasters. Kojak had built friendships and relationships with clan cats over the years, including romantic relationship with she-cats. He’s had many children, both bobcat and hybrid children. Most refer to his hybrid offspring as “pixie bobs”. Many of his hybrid children have grown up to be respected warriors in their clans.

Today, Kojak is living like an old man in retirement. The bobcat is too old to go out into clan battle and get his hands dirty. He’s not as young or strong as he used to be, so it’s up to his children and grandchildren to finish what he started. He's living his evening years in solitude in Cherika Valley. He can be seen wandering around outside the valley to visit friends and family.

Game Discussion / Never a Dull Moment
« on: January 16, 2019, 02:40:07 am »
Back in the old days of Feral Heart, members were more active, more social, and a little more chaotic at times. Do you remember the days when...

-You'd be sitting in a random place on a popular map, and suddenly a lone player would come up to you and say, "Kills you no miss!"?
-Warrior Cat roleplays all over Fluorite Plains. Most would be fighting over "territories" and clan spots?
-Powerplayers and godmodders everywhere?
-People looking for mates?
-People looking for pups/kits/cubs?
-Exotic animal roleplays in Bonfire Island?
-Players arguing, "You stole my character!" "You stole my name!"?
-Roleplayers up on the pride rock of Bonfire with names like "Simba Official" "the real Nala" "Offical Kovu"?
-Roleplays being interrupted when another clan/pride/pack came over to your roleplay spot to start a random roleplay fight?

Never a dull moment in the game, right?
There was always something happening, whether it was a good thing, bad thing, or a bit of an annoyance. Back in those days there were more players online, therefore things could be more chaotic!

Is it strange that I miss that? Is it strange that I kind of miss those moments that were a little chaotic and not so dull? I feel like the community has been a little too quiet lately. Could it be that there's fewer players? Maybe those who would start some drama have learned and moved on? Could it be that newer players are a little shy? Nowadays everything just seems so dull. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. I would be more active in the game if there was more going on like there used to be.

What is your thought on this? Do you miss those days where there was never a dull moment?

Game Discussion / Do Politics Belong in Feral Heart?
« on: September 13, 2018, 02:05:46 am »
This is NOT a discussion on what your political views are, but more of a discussion of if you think political talk is appropriate in the game.
The Grounds is probably the most social map in the game right now, and many conversations have come up here and there. Sometimes there are discussions of politics; some are civil, and some end up hostile. Some people bring these discussions up to start trouble, others just look for casual talk.

Whether the talk is good or bad, right or wrong, does it have a place in the Feral Heart community? My personal opinion: I come to Feral Heart to escape that kind of stuff for a bit, but it just has a way of popping into the game. I don't think it's necessary to bring up such topics because it could end up with players getting hostile with one another, causing some unnecessary drama. I'm not saying people shouldn't, but I don't get myself involved.

Do you think politics belong in Feral Heart? Why, or why not?

Game Discussion / Roleplaying in Party or Group
« on: September 10, 2018, 07:31:04 pm »
I've noticed something.
Back in the old days of Feral Heart, most people would roleplay in local chat. Nowadays many people prefer to roleplay in
Party or Group.
I don't see too many people roleplaying in local as much as I used to. Why is that? I liked it better when people would roleplay in local chat, because I liked listening as their story was being told through roleplay. I understand some would roleplay in group or party if a map was overcrowded and busy (Bonfire Island), but it seemed local was more used in wide open maps (Fluorite Plains).

Do you prefer roleplaying in Party or Group compared to Local? Why?

Game Help / Preset Question (Solved)
« on: August 11, 2018, 09:51:39 pm »
I have a question regarding presets.
I am trying to make a preset where some parts of the preset are invisible (example: The character is missing a leg, so that part of the preset is invisible to make it look like the leg is missing). I've tried a few times, but the parts that are supposed to be invisible show up black. Do I need to save the preset as a specific file type, or do I need to put in a code?

How does this game work?

The object of the game is to try and guess the year the player above you was born based on a music video made from said year. If you were born in the year 2001, you can find any music video from that year, post it, and the person below you can take a guess.

If you're not sure what song to pick, you can try this website here for some fun.
https://playback.fm/birthday-song

Rules:
1. No cheating (that means don't go looking up the answer on Google)
2. Be sure the video is appropriate for the forums
3. Be honest  ;)
4. Have fun with it

I will start.

Can you guess the year I was born based on this hit song?

Game Help / Preset Mane (Solved)
« on: June 28, 2018, 01:22:12 am »
I'm making a new preset, but there's just something odd about the mane. I've seen people making presets where the mane of their character doesn't look so clipped. Here are some example pictures.

Is there anyway to fix this with coding?

Game Discussion / Name Generators?
« on: May 22, 2018, 10:44:50 pm »
Do you ever use any name generating websites to find a name for your characters, groups, maps, or any other creations on this game? If so, which generators do you like to use?

Me personally, I like to use
https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com to generate names for my characters. This website can generate many names for characters, places, and descriptions, whether it's fantasy or realistic, or for fandoms. I use this website to give me ideas for naming characters or for naming any maps I make in the FH mapmaker.

Do you have a preferred name generator?

I made a post like this way back in the day, but I thought I'd make it again and see what new stories people have to share.

So have you ever been blocked by someone over something so ridiculous you just have to laugh or ask "Why tho?" I have a few times in the past. Here is a list of some of the silly reasons I've been blocked by someone.

1. I was blocked for my character having the name of someone else's character. "You stole my character name. Imma block you!" It was a common name like Bob or something.

2. I was blocked for asking someone to quit being rude.

3. I was blocked for informing/warning someone that what they had in their character biography was very inappropriate and against Feral Heart rules.

4. I was blocked for the sake of "getting rid of the competition". What happened was I was on a horse mare character in a horse roleplay, and one random mare started blocking all the other mares around so she could get the attention of two stallions. It made no sense to me, but okay?

5. I was blocked after I logged in because an argument happened right where I spawned. I wasn't part of it at all, and one person started blocking everyone including those not part of it.

6. I was blocked by someone who tried to kill my character by powerplaying. When I refused to go along with it, they got mad and blocked me. They said I was a powerplayer because I wouldn't die like they said I should.

Silly right? Do you have any stories to share?
