Personally, I feel $100 is incredibly overpriced for a single adopt.
While I understand people spend a LOT of time and put a lot of thought into their adopts, if it's money they're looking for then extreme prices may not be the way to go. Most people look for adopts in order to create a character out of them, though there are some very famous artists on dA who are expecting that people will pay a lot in order to use the adopts as book or movie characters, I doubt they were one of them.
I'm sorry that "sallybean" and yourself went through a situation like this, but the best idea would be to simply walk away from the high prices and find cheaper adopts. They may not be the exact species your friend favors, but they're certainly more in an affordable price range.

Exactly my point.
The problem is that the person who sells the adopts want a plushie that costs 535$ and try to get money out of it but ScumsAlot is around 27 years old. She could easily work on it and not try to give out overpriced adopts. If you think that most of the people who use deviantart and watch that current person are around 15-18 years old, the 100$ will probably take around a month or maybe 3 months to take, if my knowledge is right. So of course parents wouldn't let them use this much of money especially when most adopts can be done with points.
I know it did, I was so triggered when this happened because they tried to use joy and fun as an excuse and when I asked them, since they are generous enough to buy a dog they could have given one adopt to one person for free as a gift
she could add a 'One spieces for free!' and do like a giveaway for christmas. Then my friend may could have been lucky, it is not that hard.
