So the short end of the plot--
One pack resented the other, when food was becoming scarce when food was already abundant, they had to hunt away from their territory for food, and with no help with it's neighboring pack...the third stayed hidden.
The story follows as there are three packs, under one realm. One of the packs had sent an assassin to assassinate the most treasured thing to the alpha from the neighboring pack. This caused a turmoil between the two packs, leading to a war. The third pack stayed neutral, and remained away from the drama.
