Updates For Summer 2015
With spring fading into the warmth, sunshine, and energy of summer, FeralHeart's been heating up to what we hope will be a very busy and exciting summer season for you guys, too! Here we're combining the spring and summer news update into one large article for you, this way you'll not only find out what's been happening, but also what's in store for you for the rest of the summer. Let's check it out!

Board & Site Changes

In order to help with questions about FH account registration, we've added an information page for FH registration on the website's homepage. The article may be found here, and it should answer any questions you may have about registering an account for the game. It's a great link to share with users who wish to join us, too!

We've also updated our How To Report page, complete with pictures and step-by-step tutorials on how to report misbehavior in the game. Check it out here!

Over the course of the year, we've also created four new child boards for some of the larger roleplays in the game, under our Group Advertising Board. Let's give a warm welcome to Dawn of Dusks, Creatures of Yugure, Risen--Revolution, and Unchained, all of whom we're happy to have here on the forum. Be sure to check them out sometime!
Just as well, all slots are currently full for roleplay child boards. If one goes inactive, or if we get a large number of qualified and interested groups desiring a child board, arrangements may be discussed among staff to accommodate more roleplay child boards.

Events & kewl sturf

Mark your calendars, because the FeralHeart Official Roleplay Day #5 is on June 14th! All information for it may be found here. It's an entire day dedicated to our roleplaying community, where the goal is to get as many users as possible roleplaying together, staying in character (IC) and immersing yourselves in the world of FeralHeart for the entire day. You can help make it great by advertising, and getting as many of your fellow ferals in on it as possible. Let's make it happen, guys! c:

It's our pleasure to announce that the Official FeralHeart Movie Nights are back on June 27th! Get your scoop on the cinema action in our movie night info thread, along with the movie theatre, livestream links, and everything else you'll need as we kick off the movie nights with a showing of How To Train Your Dragon. Grab the popcorn and drinks, and we'll see you there~

That's right. We feral types know how to throw down, this time bringing the FeralHeart Summer Party 2015 to the desert oasis! The party starts on July 17th at 5pm EST, giving us more than a month to get the word out. Be sure to help spread the word, and we're also collecting your custom presets for the event, which gives you plenty of time to get your party presets ready to go (or, if you just want to submit your normal preset, that's great too)! Learn more in our info thread, and we can't wait to see you there!

We'd also like to extend our congratulations to the Spring 2015 Preset Contest Winners, Zophrenia, ToxicHeart100, and CircusFreak! These three wooed the judges with their wonderful taste and preset skills in our Dessert-themed contest, taking the top place and earning a spot in our Preset Contest Hall of Fame. Congrats again, and a great job to all who participated. See ya when the summer contest rolls out!

Congratulations as well to our Springtime Members of the Season, DelightfulRevenge, ~Thyme~, and Turtlex! These lovely users have the interest in the game that we like, and the attitudes we love in the FH community, and they've made such an impression on the players of FH that they've been given a spot on the MOTS Hall of Fame. Who do you think will follow their pawsteps for the summertime? Find out in the Summer MOTS (dates coming soon)!

Side Note

The FeralHeart DeviantART page is in need of a new icon, and we're looking to our creative users to make it special! Starting on June 1st, the FH DA opened up the Feral-Heart-Art Icon Contest, and submissions end on June 30th. Want to try your hand at the icon contest? Check out our journal for more info.

We've also had a few changes of paws on the staff team since our last news update! Early this year, Shallow, who served as one of our Global Moderators, stepped down from the team to continue her pursuits with her career, while Vespian stepped down later due to time constraints with school. Raphilion is also no longer serving as a part of the staff team. We welcomed back BigSkippy to the team earlier in the year after a brief break due to work, and Bawfle also passed her MIT training, and has been a fully-fledged Moderator for over a month, now. We look forward to your continued work and dedication to the FH community!

Thanks for reading, and we look forward to sharing this busy summer with you all!

Updates For Winter 2014
A (slightly belated~) Happy New Year from the FH Staff! It's 2015, it's been a chilly winter, but the FH community is always abuzz with activity. Let's see what's been going down around here, shall we?

Board & Site Changes

We have a new sticky in our Introduction Board! It's likely that this sticky will be temporary, but the main idea is to help get the Intro board pushed toward what it's meant to be used for--actual introductions, or announcements of returning former players. It's used less for announcing a display name change, or a return from only a day, week, or otherwise short periods of time. A nudge in the right direction is a good thing, yeah?

New to the forum? Wondering how it can help improve the FeralHeart game experience? Our entire forum is made to help our users share their own ideas and creations with fellow users, and you really never know what you'll stumble upon next. Art, addons, events, you name it, our forum's probably got it. Find new roleplays in our Group Advertising Board, check out the newest interface mod or fancy presets in our FeralHeart Addons & Mods Boards, or meet with some friends for a user-hosted party or livestream in the Community Activities Hub!

We've also upped the security on our website a little bit, so you've probably noticed that you've had to fill in a few numbers or letters in a captcha box when you go to post. It's a few extra seconds to post, but it's there to make sure our forum is secure from bots, etc., and also helps prevent spam.

Events & kewl sturf

Our DeviantART page, Feral-Heart-Art, has launched a Character Design Contest! Using only the FH character creator and in-game markings, the top three creative characters that capture the judges' hearts will be put into a poll, and then our DA watchers can decide the final winner! The deadline is February 20th, so there's still time to join! Learn more here.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the FH Official Roleplay Day on February 7th! Oodles of users had a blast roleplaying with their fellow ferals, staff played some radio while RP'd, and in general it was a great time for many. Missed out on this RP Day? Fear not, and check out our to keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Of course, a whole-hearted congratulations to our Winter Members of the Season: TwistedLizard, Raphilion, and WhisperingWaves! Right before the new year, these folks were voted by the community to be the most deserving of the Winter MOTS title, and we can't help but agree! Each of them have fabulous attitudes, and we hope they'll continue to spend time bringing their bright smiles and positive attitudes to the FH community. Congratulations as well to all nominees, and keep an eye on our MOTS Board as we anticipate the Springtime MOTS, just around the corner.

It feels like it was only last week, but we also wanted to give a belated tip of the hat to those who came out to our FH Winter Holiday Party on December 20th, 2014! Until the next time, stay fabulous, and don't forget those dance moves for the next party! (Which, of course, we'll unveil in its due time~)

Side Note

We've had a few changes with staff, too! Firstly, this past winter, we've had Takani and Genny/Sherlockian step down from their moderator positions, but we're grateful to have had their hard work and dedication while they were here on the team with us. We'll see you guys around, and our love to both of you from the FH community! BigSkippy, a former moderator, has now returned to the team as a full mod, and so he's been around to lend a paw once more! Just as well, we now have not one, but TWO new MITs (Moderators In Training). They're none other than than Bawfle/BigBangTheory and Raphilion! They've been working hard in their training, and we expect they will be very fine and diligent additions to the staff team.

Thanks for reading, y'all, and until next time, enjoy the rest of the season!

Updates For Autumn 2014
Just in case you hadn't taken notice of the rampant falling leaves, pumpkins, and chilly air galore--It's autumn, y'all! So what's been happening around FeralHeart since our last news update?

Board & Site Changes

Alas, we can say that the forum "spring" cleaning is complete! It had actually been finished this past summer, and so we've been sitting on a more tidied-up forum for a few months, now, but we figured it would be nice to go ahead and let you guys know that the job's done. Thanks to all who helped sniff out any threads that needed deletion (both staffers and members), and do know that you're still free to PM any "Please delete!" threads to staff so we can maintain our forum's cleanliness. Thanks again!

As some of you may have noticed, we've changed up some of the ranking stars and colors for a few things around the forum. In order to better match the color scheme of our forum, staff member accounts have been changed to differing shades of reds, oranges, and golds, in place of the blues you'd normally see on our moderators' names on the forum. Member of the Season winners now have a pretty new set of stars that stand out strikingly against the forum background, and the "new" notification for threads has been changed from blue to red. Spotted 'em yet?

Spooks everywhere!
Well, actually, no, those are just some of our members wearing their gnarly garb and purrfectly themed presets for our annual FeralHeart Halloween Party on October 25th! That's next Saturday at 5pm EST. You can find the party's info thread here, and closer to the date of the party, we'll be posting the map download (courtesy of Lord Suragaha for our party map!), as well as a bulk preset download for those who wanted to show off their presets at the party. Check out the info link above to find out how to submit your preset, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
Music, spookified ferals, epic maps... How much better can it get?!

That said, we've already made our way into... (Drum roll, anyone?)

Right into the FeralHeart Halloween Preset Contest!
We've merged the Autumn contest and our Halloween Contest into one big event that coincides with our Halloween Party (keep reading to learn more!). This one's a Free-For-All Theme, meaning that you can make the theme your very own! The variety in this one already looks like it's going to be great, and we can't wait to see all of the completed entries. Whether you're an old pro at preset making, or fresh-faced and new to the event, everyone is welcome to show their stuff in our preset contests.

Wanna get in on the action? Check out our Halloween Preset Contest Info Thread to learn more! Submissions end on October 24th.

Just as well, a late congrats to our Summertime Preset Contest Winners!
Every single entry in the summer contest was wonderful, and we can speak for all of the judges when we say that you guys made it difficult to pick winners! But in the end, these three lovelies bounded their way to the top in our "Fun in the Sun"-themed summertime preset contest, and have made their way into our Preset Contest Hall of Fame. Be sure to check 'em out here!

We'd also like to thank everyone who came to our third FeralHeart Official Roleplay Day on September 6th! It really was a pleasure to see so many of you guys eager to get out there roleplay your hearts out with your fellow ferals, and so we're hoping to see this roleplay-friendly event return again sometime in the future (no word on when it will be, but we'll let you know once we do!).

As for our Members of the Season, we have two sets to congratulate since our last update! Firstly, we have a late congratulations to our Summertime Members of the Season, Vask, Ingredient, and KikioryLandia, and we just recently named our newest Autumn Members of the Season as AlphaEclipse, xRuby1234x, and JimMoriarty. We're really blessed to have you guys in our community, and each and every one of you have wonderful attitudes that help make FH a better place for everyone. Congrats to all who were nominated throughout this time, as well, and we hope to continue to see your lovely pixels around here with us! Stay wonderful, and until the next MOTS nominations, enjoy the rest of the season with your new titles (and shiny green stars)!

Side Note

We also had one of our beloved global moderators, Ringo, step down from the staff team this past July due to life just being busy! This is perfectly understandable, of course, and we were blessed to have had Ringo with us as one of our oldest staff members. She did such wonderful work during her time on the team, and we look forward to still seeing her around FH whenever she can pop online to share a snuggle or two. Stay awesome, Ringo!

In other news, we recently completed the Feral-Heart-Art Background Contest on our DeviantART page! We now have a lovely new fall-themed set of widgets for our main page, as well as art featured by the contest finalists. Be sure to check 'em out!

Hey, Tumblr users! Seen any art, map makers, preset makers, or any FH-themed artists you'd like to give a shout-out to? We'd love for you guys to send in your submissions to our Official FeralHeart Tumblr page! We love answering questions, but we'd really like to spruce things up with some submissions and spotlights on our wonderful artists in the community, too. Blog-perfect, right? Be sure to include credits (and even helpful links) to the artists when you submit!

Thanks for reading, and 'til next time~

Updates For Summertime 2014

School’s out, the beaches are open, the sun is shining (usually, that is~), and that’s a sure-fire sign that summer has definitely arrived! Summertime is often our busiest and most active time of the year, so what’s been heating up around FeralHeart?

Board & Site Changes

For those that saw our Spring News Update, you’ll have heard about the staff’s undertaking of the forum spring cleaning we started this year, and we’re pleased to announce that over 80% of the FeralHeart forums have been cleaned and re-organized, meaning that the completion of our forum cleaning is well within reach. The main point of this project is to remove any old “Please Delete!” threads on the forum, and so if you’re itching to lend a paw in the last stretch of the clean-up, feel free to PM links to these threads to a FH staff member, and we’ll be happy to take care of them. A big thanks to all contributors in the clean-up!

In the process of the spring cleaning, we’ve also updated the Member Bios & Journals Rules, which can be found here. While it’s been a delight to see our members so actively use this board, we’re trying to keep things organized by asking each user to keep a max of two threads here—one biography, and one journal (or combining these into one if you’d like). By doing this, each user can keep and update their own bio and journal for life events, etc., but also prevents the board from being bogged down by old threads that are used once to announce a single event, but never to be used again.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please message one of the staff, and we’ll be happy to hear your thoughts and get back to you very soon.

Since our last update, we also added in a new sticky thread in the Praise board, which you can take a peek at here. It’s here just to clarify a few rules for the Praise board, and above all lay out what it’s for—praising other deserving and kind members of the FeralHeart community. Be sure to check it out!

Some may have also noticed that the Other Games board has been made into a child board under Off-Topic Discussion, so it’s now right alongside Forum Games and other boards that are more suiting than its original place in the open forum Index.
Just as well, the Other Games Rules sticky has been updated! While this board is open for discussion of many other games our users play, we do remind users to make sure you’re posting only one thread for each game! This includes game updates, staff searching, events, and other topics pertaining to them, all of which can be added in and updated in one single thread for each game. Not only does it keep the board from being cluttered with multiple threads about the same game, but it’s also easier for others to read up on them if it’s centralized in one thread.

Events & kewl sturf

Here’s a shout-out to those who came out to the FeralHeart Summer Party 2014 this past weekend! With music streaming, a Raptor Hunt, dancing galore, and even a little podcast from the staff, I think we speak for everyone when we say it was a great way to kick off a FeralHeart summer into full-swing. A big thanks to all who came out to join us!
And, of course, congratulations to our Find The Raptors Winners; WolfKate, Flyinghearts, and Hypothermia! All who participated made the hunt a blast, and thanks to everyone who sought out our ten baby raptors hidden in the party map.
Whether or not you made it to the party, you can always go back and re-live some of the fun and action by viewing the many screenshots captured at the party in our Screenshots Board. See ya at the next party!

If you haven’t already, be sure to go and vote for our Summer Members of the Season! You can find the voting thread here, and voting ends on July 13th. Congrats to all nominees, and the best to you all as we await the revealing of our Summer MOTS!

This past spring, we were happy to bring back the FeralHeart Preset Contest, and welcomed in our three Spring Preset Contest Winners; MadMoai, DaFabulousJim, and AlphaEclipse! All entries in our Super Heroes-themed contest won our judges’ hearts, but these three managed to save the day and land themselves a featured spot in our Congrats, and thank you to all who entered!
But wait, there’s more~ On July 1st, we’ll be revealing the Summer Preset Contest theme and opening contest submissions, so stay tuned to see our next Preset Contest’s unveiling!

Side Note

We’re also pleased to welcome Sherlockian and Vespian onto the team as full Moderators, and our own Shallow has moved up to Global Mod status this spring. Thank you all for your hard work in the community, and we’re sure you’ll continue to make us proud and keep FeralHeart a fun and welcoming place for everyone.

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful summertime!

Poems / A Few of White's Poems
« on: April 11, 2014, 05:47:46 pm »
Ohyanno, just posting some stuff. c:
I do occasionally write poetry, so I figured I might keep this little thread here for your amusement if you care to check out, critique, or just enjoy a bit of writing. I'm no pro as a poet, but I do try to play with my words in a way that is not only understandable, but relatable to my readers. I feel that in both my art, music, and literature, if you as a reader can find something in my work that might reflect or sound with you in some way, then I've been successful.

My apologies in advance if these topics occasionally tend to edge on some darker subjects, as some of them turn out to be vent-ish poems. They're there for the beauty of whatever they might be, though, and I hope you enjoy them either way. <3

Daylight
Written February 18th, 2014

Mine is the daylight,
My sunshine,
My Spring.
Those sweet waking hours when nightmares run away.
I roam as I please, I think as I please,
And those who do love me
Do join me in ease.

It's just when night falls,
When the sun slowly sinks,
When the skies yawn before we do
Into their quiet slumber.
Be it starlight, snow-flight, the pitter-pattering of rain,
The hushed sounds of warmth and sleep
File in, nose to tail, one by one.

It's just when night falls,
When all are at peace, these thoughts
These heavy thoughts, they walk back out from my mind,
Sit cross-legged on my tongue,
Lean comfortably between my eyes, at rest on my nose,
They cover my hands and scamper on my chest,
All I experience are these memories in my every sense.

No Daylight to chase them away,
No day-dwellers to pry the nightmares off of me,
No distractions.
I sleep with them, these thoughts invading my blankets,
Snickering and sharp as they play in my pillows.
It's the brooding, most silent sorts of commotion,
That keep me running all night.

When did my mind become a less pleasant place?
Must I be out of my mind--
To live with my mind?
It doesn't start like this, nor does it finish this way,
But I believe these thoughts get their playful vigor and lusting attachment
From the fact that the one earth-bound creature with the power to sweep them all away from me
Is not with me.

Bells ring and clocks chime, the sun pushes itself up onto its elbows.
With reluctance I sit up, every thought still clinging to me,
And I limp around with them.
Swallow them down with coffee and emails,
Dressed and outside again.
Those daylight creatures greet me again,
And I can forget those thoughts in my stomach, in the beauty of it, at least until the sun falls again.

Mine is the daylight,
My sunshine,
My Spring.
Those sweet waking hours when nightmares run away.
I roam as I please, I think as I please,
And those who do love me
Do join me in ease.

The moon was beautiful tonight.
Written March 13th, 2014

I stood for two hours in the sub-freezing weather tonight
While he tore me in half
And I told him who he was.
Between the anguish
We could actually laugh
At these teeth-baring truths
Or at life
And familiar faces
As they passed us by.

One ridiculed
For having
Too much compassion,
Too much loyalty,
Too much forgiveness,
Too much faith,
Too much fire to be extinguished by any amount of cold,
That stubborn, foolish beast.

One not knowing
Or knowing too well to know where to begin fixing it
What they are fighting in the end,
What they are losing in the end,
What they are giving up,
What they are killing,
What they're afraid of reaching out to save.
That stubborn, fallen king.

Watch me lean over,
Watch me spit the colors onto the pavement,
They'll freeze right here, just see for yourself.
A rainbow of betrayal
Sparkling with indifference.
Give me your words, we'll dress up
The colors of this rainbow,
A headdress of fire escapes
Shiny bangles of excuses
Two earrings of self-servingness and cruelty
And a decorative cocktail ring of memories (to be hidden away in pockets from any others who might see).
I'll tuck the extras behind my ear for later
When the colors stop and I'm just spitting blood.

But let's not linger on the details.
I couldn't feel my thighs, my teeth were icicles,
But I showed those teeth in laughter and in fury,
I'd even wondered what it might be like
To sink them into something warm
To give the pain back
As it told me I deserved better.

Running away works, too, though.

The parking lot is empty, now, it's been two hours.
I get what I want,
But it's foolish of me to ask for what I need,
So I split in half as he tells me goodbye.

He's driving off,
I stumble across an open field
My head to the stars in realization
I scream at them a little,
Bare my icy teeth all the while.

He's almost gone,
I flop back onto the pavement that I'd once called home
For four years.
My back freezes to it,
My frozen limbs splay out in a backward hug,
I'll just stay for a while.

The moon was beautiful tonight.

Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
Don't do this to anyone, ever again.
DON'T DO THIS TO ANYONE, EVER AGAIN.

The moon was beautiful tonight.

This Week
Written April 11th, 2014

I crossed paths with two damaged souls.
They walked very tall,
I could see their hair tickling tree leaves.
But then they sat down beside me,
Rolled up their sleeves and showed me
Their scars
Like lines in a novel.

My God, were they beautiful.
May I cradle them in my arms a little longer?

Emmanuel's Lament
Written April 15th, 2014

Why is that
In times of worry I
Fall back into your arms
(If they were there)?
Why is it the trumpet that calls alone
And silent?

Never the matter,
Never you will,
But sometimes I wonder how much it would mean
If I dared to say
Your name still passed my lips each night
In prayer.

I don't pray to you,
I don't pray for comfort in you,
Yet I find something pulling me back
A default
I once had.
Break this habit,
Shatter it, oh please,
Let it come to nothing
And be broken
At once.

Never the matter,
Never you will,
But sometimes I wonder how much it would mean
If I dared to say
Your name still passed my lips each night
In prayer.

Snowmelt
Written April 15th, 2014

Foolish ice, how dare you think
That fire is for you?

You're letting them touch your pages,
(It's just so warm,)
Crossing your mind each day,
(I'll stay just a bit longer,)
And you excuse it.
(It's a distraction from the past, I'll hold this close before I open my eyes.)

You tell yourself it's a repeat,
(It's like it was last year,)
So foolish and ill-fated,
(Spontaneous, so exquisite,)
And that it should be left behind.
(I'm waiting for my next sign from you. Where, where is it? I want to see!)

You fool, it could disappear as quickly as it came,
(Let's rush ahead,)
You're fragile as it is,
(It's helping me heal,)
It can't possibly be loyal.
(I'll be here for you, I won't leave, I'll be the rock for you, see?)

Look, you're panicking over their every step,
(I just need reassurance,)
The blood is rushing to your head, you'll melt,
(I just don't want to hear it over the ringing in my ears,)
You'll fall apart over nothing, be mended by nothing,
(Oh, but these little things mean so much...)

Have you realized this isn't yours?
(But, they looked at me so--)
This isn't yours?
(Give it time, it could--)
Yours?
(In time.)
Are you sure?
(In time.)
You fool.
(I know.)
But are you ashamed?
(...I cannot show it.)
It may not end well.

Silly ice, when will you learn
that fire isn't for you?

Fro-yo, Silks, and Introversion
Written April 29th, 2014

Honey, your sweetness finally became bitter on my tongue
And I should've known it would come to this all along.

I'll just hold my hazelnut candle.
Let me twirl my hair around my fingers.
No need to think of that.

You can see someone maul on the silver screen, they say it doesn't make you a killer,
But boy, I can't see your silhouette without keeling over, myself.

Oh, none of that--take a bite of this pineapple, child.
Sit back on a blanket in the sunlight, here's a spring wind to tug at my top.
Look anywhere else but those two lines.

You had a face, once, you know,
And steel blue eyes I've found a talent for plucking out of my memory.

Oh, but I can only recall a schoolboy's snaggly grin at a water fight,
That strip of silk, curled around a dried white rose, the corsage bereaved of her flowing dress.
I still have it by my bed, I sometimes wonder where it came from.

I actually don't sleep in that bed, I never sit in our spot on the sofa,
I could only go there to make the piano sing a little. My trumpet and I have long since departed to the mountains.

Now it's here you see,
What's split becomes connected,
It tried to run away,
But I might just find myself watching the door frame
And giggling at something stupid you said as it runs through my head.

I'm not a different person, but I feel like I have to suppress part of myself
So as to not suffocate under the settling dust.
It's as caught in disbelief as I am. Who knew dust could cover its mouth in shock?

It's been nice suppressing your memory,
Drowning you in someone else's scent.

Thank you for reading!
I'll be updating this (hopefully) as I write more. <3 Criticism is always welcome. c:

Updates For Springtime 2014
Why hello there, friendly fellow ferals~ It looks like it's time for a another news update as the weather warms up and we head right into our next colorful season. We've had a fairly laid-back winter, but pretty soon we hope to be getting right back into some new events, and maybe even a bit of spring cleaning while we're at it.

So, without further ado, what's been going on around FeralHeart?

Board & Site Changes

Did someone say Spring Cleaning~?
As of right now, our staff are busy at work, going through board by board and cleaning up any "Please delete!" threads in our site, and otherwise tidying up around the forum. It's a big job to do! In light of this, if you happen to see any "Please delete!" threads lying around, know you're free and welcomed to PM the link to one of our staff, and we'll be happy to delete it (plus, you'll be helping us out a bit, too!).

As a few of you may have noticed, we've updated the Pack/Pride Child Board Information application sticky, located in our Group Advertising Board. We currently have three slots open for those of you with big roleplays that might be interested in having your own child board on the forum. If this is the case, and your roleplay fits the criteria listed in the application, message a staff member with the appropriate RP information, and we'll be happy to look into a child board for you.

For those of you who might've been keeping an eye on our Preset Contest Board, we have a new Preset Contest General Info and Hall of Fame sticky, which will remain in that board as we cycle through the new contests.
(Curious about new contests? Scroll down for more info on the Preset Contest revival~)

Speaking of stickies, we've also updated the Mate Thread Rules sticky in our Character Search board, since it hadn't been updated in quite some time. Happy roleplaying!

On a more serious note, several months back we made an announcement regarding account usage, and it is still very relevant for all users.
IMPORTANT NOTICE (Regarding Account Usage)
The link is here for you to re-read, but here are the main highlights from it:
- Please DO NOT share your account information with anyone (even close friends)
- Do not ask for or give away "free accounts," as this can lead to a mess of trouble for you if the other person decides to misbehave and get themselves restricted from the game.

We've seen some users around the game and forum asking for these "freebie" accounts, and we do implore you to take great care for your accounts, and make one that is your own--do not borrow them from others. The same concept applies to those who give away their old accounts (don't do it, please). Registration opens daily, so new potential members should keep a close eye on the site, check in every hour or two when you can, and you will find it open soon.

Persistence and patience pays off in the long run, we promise!

After a long hiatus, we're pleased to be bringing back our old favorite, the FeralHeart Preset Contest! It will now be held each season, and our kick-off theme is Super Heroes! Wanna join in on the fun? Come check out the contest and let us know what you think in our Spring Preset Contest Info thread!

Just as well, our Spring Member of the Season Voting is well under-way, and we encourage you to come out and vote for who you think are our most deserving and hard-working members this Spring. Voting ends April 10th. Our best to all nominees!

Side Note
We've had some notable changes in the staff lately, as well. Two of our moderators, BigSkippy and LordSameth (Sam also served us as a global moderator during her time on the team) stepped down from the staff not long ago due to some new challenges in their real lives, and having less time than they would like to donate to FH. However, we're very glad to have had them give their time and efforts into the game while they were here, and we wish them the best in all of their endeavors. We hope to see you guys back soon to visit, and thank you for all of your work! Along with this, Sherlockian (also known as Genny) has been working hard in her training as our newest MIT, and we know we'll see her continue to work hard here on the game and forum as she reaches to further help the FH community.

Also, our Feral-Heart-Art DeviantART Group have been busy bees lately, too, working on a brand new layout for the DA page, and a new FHArt Background Contest. Click on the links provided here to go check them out! FHArt Background Contest submission deadline is April 12th!

Thank you for reading, lovelies, and have a great Spring season!

Game Discussion / What's The Most Unique Roleplay You've Encountered?
« on: March 30, 2014, 03:23:28 pm »
Whoa, nelly. I'm posting a thing. Hey gaiz. <3

The topic says it all, though. What's the most unique roleplay you've encountered?
The topic itself is broad, and feel free to take it in a variety of ways. It could be an interesting plotline in a group RP, a certain style of RP that stood out to you, or even just a fun experience you had in a one-on-one RP.
What about it was memorable to you?

In one case of mine, it was actually a roleplay that I didn't even join that stood out in my memory. Yet, it had a very unique quality to it--that is, it was a "hyper-realistic" wolf pack. Characters had names if you so chose, but otherwise the pack was run like a normal wolf pack, they had no human dialog whatsoever. All of their communication was done through describing your character's body language and normal wolf vocalizations.
I'd been sitting at the Stone Bridge when I saw this some months ago, and I remember thinking about what an interesting challenge that would be as a roleplayer and writer.

How to convey these emotions and complex interactions between characters, without using any anthropomorphized speech that we normally give to even the most realistic characters? I think it's a fascinating challenge, and I wish that this RP had taken off. However, the RP itself didn't gain many members, and I myself didn't have the time to join it while I was there.

I've seen several different unique RPs, and this is only one of them. However, the idea kept rolling around in my head, so I really wanted to share it. xD

What're some unique RPs you've seen?

Game Discussion / Attack of the Short-Posts?
« on: October 19, 2013, 05:10:43 pm »
Afternoon/Evening/Morning, floofs~
Although it's been a while since I've made my own little discussion, here, I wanted to see what your opinions are on a roleplay trend I've noticed as of late.

Let's say you're sitting there, roleplaying with your pride, pack, Clan, etc., and majority of those around you prefer paragraph-style roleplay (you can also call this "literate," though this can be the case for any RP styles).

Someone (we'll call her Ellie) makes their post, and it goes a little something like this:
<Ellie> Sleepy-eyed and still warm from her nap, the little wolf pup gave a toothy yawn as the pack around her started to stir. She blinked, looking up at the sky-- it was just now becoming light. -s-

Not a bad RP post, right? Kinda cute, descriptive, and just another waking-up sort of post.

However, did you notice what I added at the end of it?

Yes, the dreaded "-s-" for short-posts! OH NO!

But wait; Ellie's post wasn't all that short, nor was it non-descriptive or lazy by any means... So why would she apologize for it being a "short-post?"

This brings me to my point.
From what I've seen as of late, many roleplayers seem to be under the notion that they must have a RP post that is several paragraphs long for it to truly be adequate. It must be like writing a book, and if they don't have an obscene amount of detail worthy of the literary classics of the 20th century, they surely must be an inadequate, lazy, or just all-around inexperienced roleplayer.
If their post doesn't meet these high-brow expectations, they must apologize at the end of it by saying,
"-s-"
"Sorry, short-post."
"sssssssssssss short short short!"
"Ah, such a short post, I'm sorry! I just can't think of anything right now.. Don't be mad. ;-;"

I find this little misconception quite silly, to be honest.
Though I may not roleplay as much as I used to, I will say that as a seasoned RPer who once ran a wolf RP, which was full to the brim with paragraph-style RPers, I never once got after anyone, or thought less of them if they had only one paragraph, or even one sentence in their post.

Why is this, though? Don't you have make a 198273821+ paragraph long post to be considered "literate?"

The answer, in my opinion, is a no.
The reason behind this can be summed up in one word: Conciseness.

Concise - Adjective; Expressing much in few[er] words; Clear and succinct (Source)

While detail can bring a lot to the table, and be quite stimulating for roleplay, there is nothing wrong with a concise roleplay post, especially when things are getting fast-paced, and you don't necessarily want everyone to spend 5+ minutes on their post.

I have the patience for this, and I enjoy reading longer posts, but being concise and straight-forward at times is nothing to be ashamed of when roleplaying.

So throw those little "-s-" things away; roleplay the way you're comfortable. It is meant to be fun, right? The angst against short-posts is only a misconception in my eyes, and I feel that so long as you're mindful of what's going on in the RP, and take the time to acknowledge others when necessary, making a concise post is nothing to be ashamed of.

So, how do you guys feel about "short-posts" in paragraph-style RP?
