Title: Toggleable Swimming Animations?
Post by: FriskTheRisk on March 01, 2020, 11:58:10 pm
On the game activity survey that was made recently, it is noticeable how a few 'water themed' maps (Like Zama Grotto) are a bit ..inhabitated in comparison to other maps people would rather RP in like Cherika, etc. One idea would be to give us to toggle on/off swimming animations while in the water? This would be useful for 'sea life' roleplays (Mermaids/merlion/merwolves/etc) RPs, as well as maybe increase those maps' popularity at least a bit.

We already have catfish animations, which is swimming! But yea, we do need a swimming animation!

Honestly, it would be awesome if you could toggle the swimming animations. It would make it easier for the roleplays and also make things like the rings in Eastern Pass look more "realistic" or "cooler."

I suppose I didn't phrase that one well, rip XD I meant the exact opposite of having 'swimming-on-ground' animations

Say, you're IN the water in an area you can't get out of it, like Zama grotto. There could be a way to toggle off the swimming so your character could run/walk/etc on the bottom of the water. As Spicy said up there, it would open up a lot of roleplay possibilities XD And it's a better solution than making an ocean themed map with no water, lol.

Hmm, yeah, I got the point in the roleplay part as that was what I was trying to describe lol. How'd you imagine the rings to work like, though?

It would in all honesty depend on how much interest there is for waterlife RP more than anything. I remember when the 1.51 dropped and even then it wasn't the most populated map, there was at most 3 people I'd see in 2016-2017. I would certainly love better swimming animations for sure, rather than a slowed-down run cycle.

now i'm gettin' mental images of people toggling swim animations on land which is really cursed.
and having presets with invis wings. and flying. with the swimming animations.
oh no.
brain can of worms, put it baaaack.

i do get the point of what you're saying, though. definitely an interesting concept.

Oh my God XD That is really a cursed concept LOL (Though the 'FlySwimming' thing would possibly look good for Christmas reindeer characters?)

That's a good idea! I also kind of wonder if it would be possible to link a "toggle swim" ability with a body part, similar to how the "fly" ability is linked with wings. xD Maybe you can walk underwater if you have a special fin or a tail?

Dude, that would be a nice idea but like, I wanted to toggle the 'current' anims despite body parts for realism. Perhaps the parts could have different animations though?
