Here are a few tricks for getting higher fps (Less Lag) for FeralHeart!
In the options menu, in the Video settings:
> Rendering Subsystem = OpenGL or Direct3D9 (Set this first!) [Note: If you get no background in chatbox, try switching between them to see if that fixes it.]
> Full Screen = Yes/On (Set this next, then restart the game and continue.) [Reason: Computer won't have to render anything but FH, giving higher fps.] [If for some reason Full Screen glitches, windowed mode works well too and may even work better for some.]
> Video Mode = 640 x 480 [Reason: The smaller the screen, the faster it renders.]
> Anti-aliasing = 0 [Reason: Computer doesn't have to do anything fancy with textures, thus more fps.]
> Water Reflection = No/Off [Reason: Rendering things twice and calculating the reflection lowers the fps a lot.]
> View Distance = 1 [Reason: Does not seem to affect fps by much.]
--- Other tricks (If you've got a really old/crumby PC or just want more fps) ---
> Don't use Item Packs. [Reason: For every new item being rendered (up to 4 per player), your frame rate drops!]
> Delete the fhPodium.FHM. (It will leave you with a void for a background at the character selection screen.) [Reason: You will have extremely high fps while selecting/creating characters, allowing you to log in and switch characters very quickly!]
Notes:
> OpenGL causes the "Missing Chat Background" bug for certain people, which is not so bad if you don't mind looking at the ground or sky to see the different chat colors.
( A fix for this is to resize the PanelCenter.png from 1x1 to 8x8! )
> Direct3D9 causes the "Crashing for no Reason" bug that also only happens to certain people.
> If none of these options work, you can always just look straight down/up so you don't lag while typing.
> These settings do indeed take some time to get used to, kind of like an acquired taste. With these settings on my good laptop, I can stare directly at a large group of people (with Items) and maintain roughly 10 fps! (So much, right? XD)
