Title: cant run the patched exe

so i installed the game and tried to download the main link to the patched .exe, doesnt do anything. so i did the next option to download the pre-installed feralheart folder. i placed the new feralheart folder where it should go, C:/feralheart, replacing all file and merging all folders. now when i run the .exe that came from the google drive download, i get an error message that reads: "windows cannot access this specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. I went into properties and enabled full control over the file from all users. i ran in administrator mode. im using windows 7

Make sure to put the patch .exe in your Feralheart folder, and replace the old .exe! That's the only way it will work!

right. but does anyone know how to solve the error msg "windows cannot access this specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"?

The pre-installed is probably busted if it isn't working. Redownload FH and get the patch from here https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=68053.0

thank you for the quick responses! on chrome, the direct downloads open and close a blank window and do not begin to download. right now im installing different internet browsers to see if that fixes the issue. ill let you know if that helps shortly

ok so microsoft edge can download the file. but after i placed it in my feralheart directory, im getting the same error msg. good news is the google drive version is ok, maybe my computer is just special. anyways im going to give up thank for the help tho

hey back again just to archive my discoveries. so i googled my error msg and found that people are fixing this issue by right clicking the exe, going to properies\security and allowing all permissions. so i do just that. i make sure that i have allowed my user to read and execute the file. apply. now when i exit and go back to properties and look, the check marks are there solid for all permissions EXCEPT read and execute, they are grey-ed out for some reason. so my computer is the boss of itself and doesnt want to run the patched exe.

So you've deleted everything from FeralHeart then redownloaded FeralHeart from the Setup link here - https://feral-heart.com/download/ And then got the patch from Google Drive or Mediafire from here - https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=68053.0 Put the patch in the FeralHeart folder and replaced the .exe
And you're still getting the error message?

Are you running FH as an administrator?

i tried running as administrator and it made no difference. also toonanimals, yes i uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, replaced feralheart.exe with the patched feralheart.exe, and btw the exe that comes with the install runs fine until i try to connect to the server. can't figure out why my computer doesnt want to run the 720kb patched version though...

yooooooo, i just went to my FeralHeart directory folder, c:/FeralHeart, i renamed the folder to feralheart, so all i did was make the letters lowercase. i opened the exe and now it works. if anyone iss having this issue, make the feralheart folder all lowercase
