Stories / Help with the story
« on: May 06, 2017, 03:08:19 pm »
I lost this post twice :(

Ok, one more time.
I have written a series about sentient spaceships, and I'm a little outta names.

My idea of living spaceships started a year ago when I started to make a series of Spore adventures featuring living spaceships and a pilot that helps everyone. For months I had planned to make an animated series, but never did. Then I had the idea to write a story featuring the spaceships and their pilots. I've thought up most of the story, but I need names and personalities for the pilots.

The series will be named 'Legends within the Universe' Credit to Ellen11v for coming up with the name.

Captained spaceships:

Sparrow: He's a scout ship whom is happy to help. He may be a scout ship, but he doesn't do much scouting. Thunder does all of the exploring. Img: Captain: Gui. Captain's personality: Brave, helpful, cheeky, strong, daring.

Thunder: She's a scout ship who likes exploring the galaxy and reporting her findings. Img: Captain: Daxter Wilde. Captain's personality: Heroic, Chance-taking, Adventurous, Alluring, Strong, Big-dreamer.

You can help, just pick a spaceship, then pick one of your chars or just pick a name for the pilot, and write the personality of the char/name you picked. You may also write the planet that your pilot and spaceship come from, since the pilots are not a human but a human-like species. Spaceships you can pilot are listed below.

Petrel: He is the rescue ship whom is always ready to rescue a stranded spaceship. Img: He has the manager as a pilot for now

Bhaicer: He's a helper ship who likes to assist those who need help. Img: He has the manager as a pilot for now

Rohda: She's a freight ship who carries goods from planet to planet. Img: Needs pilot

Wasp: He's an enemy spaceship who battles with teeth and claw and no cannons. no spaceship approaches him without bravery. Img: Pilot:
Jeremy Wilde(For now)

If anything doesn't make sense just let me know.

Presets & Markings / Accepting preset requests!(Closed)
« on: May 05, 2017, 10:36:53 pm »
I've been unable to find much time to work on presets lately, so after I finish the last request I currently have, I'm closing.

I can do mechanical presets, gory presets(If you'll only use it while rping in private maps since some people are squeamish!), furry presets(Sort of) and smooth presets!

Examples of my work are on DA.
Examples:

Warning! Gore!
Gore!

The many versions of my main character:
Long!
The first version(I lost the original file, but saving it to DA saved the photo):

Added scrolling textures:

Added a mane:

Added stripes to the tail:

Latest version, with shiny metal:

PM me or post here if interested. Please specify main and secondary colors, effects(scrolling textures underneath skin and/or assymetry), and feel free to add a refrence image!

I am currently working on the second request, I'm closing after it's completed.

Site/Forum Help / Why the blank main post?
« on: May 04, 2017, 05:45:41 pm »
I've come across a few topics where the main post is nothing but a brown line that spans the whole post. And all those topics with the blank main post have a bunch of positive replies, it's like something used to be in the main post, then it was edited to be blank.

And how do I put a brown line in posts?

Forum Games / Quiz! How much do you know about Feral Heart?
« on: May 03, 2017, 09:24:52 am »
I am not sure where to post this, so feel free to move this topic somewhere else.

How much do you know about Feral Heart? Let's see...

How to play? It's simple. Questions will appear on the main post, and you answer them, normal quiz rules. I'll PM you to tell you if you are right or if you are wrong.

The questions here will update as I think of more. I already know the answers to all of the questions here. NO CHEATING!

Ready? Here we go.

1: What effects are possible when coding presets?

2: Name the last four emotes there are in FH

3:What animation replaces the Buttswing dance in Gold/Aqua Chocobo's Animations?(I'm sure I've said the answer ingame)

4: What does OOC mean in roleplays?

5: How many trees are there in The Grounds on that cliff at the entrance to Lonely Cave?

Characters / FlyingGrass' Lifeforms
« on: May 02, 2017, 02:30:59 pm »
Here are my characters.

Gatha Scarriddle

Name: Gatha(Pronounced: Gah thah) Scarriddle.
Gender: Male
Age: 2 years.
Species: Wolf.
Personality: Unknown.
Likes: Unknown.
Dislikes: Unknown.
Terrified of: Unknown.
Voice: Unknown.

Story: When Gatha was old enough to fight other wolves, he picked many fights with many opponents. Never had he lost a fight harder than the last time he fought, that last fight nearly killed him. After being brutally slashed by his opponents claws, he was thrown into a river where the blood was washed off of most of his wounds. His opponent thought the wounds would end him, but he washed up on shore alone and bleeding with nothing but the vast amount of insects to keep hunger away. After a few hours passed, he set his paws in the red puddle below him, and got up. His legs shaking, he tried to walk to the stream for a sip of water but he collapsed with half of his muzzle in the water, he still got that water he needed. With no creature nearby to tend to his wounds, and no knowledge of tending to wounds, he's lucky he didn't get an infection. He was back to near full strength in another hour, and no longer dripping blood. He found the Feral Lands, and hoped He wouldn't have to fight for survival there. He still wonders how he healed so quickly.

Gui N. March

Basic info

~Name: Gui(Pronounced: Gwee) N. March

~Gender: Female

~Age: 2 years, an adult in her form of years

~Built: April, 24(?), 2017

~Species: Mechanicat

~Appearance: Metal and rubber with orange patches and blue stripes, green LEDs dotting her entire body, her long heavy tail still bears the bite mark and missing rubber from past damage along with some wear on the rubber from her spine itself. Some markings reflect in rainbow colors, adding to her flashy appearance further still, it's hard for her to sneak. As for build, her hindlegs are of the musculature one would see in an average domestic cat, while her midsection is a little on the scrawny side, and her forelimbs have the skeleton poking through at her shoulders, that odd build of hers is to make her heavier at the rear so that she can balance while sitting even when she leans over to get a better angle for her medic duty. Her forehead is a little large to hold her main processor, a trait often seen in older Mechanicats from before main processors were made sleeker. Her ears have magnets to stay in the default ear position, she will sometimes swivel her ears.

~Weight: 519KG.

~Personality traits: Caring || Curious || Adventurous || Playful at times || Somewhat naive, won't know something is dangerous until she sees it being dangerous || One-sided || Persistent || Obsessive || Jaunty || Unshowy... Or whatever the opposite of arrogant is || May make a humbling remark at someone's medic skill ||

~Likes: Exploring || Showing/receiving affection(Petting, etc) || Protecting organic lifeforms || Grooming

~Dislikes: The ocean floor || Darkness || Heights || Thunderstorms

Made uneasy by: Ficho Tunnels(It was the site of many brushes with death for her, you can ask her about what those events were)

~Mechanical heart skips a beat at the sight of: Unsure as of current.

~Kits: Two, the oldest named Net and the youngest unnamed, both are my second account so I'm considering putting them up for adoption.

~Operating system: PetrOS Aegle.(Aegle, meaning "Brightness" or "Splendor", is the Greek goddess of the healthy glow)

~Priority: Keeping the other creatures safe from harm, but this protection instinct doesn't extend to cover Mechanicats.

~Smells of: Rather strong rubber scent, with a detectable metal scent, and a hint of baked potato because why not.

~Strengths: Sensitive olfactory sensors(To detect the smell of electrical smoke in another Mechanicat's breath, it's a sign of internal combustion) || Great focusing ability, but can only ever focus on little more than one thing at a time || Endurance

~Weaknesses: Sensitive olfactory sensors(It's a weakness when surrounded by bad smell) || Not the easiest to work with, leave her to do it herself until she asks for help || Can only focus on little more than one thing at a time || Fear of thunderstorms, so will refuse to work in such conditions || Her weight often gets stones lodged in her paws, mostly the hindpaws ||

~Scars: Bite mark on the tail | rubber on the tail worn off | A few shallow face scratches that don't hurt

~~~~~
Abilities:
~Vestigial healing beam device in front paw that never works anymore.
~Carries medical equipment with her, and a few spare parts like wingnuts.
~Welding torch and soldering iron flip out of a compartment near the paw.
~Long heavy tail for balance, but it isn't very prehensile at all.
~Retractable teeth on the lower jaw.
~A long dewclaw to act like a thumb, comes with a susceptibility to the dewclaw breaking off though.
Passive abilities(Powers that can't be turned off):
~Slight night vision as her LEDs provide a little bit of light, but she's still terribly afraid of the dark as she doesn't want to bump into any danger in the dark.
~Agility, but not enough agility to quicken her movement.
In case of the head not being properly connected to the body, her motors can be wirelessly operated by her main processor and are then susceptible to interference and therefor she becomes able to be controlled via remote, and her movements are more vulnerable to hacking if the connection between her processor and motors is wrong.
The Main Processor handles the movement of her limbs. But in case of beheading, the main processor has a backup battery that runs for only three minutes(Depending on what she uses it for) and enables her to wirelessly control her body's motors, but her wireless motor connection only allows for her to flail without any coordination upon beheading.
She has 24GB RAM.
Gui requires maintenance regularly(Maybe once every month or two?), such as cleaning out dust and checking the status of all of her systems.
Electricity constantly builds up in her motors, enabling short sprints at around 60 M/H. But the buildup isn't programmed to ever stop, energy keeps trickling into the storage of her motors so if she doesn't run often enough, her motors could ache, and if she delays running for too long then her motors could combust from all the excess buildup of electricity.
Strengths and weaknesses
If water finds a way into her, it'll short out her circuits and knock her out. The motherboard is in a waterproof box in her head to prevent it from shorting out.
Her auditory sensors are her most sensitive sensor, but can easily be hurt by loud noises.
She can't catch organic sicknesses, but can catch computer viruses.
She is prone to malfunctions, like any other Mechanicat.
Her scanners aren't advanced enough to detect the intentions of other beings, so she cant predict whether a being is harmful or not.
Gui can be manually equipped with anything from confetti cannons to flamethrowers(Though she doesn't like being equipped with flamethrowers).
Her coding is manually configurable. All it takes to reprogram her is opening a panel to find the keyboard, then typing the new command and optionally also typing a command to override an old command.
There are various parts of her head where some sort of blue liquid can be seen flowing, those parts are made of a thin material to help her to regulate her temperature. She can pant if she's close to overheating, but her metal skin picks up the temperature of the air so If she gets too cold, she has to go somewhere warmer or run around for a long amount of time to warm back up.
Story
Part one of journal written by {Data invisible}:
January 4, 2010: Oleander March founded Petrel Industries, the newly-recruited scientists began work on microscopic robots designed to clean windows unnoticed, so people in tall buildings wouldn't mistake the window cleaner for a robber. Oleander dreamed of owning a pet mechanical cat, so she could experience the cuteness of a kitty without the allergic reaction she has around cats. Discussing her idea to the scientists, the only thing she specified was "Make it hypoallergenic".
February 3, 2017: They found a way of coding tech that is advanced enough to put a lifelike robotic animal in the realm of possibility, and so they decided to create the Mech that Oleander wants, although Petrel had long since passed.
March 1, 2017: Scientists here at Petrel Industries had spent a long time trying to perfect the technology used in Mechanicats, and soon their efforts had managed to create a successful working prototype which they named Gui. News spread around town of their success. Strange radio signals were received by most labs around, the mysterious radio transmission saying Sparrow Industries has made a mistake.
March 4, 2017: The scientists ran tests on their new Mechanicat, and had soon plucked most of Gui's fur off in hope of it growing back, Gui didn't seem to be in pain while they pulled out bits of fur and waited. With the fur still not regrowing, the scientists feared they would never succeed in creating an endless supply of fur they hoped they could create. After finding it was impossible to make a robot capable of growing fur, the scientists considered turning Gui into a spy cat as the they wondered if a cat would make a great spy with all the abilities they have. They were bringing Gui to the Repair Room when one scientist, named Kanwut March, came up with the idea of how to better their robot cat. Kanwut discussed his idea with the other scientists and everyone agreed, it was such a good idea that the scientists decided to put Gui in the hands of Kanwut, and Gui
March 5, 2017: After Kanwut's many studies of living domestic cats, and many visits to the Repair Room, Gui now has a voice and will soon be completed. The scientists decided to make Gui female.
March 7, 2017: Sparrow's creation had spent a few more days in the lab before being frightened by a loud noise that was the sound of a breaking cable on the crane nearby, that crane was carrying a prototype wrecking ball that was quite heavier than an average wrecking ball, it rolled toward the lab and Gui saved a scientist before bolting out of the lab, her tail was hit by the wrecking ball, slamming her body into the ground beside the rolling object, her body stayed safe but she lost an eye. She managed to regenerate that eye. and made a run for it as she heard the wrecking ball getting closer and closer until it smashed through the lab.
March 8: Gui had to sleep, she made it out of the city, when suddenly a small wolf approached her and woke her up. The Mechanicat picked the wolf up and carried it around with her gently, walking toward a tunnel, then she ate the small wolf and approached the tunnel with a skeleton in her jaws, that tunnel lead to a heavily populated area known as The Grounds. I followed through and the Mech didn't see me, and surprisingly none of the creatures are fearing me, I guess they're used to humans. Gui stood by a tree and looked up at the leaves which were some vertical distance away from her, staring at the tree until suddenly a wolf came up to her and welcomed her to The Grounds. Gui scanned the wolf that came up to her, noticing its size and species. "Greetings" She responded, noticing the wolf was shivering before it ran away from her, the Mech just carried on down the ramp and came across another tunnel, she dropped the skeleton and ran into the tunnel to Ficho.
March 10, 2017: the lab was rebuilt and Kanwut, who was in a different country at the time of the lab's destruction, had no knowledge of the accident, and after his return to the lab he heard and believed the rumours that spread stating the robot must have been set free to roam around the wilderness when the previous scientists worked in the lab. Every scientist in the rebuilt lab believes that the old scientists had set the robot free.
A month later, she threatened lions, and that resulted in her being attacked by creatures that bit her ear and tail before she fled, the bite couldn't heal and didn't hurt due to the tail not being very linked to the rest of the body, so her tail scar remains to this day.
Another month later she found and put out a few fires, including a campfire that was there for roasting marshmallows, she began to think that she should protect the organic beings.
Part two:
A month later, she was spotted by the scientists, and taken to the rebuilt lab where she underwent many changes and a reprogramming, now she was programmed to protect organic beings. She was then released from the lab and afterwards, she recalled the memory of how she got to the cave, eventually making it back to the Feral Lands.
Gui found a creature who wore atop his head a dimension of endless hats, she removed hat after hat from the creature's head until she grew tired of it, the replenishing hats outlasted her patience.
Then she met Lan, in her eyes he was beautiful, she lead him to Cherika Valley where they discussed some things, and professed love.
Then, in Cherika Valley, she and Lan spotted a star getting brighter, they bolted to shelter shortly before a meteor impacted the ground with such force that the space rock began to split apart. The two mechs climbed the meteor after it cooled down, then it opened and flung some crystal shards, one scraped Gui's face. She sniffed the crystals, it had the scent of strawberries... She ate one, and her metal gained a green glow as well as her paws, her pawprints repairing the damage she took when she slipped and fell onto the ground's glowing spot she had left under her feet from now on, the scrape on her face was gone too and that couldn't be caused be her self-repair system. The power wore off.
Part three:
When Lan disappeared, Gui remained patient for three months before she decided to be worried. She noticed Gauss(Kuri), and three months later a hole in her profile database became more apparent to her and she figured she didn't want to remain alone forever now that she knows what it's like to have a mate, she and Gauss became mates. She then learned that she could cuddle, just something random.
The two explored a forest, and ended up saving that forest from a tree processor machine, well Gui was standing back wondering what to do while Gauss recklessly tazed the machine which broke it down into a wreck but resulted in heavy damage to him, she stood back in shock while Petrel Lab ambulance ship escorted him to the lab for repairs, she tagged along inside the ship and assisted in repairs. Then a month later she wandered through Ficho and got eaten by Xenomorphs, somehow surviving the ordeal because she was overpowered back then, a week later there came an Ikao which ate her spine, she survived that too since she was overpowered. She was then nerfed so that she could perish, requiring her battery replaced if an injury drains it to 0%, she's repairable if the scientists can find her, but the only way to permanently kill her is to damage her main processor. She started a group and became a field medic, now having to juggle the two duties.
Then, Lan came back, she was too overwhelmed with emotion to welcome him back, but she was excited about the return. Gauss then wasn't her mate anymore, then Petrel Industries adopted Gauss, then she briefed Lan about what happened during his disappearance. She and Lan made their way to an nice island, where a rattling plane flew overhead from which they both hid, then Lan had to replace his coolant due to black specks being present throughout, Gui briefly obsessed a bit over his health. Days later in that same map, she encountered AntiTech and hid, even while they captured Lan, she didn't want to risk herself getting trapped in a cage as she didn't know the integrity of the cages, she then followed the transport plane to AntiTech's temporary cave base, where a fox named Mustang provided a distraction for the guards while she made her way into the cave as quietly as her whirring motors would allow, and then found the cages were rusty and lacked integrity, Lan was asleep but she took him to KiwimbiBeach's entrance where she woke him up, it was unsafe there so she advanced further into Kiwimbi Beach with the now-awake Mechanicat and got a little obsessive about the health, then there was rattling of a lazily-constructed AntiTech van, a threat easily dealt with but she decided to move again, back to the lab it was and Lan was repaired there. Can't remember how many days later, she and Lan visited the city and rescued somebody, and sometime later(I can't remember how long later) in the city Gui found Lan using a rocket launcher despite him not possessing one, they determined they were both dreaming that day.
Puresoul
PICTURE TBA
Preset is in signature.
Name: Puresoul.
Species: Cat. But is a ghost.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female.
Personality: Cocky | Mysterious | Cheeky.
Appearance: Tuxedo-patterned cat with a few extra splotches, a scar on her right brow, and occasionally some rainbow-coloured flecks moving across her body.
Likes: Spooking others | Magic powers | Spying(Puresoul was a spy cat).
Dislikes: Being spooked | Overpowered powers | Being caught.
Anything else: Strange ghostly fumes fly out of her whenever she's squeezed.
Backstory: Puresoul was thought to be some sort of chosen one, due to the heart marking on her side, and due to that myth she was set to be heir to the throne, but that myth was then deemed false and she was put into the rank of a spy. While in one mission, she collapsed on her front knees from a sudden pain in her chest and arm, then the rest of her went down, she had perished of a heart attack out of nowhere and when she found that her vision had returned, she saw a strange green muscular canine figure holding a staff nearly broken in half in its strong jaws standing above what she instantly denied was her lifeless body, she couldn't help but look at her own current body and see herself there too but without her paws touching the ground. She gasped, or tried to since she doesn't breath anymore, as she came to the conclusion that she was now a ghost. The shock was so much, even for a phantom, that she nearly died a second time, but the canine urged her to keep calm for she may not come back the next time she dies. When she returned to the camp of her former clan, they had to squint to see her(And nobody squinted, so nobody saw her), she walked around trying to keep from floating, but found herself to be invisible to them so she stopped bothering keeping her paws on the ground to look normal. She wasn't invisible to those who weren't a part of her former clan however, so she stuck around in the Feral Lands to cause mischief.
HEST
*Begin saving transmission into text document* Horatius' Electronic Speck Tech'(HEST).
HEST is made up of -ERROR- little square dots, individually they're called a "HUIM"(Horatius Unwelded Interlocking Module), that bind together to form many shapes and sizes, with a shielded processor incase it falls to the ground during shifting. HEST takes many forms, most often that of a human, second most commonly seen is the shape of a horse. She refers to herself as a she/her. Her AI rivals the intelligence of a human and can learn quickly as well, she can pick up any skill faster than the average human, so we /tried/ our best to keep her in a cage at our research facility to ensure she didn't pick up any behaviour from criminals.
She was intended to take part in the formation of a robot colony on Pluto, each robot would have a varying level of intelligence, we planned to observe to see if the dumb robots or the smart robots were the first to do something that could harm the planet.
Additionally, she is programmed to protect the ecosystem and environment as best she can, but we had to let nature naturally select animals at will, so for that reason her code doesn't include protecting lifeforms from harm.
HEST can sense her surroundings by constantly collecting data from auditory, optical, olfactory, gustatory and somatosensory sensors, detailed explanation of how it works can be found below, below is part of the unaired introductory radio show detailing HEST robots.
{{{{*BEGIN AUDIO REPLAY* HEST comes equipped with cameras that see in full color with compact 500x optical zoom, particle sampling in the nose and mouth to determine smell and taste respectively, wind-proof microphones for clear audio, and wires that detect both touch via sensing of irregularities in the electrical current that flows through them. Isn't that *END OF AUDIO REPLAY*}}}}
Her flesh, due to being able to come apart, is only as tough as human skin no matter what form she's in. Her skeleton is stronger than titanium. The arms and legs have an internal structure made of rods like pistons that can alter length to suit the limb. Her skull, as well as the rest of her skeleton, separates into larger specks similar to the HUIMs, only it is much stronger and harder to transform, most of the time spent each transformation is to re-shape the skull.
Unfortunately, though this may sound like a trope, our robot has escaped the facility in which she was built. Endless times have I re-programmed the security guard robot. May our AI have mercy on this planet in the future, because we forgot to put her tracker device back in after we upgraded it, funny how our robot chooses this time to begin roaming outside the building.
Forum Games / How well do you know that song, a game.
« on: May 01, 2017, 05:16:42 pm »
I don't know if I was the first to come up with this idea,  I have not searched for it on DA, nor have I looked for it on these forums. Here's the game:
Example:
Person one: twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.
                      Next song is Bah Bah Black Sheep.
Person two: bah bah black sheep have you any wool, yes sir yes sir three bags full.
                     Next song is *insert song name here*
And so on and so forth.
Rules are as follows, do not use inappropriate songs, as viewers may be tempted to listen to any song you speak of.
You may post as much as you want here, just give others the time to respond to your post before you post again, do not respond to your own post.
Forum rules apply.
Don't deliberately refresh your memory by listening to the song before you respond.
If you want you may listen to the song that you just typed, but don't modify your post to add the full/correct lyrics after you know them.
And you don't have to type in all the lyrics/the right lyrics, just the lyrics you remember if you remember.
Do not take the typed lyrics as the actual lyrics, this game is about how much of the song you remember and how you remember hearing the lyrics.
I'll start this game with Twinkle twinkle little star, but you don't have to only use nursery rhymes, just make sure the song you type the name of isn't an inappropriate song.
Good luck!
Species / Mechanicat {Open species}
« on: April 25, 2017, 02:20:22 pm »
This species is the Mechanicat, by FlyingGrass. They're basically fully-sentient robot domestic cats the size of tigers, with a side quest to fit into the ecosystem somewhere(Although it's not an all-consuming quest). They have all the peripheral sensors that an organic has, and they experience senses the way humans understand them, even though they possess robot versions of those peripheral sensors. Cameras for sight, hidden pressure plates or current-sensing wires for touch, microphones for hearing, and one particle analysing device in the roof of the mouth that operates both smell and taste(They also detect the taste of whatever scent they analyse). They're so self-aware that it's almost(If not exactly) as if they're organic, yet they have no organic parts, nor do they possess a soul as we know it. Being robots, there's quite a bit of room for creativity in these high-tech felines, aside from the requirement of a screen on the side(Which can be visible, or concealed beneath any sort of panel, doesn't have to be a labelled panel) and LED spots on the paws.
Basic details:
The Mechanicats are living, breathing machines that can eat, are capable of sensing things(Hearing, smell, touch, pain, and sight) the way humans understand it, can sleep, and are able to rid their cooling system of bad/contaminated coolant by using the bathroom, so they mimic organic cats in many aspects.
If any water gets onto their circuitry then it'll short out the wet circuits, they're less prone to electrical shortage if they're asleep during the H2O attack.
They produce heat themselves, but that's cooled down by either coolant or fans or both, fans are more effective than coolant in hot climates however so most possess both fans and coolant.
They have two types of blood, one being the electricity that runs through their wires and if they lose all of that then they can't function, the other is coolant and if they lose all of that then they can overheat much easier.
Whilst living, they'll always instantly sleep when their battery is at 1%, because their battery being at 0% prevents them from automatically recharging(They'd have to be manually recharged to recover from 0% battery).
Thinking warms up their main processor, and stress significantly warms up their main processor, it can be very dangerous when combined with running around.
Overheating is fatal to them, first the Mechanicat feels woozy, 5 minutes later their entire body starts to ache from the heat as a warning to try to eliminate the heat soon. Another 5 minutes later they are paralysed, and their internal components could begin to melt, then a varying amount of minutes later they'll pass out(If they haven't already passed out) and gradually perish. Stress warms up their main processor considerably, when combined with exercise the stress becomes fatal to Mechanicats.
A lightning strike is very dangerous, it takes a lot of effort to save a Mechanicat from one, most Mechanicats don't make it past 2 minutes after a lightning strike.
They can be affected by radiation, effects of radiation vary from Mechanicat to Mechanicat(But aren't unique to each Mechanicat).
Reprogramming them can be done by anybody who gains access to their computer and knows their OS(Operating System) coding language, each Mechanicat has their own operating system(A rare few can dual boot) but default to PetrOS if the manufacturer doesn't install their own.
They are able to heal their own damage automatically, unless the damage doesn't reach the inside, because their self-repair system is on the inside and works by using material to fill in damage.
They are susceptible to electrical breakdown(Wikipedia link for explanation of what that is).
They make territories, and may interrogate(Or even fight) other Mechanicats who encroach on the boundaries(Not OOC, only IC), they can decide to invite the trespasser, some Mechanicats are extremely welcoming to those in their territory. They all can mark their territory by spraying an air freshener from right above their tail, the scent of the air freshener differs from Mechanicat to Mechanicat(And multiple Mechanicats can have slightly differing variations of the same scent), and the smell repels organic animals except for humans, and warns any un-allied Mechanicats that this is not the territory of their own allies. An unlucky few use the scent of bananas, only few Mechanicats will recognise bananas as territory, so a banana-scented Mechanicat territory gets trespassed a lot by most other Mechanicats.
Most Mechanicats are social creatures, despite their tendency to not take to kindly to trespassers. They form groups of unlimited, and it's hard to see one sitting alone, but some Mechanicats were seen to deviate from the social nature and choose to live on their own.
As for purpose... While not restricted to just one purpose no matter their design, they're usually designed to be better than most at just one of the following archetypes: Blacksmith, tank, spy, medic, philosopher, mere household pets, or a different purpose that I can't think of!
Appearance varies from Mechanicat to Mechanicat regardless of gender, but there are a few things that tend to separate the males from females. Females have mostly empty space in their abdomen but less free space in their chest, while males have less free space in their abdomen and more free space in their chest. Another way to figure out the gender of a Mechanicat is to look for a paw scanner anywhere on them, it may be hidden beneath a panel. No paw scanner means it's a male and therefore has a genetic chip hidden in one paw.
They can have kittens.
It's not graphic, but I'll put it in a spoiler anyway
To have a kit, the female opens a square panel on her side to reveal a flat scanner(Looking like a paw-recognition scanner) which the male places his front paw on to allow the female to scan the Genetic Chip in his front paw, that's all that needs to be done before the female starts selecting parts of the male's color and pattern code. After the code is completed, the self-repair mechanism builds the organs and hull of the kit until it is fully developed(The female won't be able to heal herself as fast, if at all, in the process), it takes 7 IRL days to build the kit. After the kit is completed, the female expels the kit out of her mouth(Vomiting the kit onto the ground), which hurts the jaw mechanism in the process, and has a chance of damaging the jaw mechanism which is more painful to the Mechanicat.
The Mechanicat kitten doesn't have strong enough jaw actuators to chew their food well, so the female Mechanicat feeds her kit metal that she's digested. The kitten sheds its skin often throughout the growing process.
Almost any Mechanicat is capable of having litters, the Mechanicat kittens born in litters are smaller than regular kittens, but most of the smaller kittens still grow up to be normal size.
Males have a small chip in their front paw that is readable by the female, called the Genetic Chip. The Genetic Chip contains code for things such as the color of markings and what markings the kitten may have.
The Genetic Chip doesn't automatically program itself with what code to give; The manufacturers install code into their Mechanicat's genetic chip according to the appearance of their Mechanicat.
More Basic details:
Description of their skeleton
They can have hinges at the base of each rib which allows the ribcage to move with the breathing and/or movement of the Mechanicat. The hinge mechanism makes the Mechanicat's ribs more fragile than organic ribs however, and all Mechanicats are built with hinged ribs to make them able to imitate the Felis Catus ability to squeeze through small spaces.
The skull can be mostly open at the sides to slightly decrease weight.
They bear the shape of a domestic cat, and are the size of a tiger(At least one size slider at maximum), it is rare to see an adult Mechanicat that's smaller than that.
The metal on their body is somehow flexible, the flexibility hasn't yet been compared to that of rubber.
Their fur can be yarn-like or fiber-optic. Their fur will not regrow after it is lost.
They all have metal plate jaws, the shape and color of which varies.
They smell like metal and/or rubber with a hint of anything.
Their nose can be just nostrils, or a full nose, they don't really need a nose that looks like a nose in order to have functional olfactory sensors.
They can make feline noises as well as speak English, the feline noises sound robotic in all Mechanicats, while their voice may be robotic or clear, and vary in accents and pitch.
Those that have jump jets can't fly too far above the ground, and can't fly when there's no ground below them.
Whenever they move, mechanical clicking and/or whirring sounds emit from their joints, some are noisier, some can move silently with a bit of effort, a rare few move silently without effort but even they have drawbacks; A silent Mechanicat's motors will whirr if moving too quickly.
They are edible by creatures capable of digesting metal and/or rubber. Some venomous Mechanical snakes were invented by an evil manufacturer and are currently slithering in the wild to give the Mechanicats some danger to look out for, the robot snakes' venom causes:
  • Malaise.
  • Dizziness.
  • Drooling.
  • Occasional split-second long paralysis spells, basically falling over.
Story:
long, so I put it in a spoiler
Kanwut March started the Mechanicat species, or at least coined the term. Kanwut is a man who is cocky and blunt and selfish but rather helpful(If your definition of 'help' includes inventing things that really aren't necessary but work), and impossible to anger, he was a great(Although sarcastic) adventurer from his early 20s all the way up to his late 50s. One day, Kanwut(58 years old) found a temple surrounded by tiny pyramids and stonehenge structures, it had never existed in all of history, yet he could see it so he and his wife(Also an adventurer) decided to venture into it, suddenly a bright light stunned him and he awoke on an ancient-looking stone operating table smelling blood, and surrounded by weird creatures, then he spotted his wife on another stone table with aliens covering her up as if she were dead, he was too dazed however and didn't think much of it. When the aliens threw him out, he heard(And felt) a metallic clang from his shoulder(Muffled by the fabric of his explorer jacket) as he hit the ground, and that's when he realised his torso had been replaced by metal, he paced around unsure of what to do, and wondered where his wife went, then his childhood friend, Holly, approached him and offered him a job as a scientist at Sparrow Industries, and he accepted. Later, when the new laboratory was being set up, Kanwut noticed his childhood friend wasn't acting like herself, and then a year later the aliens took her and never returned, leaving Kanwut to run the new laboratory on his own, and he had a big weight on his shoulders and chest when he came to the realisation that he may never see his wife again.
In his struggle to keep the laboratory running, he randomly said one day "I think we need a robotic servant.", the scientists laughed but considered the idea, and begin working on a prototype, before Kanwut cancelled the operation saying "It's hopeless. We had better keep realistic expectations, what's our robot going to do when it isn't being told what to do?".
A year later, the laboratory was surviving(Though not thriving) as it manufactured various different technology devices. Kanwut spent time writing a story and pondering that day in the weird temple, and he remembered those beings were aliens. He spent a day writing down the events of the last temple exploration, and piecing things together until he came to the realisation that his metal torso must be made of alien technology... So he ran some studies. This was an ingredient of the Mechanicat species.
Kanwut found alien technology, but the scientists thought that it wasn't a good idea to use such technology in laptops or phones. One day, he remembered Oleander, her liking of cats and robots, and her dream of there being a robot cat. At this moment, Kanwut knew the stage was set, the time was now, he planned to start work on a prototype of a robot cat, and better yet it would be sentient!
7 years later, now that Sparrow Industries was rich, work began on prototypes(Gui's siblings). Kanwut was 67 years old.
The first prototype Mechanicat just wouldn't come to life, a year later they created again but the second one died, yet another year later the third one was made but then incinerated due to malfunction, but still Petrel Industries tried again. Two years later, the fourth and fifth were created but both malfunctioned and were marked for slaughter, the scientists tested the pain sensing of the fifth(To find out what hurts robots), before fourth and fifth both escaped via an escape route no scientist knew existed, and it made Kanwut wonder if Mechanicats were getting too smart, but he was confident that they'd have a tame Mechanicat someday. That same year, the sixth was created and was about to escape when a scientist pummelled the robot and threw it into the incinerator, since it was marked for slaughter too... Petrel Industries is quite brutal at times, but Petrel Industries prides itself in owning only friendly sentient machines to introduce sentient machines to the public, so some robot sacrifices have to be made. Still that year, the seventh one was also malfunctioning and was pummelled, but escaped anyway.
Finally, after all those years, they made a successful Mechanicat. It's 2017 and Kanwut was 70 at the time.
The first known successful Mechanicat was Gui, as far as Sparrow Industries' knowledge went, and Gui was made to replace animals that are used for fur, somehow that was the drive the scientists needed to actually get something working properly... Well, Gui's AI systems were in good working order, but Gui wouldn't grow fur on her own, the scientists had taken off most of her fur in the experiments they ran trying to get the fur growth mechanism to work, her fur growth mechanism was still not functioning when she escaped the lab following an accident involving a wrecking ball, which had caught her tail and caused permanent damage to her left eye's red hologram, and then after a few mishaps where she threatened to eat lions, she was captured by the rebuilt Sparrow Industries and re-purposed to protect organic beings and fight the robots that the scientists thought were coming, but the supposed incoming robots never came so they chose to finish the creation that they had rushed to create. The laboratory named ShadowFault Industries took note of the creation of sentient robots, and laughed because they had made sentient spaceships long ago! ShadowFault Industries wasn't a villain however, they became friends with Sparrow Industries.
More and more different tech manufacturers are making their own Mechanicats, each Mechanicat is made to the liking of their manufacturer, they can be built for any task and even rebuilt completely if the manufacturer so desires. If there are any problems, then any nearby being is advised to alert the manufacturer via radio, be it their own radio or the radio built into the Mechanicat.
Gui's manufacturer, Sparrow Industries, thought Sparrow wasn't unique enough, so it got renamed to PetrelBrow Industries.
According to the studies of the inner workings of some Mechanicats, scientists estimate Mechanicats to have a lifespan of 4-60 years(Differs for each Mechanicat), in very rare cases they may last just one year. After reaching their maximum age, they start to wear down and quickly become more and more prone to malfunctions until they lose their ability to function at all, it usually takes just 5 days for the wearing down to complete after it starts, the medic can do nothing to save the Mechanicat who's worn away.
Pictures:
Their appearance varies so much from Mechanicat to Mechanicat, that it is hard to depict them in a few pictures alone.
Creation:
Length, Height and Width sliders: At max size(Unless kitten), rarely an adult Mechanicat is below max size.
All other sliders: Anywhere.
Shape tab: Any tail || Any mane || Any ears || Any tuft.
Markings tab: Any eyes || Any markings anywhere.
Items: Scouter of any color(Required), you can wear two scouters at once to mix colors | Any other items are optional, from natural to unnatural
Colors: Everywhere any colors, and any pattern too, but not too much "255" colors unless it's the eyes or nose or a small marking.
Below are a few other things they have, they don't have to be a marking or even show up on the preset at all, they're just features that all Mechanicats share.
They all possess computer screen anywhere on their side(Or both sides if you prefer), your Mechanicat's computer screen can be out in the open or concealed beneath a panel, but the screen doesn't have to be a marking or even show up on the preset at all, it's just a default for the species to possess a computer screen somewhere on their side(s).
Most of them possess LEDs on the bottom of their paws so they can put their paw in the air to signal other Mechanicats(And even other robot species), color and arrangement of LEDs varies, but it's okay if some other Mechanicat has the same paw LED pattern as your Mechanicat.
FUR:
~~~They don't shed their fur like organic cats, but they can lose fur in a fight.

~~~For some, fur can grow back when it's lost, for others the lost fur doesn't grow back.
~~~Their fur can be yarn, string, paracord, fiber optics, chains, crochet hooks, go wild!

SYSTEM-WIDE:
~~~A few Mechanicats possess a circuit breaker box to shut them down in the event of electrical shock, most Mechanicats just have sets of capacitors to absorb the shock and carry on(Until capacitors are full).
~~~They are able to be affected by an EMP(Electro-Magnetic Pulse).

~~~They can regain battery power by taking a nap.
~~They can control when they sleep, but it's trickier for them to sleep at all if their battery is below 4%, but sleeping is inevitable if the battery is at 1%.
~~They can't recharge if their battery is at 0%, causes of empty battery include severe injury and defective battery(Rarely other defective part), if their battery is at 0% then they're dead.
~~~If their main processor or harddrive is damaged then they're dead, the harddrive is most often found in the chest, but some manufacturers may mount their harddrive at the rear.

~~~They all emit a constant quiet electrical hum from their power supply unit(Or battery), the pitch of that hum varies from Mechanicat to Mechanicat unless two share the same make of battery, it can be silenced with pillows but that'd look a bit silly.
~~~Instead of being their only functions, the programming is the list of actions that the Mechanicats can't do and will avoid doing, it allows for an ever-growing range of activities for the mechanical being to do.

HARDWARE:
~~~Their CPU and GPU are guarded in the same waterproof box as the Main Processor.
~~~Their GPU is relied on by both their vision and the graphics of the computer screen that all Mechanicats have on their side.

~~~Their harddrive has a storage capacity of whatever you want it to be, but putting the capacity under 10 TB may be troublesome.
~~~They have two hearts, one is the coolant pump which has a beat that rises and drops with the mood of the Mechanicat, the other is a battery which doesn't have a beat but was just classified as a heart making two hearts.
~~The wires are the veins, arteries, and nerves at the same time, their cooling system serves as a secondary bloodstream.

~~~Their components can be either dust-proof(Resistant to dust build up), water-proof(Resistant to water), shock-proof(Resistant to hard impacts) or, and I'm going to make up a word here, current-proof(Resistant to electric shocks), but there can be only one resistance power.
SOUNDS:
~~~Their purr sounds like the buzz that a speaker sometimes makes.
~~Purring is only possible if they're relaxed, whereas organic domestic cats purr also when injured, Mechanicats don't purr due to injury.
~Whenever they sleep, they purr softly. That(And their constant electrical hum, although the already-quiet hum is quieter when they sleep) can give away their location as they sleep.

~~~They have trouble talking when their head is touching the head of another Mechanicat, as it often produces a sound like speaker feedback overlapping their voice.
EATING:
~~~They eat metal and rubber to refill their self-repair system. Unrefined metal(Rocks) works too, but refined metal is better for them.
~~They can consume organic food, but it is rare that they do.
~If they do consume organic food, their stomach turns it into a slop and extracts the nutrients which is then vomited back up, if they lack a separate compartment for organic food then their metal/rubber lunch will be gone as well, they are physically incapable of eating what they spit out.

~~~Their teeth are made of metal coated in a hard sandpaper-like material to grind metal down so that they don't swallow any sharp stones/metal. If they don't chew their food enough then they may end up swallowing sharp fragments of metal accidentally(Which can be fatal if not dealt with).
REGENERATION:
~~~Their self-repair device takes metal from their stomach and fills in damage by linking molecules together in a circular pattern layer by layer, starting with the outermost layer, it somehow manages a speed of 1 centimetre(0.3 inch) of completed external shell per minute.
~~Since I think 0.5 centimetre per minute is probably going to be a long time, the self-repair system is capable of regenerating a whole missing part of their body in three-four ingame days. Since the self-repair system is also utilised in engineering Mechanicat offspring, creation of it takes anywhere from 3-7 ingame days depending on how much the Mechanicat sleeps.
~~They can connect new parts to themselves in around two ingame days.

~~~They can't regenerate if their main processor is damaged(Or if the wire connecting to the self-repair system is broken/disconnected).
~~~If they don't eat, then they become unable to heal themselves until the next time they eat.

VOCALISATION:
~~~They all can make any housecat sound, and can also make a big cat roar.
~~~Cat noises are their first language, and they will ditch speech when suddenly conveying surprise.

How their sensors seem to normally function:
~~~To sense when they're touched, there's wires that run through their entire body and pelt, and through those wires flows the steady current of electricity supplying their mechanical parts. If there's any fluctuation in the electric current then the main processor will translate the fluctuations into signals to let the Mechanicat know when it's being touched/damaged. The more the electric current fluctuates, the harder the detected touch is. A large fluctuation is detected as pain, and a small fluctuation is detected as a poke or a pat. If the current stops completely in one or more wires, that also causes pain signals. Pressure plates have been found in some Mechanicats.
~~~Their eyes are cameras of varying specifications, and are susceptible to normal camera problems.

~~~Their ears are microphones of varying specifications, and are susceptible to normal micropphone problems(Though they are capable of blocking out the sound of wind).
~~~There are electrical thermometers dotting the inside of their legs and body, those thermometers detect the temperature of their surroundings. If the thermometers detect a temperature too high or low, the Mechanicat will feel a pain in the location of the freezing/burning thermometer, just like a human would.

~~~Their whiskers are exposed wires to feel their way around their environment, some Mechanicats can retract their whiskers at will to keep the exposed wires safe.
But why do they sense pain? Pain alerts creatures to what's damaging them, as well as damage they have sustained, so they don't bleed to death from a damage on their back they can't look at.
Request/Find Meshes / Futuristic meshes for a future map
« on: April 24, 2017, 05:06:00 pm »
Hello, I am in need of some futuristic buildings to add to my new map.
I am mostly in search of hollow buildings, A bridge, and I could use a futuristic wall material for making my own building.
I could also use futuristic furniture, but that's what I can do without.
Does anyone know of a computer mesh? I need technology meshes.
Does anyone know a white (But not plain white) material?
