Post by: Oddonelynx on August 13, 2019, 06:05:57 pm
This keeping freaking happening! I was trying to take a picture with some other players, boom it crashed out of nowhere, I was posting a screenshot, BOOM IT CRASHED! What is happening? I just hear this certain part of the music that plays while you're playing the game and then it stops & crashes.

  • Flipping through tabs can sometimes cause the game to randomly crash or when you have too many programs open at the same time while running FeralHeart.
  • Perhaps you've installed content such as mods, markings, items, and/or textures improperly or they themselves are causing errors.
  • Check if you have any double particles.
Go to C:/FeralHeart/media/particles and search for any .particle file ending with _0, _1, _2, _3, etc. Make sure to delete these.
  • Make sure there's no security software blocking the game.

Open up your Control Panel, located in the Start menu. Depending on which Operating system you use and which layout, it might look differently. But Windows firewall should be in the category "security," or just find the text, "Windows firewall" or "Allow a program through windows firewall". This should take you to the correct place.

Once there you'll get a new window with a list of programs. Try to locate FeralHeart.exe in there and add it to exceptions by marking the checkbox. If you can't find it, and the game to the list by yourself by pressing "add program."
  • Try running the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that you have DirectX installed: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35)
  • Try changing your rendering subsystem.
The absolute first thing you want to try is to change the rendering mode for the game. There's different rendering modes you can pick from, usually OpenGL and Direct3D9. This decides which way your graphic card should process the game. This one is at standard set to OpenGL, so we'd want to set it to Direct3D9.

There are two ways you can change this setting.

    How to fix it!
Either you start the game, go into the Options menu (can be accessed by pressing the Escape key on your computer), click the Video tab, and then change the rendering subsystem and restart the game.

Sometimes you aren't able to even enter the game, and all you can hear is the menu music, or it just crashes directly after launch. Those who experience this can enter the Feralheart folder located in C:\FeralHeart at standard, find the file called "Ogre.cfg" and open it with Notepad.

This file works just as the ingame options menu, but instead of buttons and sliders, there's text.

What we're interested in is the top row

Set the top row text so it is just like in the picture with the text
    Quote from:
    Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem

Save the file, and close it. Next time you run the game it should boot with the new settings you applied. You can also change your Rendering system by setting it to OpenGl instead of Direct3D9.

This may seem odd but i would even suggest deleting that music? Might not solve the problem but that's what i would try!

Deleting the music? Playing slient Feral Heart seems weird...

I doubt its the music causing the issue. Sounds more like a graphical issue. I would suggest looking over and making sure to do all the things Sigyrn posted above as those things usual sort out these issues. If it continues afterwards you might want to just give your entire FH folder a uninstall/delete purge. Just be sure to save important files like presets, maps, and screenshots on the side somewhere. Once you've done this, install the game again and play it for a bit without mods. It's very possible if you have some mods installed it is a particular mod causing the issue. If a clean copy of the game runs fine without issue then slowly try one mod at a time until you figure out which is causing the issues.

Have you played FH before without issues? If so exactly when did you notice the issues starting? Did you make any changes? New computer, internet, or even the latest update?

Well my problem isn't any of the ones Sigyrm listed.
I started noticing the issue  after downloading the new patch

And does it keep doing it after you've reinstalled it (if you've tried doing that)? The things I listed were more solutions, they weren't really problems. Did you try changing the game's rendering system?

Okay so that had no affect I'm guessing. Have you recently installed any mods to your game?

Nope, all my same ones.

sounds like your computer is running out of ram or doesn't have enough memory in order to run it? that seems to be the cause of most crashing issues that are without a viable cause.

if you have any fancy interface mods or shaders, uninstall them. you could maybe change back to OpenGL as well if it wasn't causing issues. kind of a stretch but turn off Vsync and water reflection too.
also try not to run a lot of other programs when playing FH.
Title: Game keeps crashing when trying to play
Post by: Oddonelynx on August 27, 2019, 02:28:27 am
I can log in, and then when I select a character to play as... The music changes to the one you hear when you play ( I have the old music) then it starts becoming wonky and then it stops, and my game crashes! I adjusted my ENB mod to the lowest setting, still crashes, I deleted the ENB mod, crashes. HOW. DO. I. FIX. THIS?!  >:(

I believe you already made a thread about this, in which there were replies and we've been trying our best to help you. If your problem isn't resolved straight away, try to refrain from posting another thread regarding the same topic. We haven't forgot about you, we're just trying to figure out how to help. As for the problem, perhaps try this idea by Bawfle:

I'd make a copy of your FeralHeart folder and paste it on your Desktop (or just move it), and then go back and delete the FeralHeart folder you have in Local Disk (C:). When you've done this, uninstall and then re-install the game. Once you have, you can then slowly start adding back anything you wish to keep from the FeralHeart folder that you copied. Every time you add something back (a map, items, markings, etc), be sure to test the game before adding the next thing so you can identify exactly what is making your game crash.

They most likely merged the topics together, to avoid similarly threads.
