Game Discussion / Re: What would you like to see added in the game?
« on: October 16, 2019, 09:19:42 am »
Here is my list of things we needed back in 2011, but still don't have for whatever reasons:

  • Full unicode support in chat
  • Better file paths handling
  • User-made map security
  • Server authentication
  • Client authentication
  • Client-state verification
  • UI overhaul

Those are qualty-of-life things that would dramatically improve user-experience.

I've broken my other laptop some time ago... Minor hinge damage and hard drive failure, as a result of impact with asphalt :(
But now i got it back, finally! :D Better than new, well, sort of...
Nothing spectacular on desktop, wallpaper came with OS (nature_series_007.jpg). What is inside is more important, it is what makes this computer a bit special. And yep, this is machine where I was packaging FH for Mac. It's not even a mac, lol

Like Buffy's profile pic, you can see all the details on her profile pic, good quality. But how does she get that? Is it the size of the image or does it have to be uploaded in a very specific way?
Buffy's profile pic is of same quality. I can see JPEG compression artifacts on it. It looks better because it has dark colors and anti-aliased lines. Yours is high-contrast, that's the difference. You can try saving your userpic as GIF, but re-scale it first.

Kwibjo, i'm not sure if it wasn't intentional, but blur filter is not a very good for hiding information, there are programs for removing it.

I'm not sure why a thread like this didn't pop up sooner
I don't know either. You can meet something like it on almost every active forum board, it was really strange FH was missing that one.

Is that a KDE wrapper you're running Shell?
Yep, it is my old work laptop. Literally, it is my old laptop I brought to my work. Originally, it had Windows Vista, but I've replaced it with Linux after a week of use. Running KDE since then. There is no desktop icon, but it has FH on it :)

Hi everybody!
Today, one of the most legendary of platinum threads of Internets is finally coming to FeralHeart Forums!
You're tired? Feeling lonely? World around you has bleached out, and there is no fun anymore? Sit back and relax while we will be showing you best works of World's greatest screenshotcrafting masters!
You feel a great UI designer is dying in you? You've found out where Microsoft has hidden interface colors customization in new Windows? Your favorite artist has made a new wallpaper for you? Feel free to show us your achievements! Only here: professional screenshot criticism.
Maybe you're critic? Have a degree in program icons placement? Can configure font hinting even on grandma's calculator? You're welcome here, remember we truly NEED your advice!

Rules:
1. Post your desktop screenshots. Or homescreen shots. Or whatever you have on your device.
1.1 (optional) add some description to it.
2. Comment other people's desktops, if you have something to say. Just try to avoid comments like "Oh, this is cool". Remember, people come here to see pictures, not for some clumsy flattery.
3. Keep friendly atmosphere .
4. Have fun!

An example:

Hi. I've been looking for some old tutorials (had my own reasons) and it looks they were deleted. Is this because too many people kept referencing outdated information, or just some case of NIH? Anyway, it's very sad that there is nothing left, at least you could create some sort of "Archive" subboard for outdated tutorials.

Anyway, what you would suggest for a common user?
I don't know any :( TOX has potential, but it is not mature project. You can also try Bitmessage but it supports only text messages and it is not user-friendly.
If you need REAL privacy, there is no simple solutions. But if you don't mind privacy...
a) I believe that desktop version of Google Hangouts (plugin for chrome) is less maleware-like than Skype. But I would not trust Android version. Android phones with unremovable Google applications are like armed bombs.
b) Facebook and other social network are good enough. At least you don't have install a backdoor into your computer, they will work in browser
c) If you don't want to use your real name, you can try Steam. Of course steam-client is a suspicious bloatware, but it is rather popular, and messaging is not it's primary function, so Valve probably has less interests spying on you.
d) email. Despite the fact that it is totally insecure, it works almost anywhere, even on computers from 80s.
e) There are a lot of other less popular messaging services around, their security and user-friendliness may vary. Prefer ones that use open-source software first.

And it would be good idea to use asymmetric encryption (PGP, OTR) with any of above.

Game Help / Re: Bad Tokens; Re-imaged Mac

I believe mac download is broken. It used to work on OS X 10.6, but I've never tested it on newer versions. And it is confirmed to have mac-specific bugs: some standard maps  won't show up. Unfortunately, I don't have any Apple hardware now, so I can't fix it myself :(

None of these. Both are poor choice. Don't use them for anything you would not say on public, they're not secure. And be careful with Skype, it was caught while looking through files on users' devices.

So many people are afraid of getting banned... There is some sort of Inquisition of FH that bans everything they found suspicious now? Have I missed something?
