Title: Eternal loading screen
Post by: Sadgeras on September 22, 2018, 07:20:51 pm
Hi! I joined FH waaaay back in the day, and I thought i'd rejoin! However, I cannot get past the loading screen before character creation. I uninstalled the older version, got the new one, reset my account, and logged in the browser page. Hopefully i'm just not impatient, but it's been loading for 10 minutes and it never took that long when I played.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you tried starting it in OpenGL mode instead of Direct3D9? Has it only just happened after you installed the new FH? If what I first asked doesn't work make sure ALL FH folders are deleted before you re-install again- it could possibly be other files mixing with others, make sure to reset your characters homes as well. Let me know what happens. <3

How is your internet speeds? Also, does it crash or just stay on the screen like that?

I uninstalled the 2014 version a long time ago, I think I left just before the browser page was introduced. I just installed the newest version today. I deleted the C:/FeralHeart folder before installing the new one. I also deleted all my characters.

I tried opening the game in GL , but now it's just this:

Also, my internet has been working fine. The game does not crash, which is why i'm worried I might just be impatient...

I'm not sure it should take that long to load -- how much time is it loading for exactly? Also, maybe check your particles folder for any double named particles such as two fire.particles etc? You can find it through Feralheart > Media > Particles. Delete the extra ones if there are any.

Very rarely, the same thing happens to me and I simply retry. My guess the reason it happens is packet loss from the server. The executable isn't really loading anything, but waiting on missed packets from the server, which does not resend them. If you're connected to your router wirelessly, you could try to connect via ethernet wire to at least eliminate one possible source of lost packets. Unfortunately, I haven't much else to suggest.

Yea, it's more than likely what Vili said, using wifi can sometimes cause issues connecting with the server(i had this problem once)- since nothing else we have added has worked it is more than likely on your side, sadly. I'd suggest trying later again today, you can also check your speed etc over at http://www.speedtest.net/ just to double check.

If I were you, I'd try another account if you have one laying around just to make sure it's not an actual problem with the certain account you're trying to use.

If you use another account and the same thing happens it's safe to say there's something when it comes to the communication to the server as you're already getting past the login screen.
