Title: Do you have trouble with timezones?
Post by: flowergirlscum on December 05, 2017, 10:07:05 am
Troublesome timezones!

I have noticed that peak times in-game are typically 12-9:30ish am where I am, in Australia. I don't imagine American based players would face this issue too much, but do you? Does this annoy you?

Personally, the down-time is nice! But when looking for new groups, it sure can be a pain in the butt!

I sometimes find it quite annoying, but as you said, some peace and quiet can be nice.
Having a partner in a different timezone is quite saddening, but I have the weekends to stay up late and talk to them.
I personally don't RP, but I can see the troubles that come with that.

Timezones are usually the bane of my existence and yeah I find it sad when you have friends that you can't chat with a lot simply cause you're awake when they're asleep or the other way around and you only get a few minutes with them.

I fortunately haven't had many issues with timezones.. being in EST most of my friends are only a few hours behind or ahead of me so I still have a chance to talk with them. I also find that a lot of the FH community are in EST or other timezones similar so usually during the times I'm online a lot of the user base is online as well.

I myself am an EST timezone, and I find that a lot of players get on late afternoon in that particular timezone, which makes sense because 3-4pm ish is when American students get home from school. Personally though I'm online a lot more in the morning hours of the EST time zone and the population isn't as dense than the afternoon.

Timezones can be pesky obstacles if you have friends in different timezones, so there may be a bit of strategic scheduling needed to organize time to chat with one another. In quite a few cases, it seems as though your friends have been at least partially available during times you've been online in the past, or else you wouldn't have met (with a few exceptions), so that can definitely help, but you do have to make time for it; for those who work jobs or go to school, it can difficult to navigate. If you have the time, it's doable. It's tricky, though.~

I think there is an abundancy of American players in Feral Heart's userbase, which is why those early hours in your time zone are peak hours. Many of the folks I know on the game I had met during the evening hours in Eastern Time, so even for the people whom experience very late or very early hours during the EST evening, it's still doable. They can be a pain, though, and it gets tough when scheduling for parties or meet-ups, because there will inevitably occur some kind of time-administered obstacle.

During the down-times, there are hidden opportunities, though. c: With all of the craziness absent in the maps, there are probably a few people whom are looking for the same thing as you are-- a roleplay, an opportunity, something to do. Even with fewer Feralheartians around, there's still room for creating some bonds and forming an enjoyable roleplay. ^^

Timezones don't usually bother me much, although, most of my friends are never usually online because of the different timezones. Therefore, I am in the pacific timezone, and sometimes it can be a little harder trying to catch my friends throughout the day. But I don't have that many ingame friends honestly, I mean, I'm am introvert!

I have a major problem with time zones, I'm somewhere in the +7 UTC zone which is practically 12 hours (or more) in the future from EST, meaning that I'm mostly active around the time where everyone sleeps or plan to sleep. The only time everyone else is active is when I am about to or already sleeping, ehe. It's still fun meeting those who are still online by the time, even when it's not so plenty.

I don't see the problem. Once they are online, they're online. I'm pretty sure if you have school break you guys can catch up on things

I thankfully usually dont because i am on the same continent as most players! The problem is, i am on the south-south of that continent.. So, rip? But i have a very dear friend who lives in a vastly different timezone to mine and i don't get to spend as much time as i'd like with them. Real sad but it's what i gotta deal with. When life gives you lemons you do a lemon pie.
...Wait let me rephrase that...

I live in central US, so the peek for me is always around 4 or 5. It's pretty nice I guess, but when I'm a person who works throughout the day and doesn't get home till late and wants to hop on, It's difficult to find people within my schedule. Though, really makes me miss old FH were you could jump on at anytime and still have a lot of members on, aha. A lot of them at night were speaking some other languages. And It was always funny back in the day when you'd stay home from school and you could tell who else stayed home from school too.. xD

It's not the time zone themselves that bothers me, but the time differences that come with living in an other continent does. Every event I want to join I'd have to leave as soon as it starts. No really, it has been literally every event so far...
