A fast and easy guide to help get rid of lag
« on: June 09, 2013, 01:56:44 pm »
Title says it all
Ok, first step is to press escape. It gives you the option to go to Options or to Quit. Click Options. You will see four tabs, Interface, Video, Sound, and Controls. Click Video and scroll down until you get to View Distance. Drag it to zero. You can still be able to see, but not as far now. But that is not all. Scroll up until you get to Water Reflection. Click it, then uncheck the box. This next part is optional, so you don't need to do it. Scroll up until you see Rendering Subsystem. Switch it from OpenGL Rendering Subsystem to Direct3D Rendering Subsystem. It will tell you to restart the game, so exit all the way out then come back in. The terrain will all be the same, but hopefully all dat lag will be ridded of!

Seems like a helpful tutorial. :3 I usually do the first two, but I might've forgotten the rendering system one... I knew it would help!\
My friend refuses to do this stuff though, because she says she likes her settings and she'd prefer lag..
Oh well. :P I hope it does clear that lag I have slightly off of me. Thanks ^.^

It's good that you posted this Duna, it'll solve a whole lot of problems with some of the members lagging a lot. I usually just turn off my water reflection and I rarely lag though I'll keep in mind the other two options. Thanks for posting this!

I have a question on this: What if for some reason our openGL shows terrains, but your Direct3D doesn't and shows it all as a defauly terrain (The yucky greenish-yellow color)

I think it is supposed to do that, for all the times I used Direct it had that same terrain. I don't like it but your computer only has to load one terrain instead of a whole bunch, which makes it run a tad faster.

This should be very helpful to new members ^^ Sadly I still despise turning off water reflection... X3

So basicly use Direct when RPing, and OpenGL when makeing maps? so I can see what terrains I'm adding?
