Title: Preset Problem. Please help!
Post by: Atanabi on September 18, 2016, 11:44:45 pm
Hey!

I'm a new member to this game, and really wanted to use some presets.

I followed the directions, yet when I export my presets they show up with a yellow/black model.
I checked the files, and everything is alright until I export them.

Sometimes, the preset disappears completely:
For example:

Preset1
Preset2
Preset4
Preset5

I'm unsure if this is a bug, or something of my own fault.

Thank you!

Are you making your own presets or downloading some pre made ones?

If you're the one making them, are you adding code for something like glow, scroll, or transparency?

Check y'er "My_Preset" files f'er each preset grouping to make sure everything is still there.

As f'er the yellow and black discoloration, it sounds to me like an issue with the preset's material file. Check it to make sure everything is labeled correctly. If y'er head texture is named "presetHead6.png" and the material file has it set as "preset_6head.jpg", ye'll need to rename the latter to the previously mentioned name, since that is what ye labeled the head texture. Be sure that y'er in the right preset folder when y'er looked by through the material file of the preset that y'er working on.

If you're able to, try to post your code and tell us what you named you preset files. Sounds to me like it's a coding issue. I just got finished with a complicated coded preset and an error in my code was usually the problem.

Thank you all for your help!

My presets are downloaded off of the internet.
I have checked the files, and it seems that everything is in shape.
Perhaps I can start a stream, and download some files off of the internet, and someone can watch and monitor me for problems?

Thanks again for all the positive responses though.

Make sure you are putting all of the files in the correct folders and exporting them in preset maker.

Could you provide links to the presets you are downloading? One of us will then check the files and see if we can get them working that way.

Hmm, I tested the one you linked and exported it, and it worked fine for me. Was this one one of the ones that was disappearing on you? Or was it another one of theirs?

If i log in with a different capital letter it can delete exported presets, is that one problem you're having?

None of her presets are working for me, but I'm using the

http://0abarai0.deviantart.com/art/FeralHeart-FREE-Canadian-Lynx-Preset-573307839
http://0abarai0.deviantart.com/art/FREE-Clouded-Leopard-preset-593187893

The process I use is;

Download File
Open FeralHeart under properties.
Open Preset file.
Open my_presets
Place the files into the corresponding file
{Preset_1=preset1 file}
Open FeralHeart

*Note, I had a stream and managed to get one to work. My issue is that these files always come with preset_1 material, which means I can't place them in other slots.

Thank you.

Actually, you can change the numbers in the material files to a different number and place them into different folders. Just open the material file in notepad, and go through and change all the 1's (Ex. material preset_1_bodyMatL) to something like material preset_2_bodyMatL or any number you choose. You have to go through it all to and change the numbers to match whatever file you put them in.

Do you remember what you did to get it to work, or did it just stop disappearing on you outta nowhere? (Computers, am I right? lol)

Do you know any .material file openers I can use? My computer doesn't support it.

But thanks for all your help too!

My material files can open up with Notepad. You running on Windows?
