Title: Minecraft!

Someone here has to play Minecraft (I SEE YOU THERE SLYCAN).

I just got it a few days ago. I haven't really done much, mostly just exploring and collecting materials.

Discuss Minecraft, and share screenshots of anything interesting you've built!

I know there's an old Minecraft thread somewhere but I can't be bothered to look for it/necro it asdfghjk

I have to admit, I have invedit, but I only use it on a world I use to just build stuff and make things look pretty, test new mob traps and ect.

O_o I once had a pet wolf duplicate itself somehow. I closed the game this one time, when I came back I had two wolves following me.

But I was able to download the mod TooManyItems. which is pretty awesome.

I'm using it to build stuff. like rollercoasters XD

My wolves always turned wild when I reopen my saved games...

There are some of my wolves, sitting inside (I was holding a porkchop, and turned and saw them like that, I had to screenie it XD)

I had up to 20 following me at some point, it got very annoying, so I just made them sit at the house and wait for me.

I have never seen any wolves. I read that you can see them on peaceful mode (which is what i usually use) but I've never seen them Oo

And I finally got modloader to work for me!

O_o Mine seem to spawn regardless of torches, I play on Normal or Peaceful. I generally get hoards of Sheep and Pigs around my torches XD

But yeah I generally leave my wolves sitting inside since they seem to like catapaulting themselves off hills or spontaneously dying in caves.

Ima' post my screenies soon once I get my house all done and decorated. I still have a storage basement, sheep farm and master bedroom to finish.

I've learned it is NOT a good idea to play music while playing Minecraft. I did not hear or see that kamikaze Creeper appear out of no where until it was too late.
Luckily I wasn't too close to my house and it only blew a hole in the mountain side. AND lucky I had armour on head to toe or it would have probably killed me too.

*is able to Minecraft again* It likes to make this laptop over heat though but eh at least I can play it for a bit XD

I was actually kidding, lol. Its a HUGE pain in the ass to make. But it can be a fun project. I certainly had some fun doing it, even though it was really difficult. Here is the first part of the tutorial video.

I definately suggest watching the videos before starting the project, it saves a lot of grief later on.

Post by: Kyugima on May 22, 2011, 08:59:47 am: No, the not responding one, where it says Java something or the other has stopped responding, restart or wait for it to start responding again XD. Some times it has this error a bit like the ogre exceptions here, where java can't find some file or the other and I have to close and reopen it to get it to work.

It gets on my nerves, and the amount of lag i have *sigh* But that's what happens when you play minecraft and lots of mods on a little laptop. But it still works fine most of the time, but on some occasions the lag gets so bad that I just have to close it.

I did try the force update like most of the people on the Minecraft forum recommended, but it didn't work (which then resulted in me toying with the graphic settings in the game).

The way ive found to get rid of the black screen crash is to just have your view distance below the max. So instead of "far" put it to normal. When I did that, it never crashed again. :)

I found a lava flow and Obsidian in the giant random huge cavern I found. AND yeeep I didn't have a diamond picaxe either.

I put some lava in a bucket though. Yay? XD

Found my first diamonds yesterday, only two though. But still, first diamonds dgadafasd.

If any enemy tries to come close they get hit with an arrow XD I've set my house up so I can watch the mobs attracted by the light and me get mowed down with arrows XD

And I have minecraft for free. I want the proper thing so I can play on servers, but it's good so far.

I just put the pressure plates directly in front of the dispensers, but I think you can use a line of redstone dust to make the disepnsers be triggered from further off.

Got piles upon piles of Redstone dust I don't know what to do with.

I'm tempted to make an incinerator type thing for all the dirt and unwanted cobblestone I collect. But I'm worried that I'll do exactly that; burn my house down XD. I just end up ditching it all outside.

My house is dug into a mountainside near where I spawned, I've got a room where I have a small crop of wheat or grass or whatsit and then another room which has a mineshaft in it and also connected to that is a shaft I dug to the top of the mountain. I built a small single room house up there.
On the mountain top I've grown more grass/wheat and some sugar cane. I hope to also grow some cacti there for lulz but I haven't come across any yet |D.

One of the next big things I hope to do is somehow herd some sheep and dye them all so I have a herd of sheep all different colours XD

I even have puppies now XD Except there is this one that I tried to age into and adult. It's adult now, but even smaller than when a puppy...

But mine is a copy of someone elses minecraft, copy and pasted onto a usb stick, and i think they paid for theirs. I think I';m going to move my minecraft to the big computer though, things are too laggy on my little laptop.

I'm going through torches like no tomorrow, and I need to work out a system so I stop getting lost |D I was thinking of using the Redstone torches and marking my path, then picking them back up on the way out.

Meh I don't do anything if my wolves die....generally because they usually dissappear somewhere and I hear them get hurt and then eventually die but I've no idea where they've gone |D.

The only time I take wolves out with me is if I need to get bits of ham or feathers. Other then that they just stay inside. Because yeah, they usually either randomly push me around, go and jump off cliffs and get hurt or dissappear and end up killing themselves in some way.
I do like the wolf concept in Minecraft but eh, they seem to be more of a hindrance D:

Turns out I kept forgetting to delete the META INF file, thinking it was gone because I had deleted it before, but when I hit force update it put the meta inf file back...

You get there by building a portal using Obsidian blocks and then lighting the middle of it on fire. I've never been there though, due to lack of Diamond pick. But I have one now that I made with the little bit of Diamond I found.

It's also not nice when you run out of arrows while trying not to be blown up by Creepers.
I use a Bow mostly, but I've still got a Sword on hand.

I missed a whole pile of diamonds though...this cluster of about...6 or 8 is literally one block away from where I stopped digging at one point.

First time round was utter failure, my portal sent me falling through mid air over a giant lava lake which lead to an unpleasant, slow, firey death. On top of that I had most of my tools and such with me + full suit of iron armour. SO they all got burned to a crisp.

After I restocked/built up my inventory, I dismantled the portal and moved it elsewhere.

Second time round was slightly better...slightly.

Off to the side a bit of a distance away was luckily another floating island that was much, much bigger. So I built a bridge and went exploring.

I chickened out though and set the difficulty to peaceful |D.

I'm not looking forward to collecting feathers again for arrows ergh.

Its called Branch Mining. This is a really good tutorial for it. :)

It's a good little mod, very fun, but the baby animal noises can get am little annoying if you have too many hanging around (especially baby pigs...)

I finally hit bedrock with one of my mineshafts and is now making an underground base.
While digging out one of the rooms I hit a giant random wall/pool of lava 8| after a huge headache of trying to deal with it, I managed to put some glass in and made a small "window/light" of lava. If I'm feeling up to it I'll make the whole wall a lava window to save on torches.

I really need to find a dungeon so I can make a decent mob trap out of it.

Luckily no serious damage was caused xD

I also FINALLY found diamonds, but only TWO, but luckily I had one stashed in a chest. So I was finally able to get some obsidian. It was really annoying though, because there was lava UNDER the obsidian, uggggh.

Now I am working on a tunnel that connects my little house which I've named 'The Cabin', to a mountain, and there's gonna be a ladder which you climb up in the middle of the mountain to a bigger house at the top and a watch tower.

amg I can't believe this. I tamed a wolf (finally) and it was perfectly fine, I left it sitting in my house. I passed the house a few times and it was still there. Then when I got back it wasn't there. :C Are you meant to feed them regularly or something? Or was it a glitch?

I had a few other glitches too during that playing session. A creeper was coming towards me and then it fell into the water and exploded. But there was no animation, only the sound effect. It didn't leave a hole in the ground either.

Then I was going towards a spider on the other side of a lake, but when I got there it wasn't there any more :C

When something explodes in water, it doesn't do any damage.

I thinking Notch should add more options for wolves. Like naming them, clothes, more colors, like extended wolves mod.

And hopefully, Pistons in 1.7 update and it would be great if he finally added some more cooler things, like 1.4 Wolves. Cause I've been bored with 1.6 Update.

Yeah there is, it looks like a mini brown tumbleweed thing. I went exploring and discovered my terrain changes into a desert if I cross the sea XD. Lags like crazy though, dunno why.

Mining for Obsidian is the worst >8| it's always near/on lava and take ages to mine. I wish it had more uses then just being used for a Portal to the Nether.
I got 20 blocks of it when making my Lava wall just by me using water when it'd spill everywhere.
Aaand I think I picked the worst spot for my branch mine, I hit more lava.

I think wolves are buggy, since I always leave mine sitting, if I go kill a zombie sometimes my wolves will pop up and I'll be like "..wait what?"

I looked and apparantly it's only a rare bug that might happen to you once or twice, but no matter what I do, and no matter how many times I try, they have NEVER stayed tame..

I actually want to make a bigger one elsewhere as an excuse to build a minecart track XD. But I'm not sure since I wouldn't know what to do with all the plants I'll grow...I guess leave them to look pretty?

It is, there are two that appear just a little distance away from my front door on the top of the mountain and then a group of two or three that appear near where I was standing to take the picture of my crops.
|D so yeaaaaaah I've spent many times in my house up there going "D8 Go awaaaaaaaay" when they come right up to my door.
Oddly I don't have too many problems at the base of the mountain...probably because of all the torches.

Yesterday I almost started two forest fires |D. One thinking "I wonder what happens when you set a tree on fire" So I chose one near the shore, presuming it was far enough away from the other trees....it wasn't. So after a frantic running around with water buckets it was out. Killed about 5 trees in the process.
And the other was while I was making beacons with cobblestone and netherrack. Once again thinking the fire was far enough away from the tree. Oddly, that fire put itself out.

What are some good Mods to download?
So far I want Mo' Creatures and Single Player Commands.
I hope that Minecraft slows with the Updates so the Mods get a chance to catch up XD

I was trying to build a map of a village, and I could no longer get inside because I placed a bedrock in the bedrock door way...

Whenever I set anything on fire it immediately burns everything else down. I remember trying to place some lava and it set all the trees around my house on fire. I was running around in a total panic, it was hilarious. Good times, good times..

I dunno about too many items mod, I'd just get boring for me to have everything. To each his own I guess though :)

I loved mo' creatures, but I'd have more fun with it if I wasnt such a chicken xD
There was this really cool sounding mod I saw that makes tower dungeons. That one sounded like something to get.

And Sly posted a bunch of really cool wolf mods as well.

XDDD The Ogres and the Werewolves make me hesitant, I wish you could switch on and off what critters you want to appear.

Just feed a baby lamb wheat or seeds, can't remember which, and it becomes tame, then feed it a cake and it becomes a tame adult sheep, and never despawns. Sure, eggs and wheat and milk and sugar can be hard to come across, but it's worth it in the end. Especially when you see the basby animals XD

I don't think you can get mods with a non registered version of Minecraft. I think you cant because they update with each update of Minecraft, so if you don't have the newest update the software isn't compatible.

All the monsters are unique and do different amounts of damage and also attack differently. They are also fucking scary. You'd be surprised how scary an unrealistic monster can be D:

You also get passive mobs though, cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, and wolves.

I got Baby Animals running, I spent yesterday herding chicks XD. I'm also expanding the land on top of the mountain, flattening it so I can make a bunch of little corral/pen things.

Nope, according to the Minecraft wiki those embers the lava shoots out are harmless.

It's always strange to me how Minecraft with it's lack of graphics can produce some really nice screenies XD

And Claaaay ugh, I think I've actually found all the clay I can find in my world O_o

And ghosting, I may be 19 and have the funds to pay for minecraft, but I have the inability to. My mum is overly paranoid, knows that paypal ate her money so she won't use it. I am doing all I can to get a minecraft membership, through this one way that is really slow, you have to do all these surveys and junk and you soon earn enough points to buy a minecraft giftcard. Have to be wary though, I use a side email that I never use in case of bad things XD

And I'll PM you the details DA, the aboved mentioned method isn't it, but it's good in the long run, you get minecraft properly

Download GUI Api and ModLoader plus AudioMod

You need to install the four files either manually or by using TFC's ModManager: run the TFC's Mod Manager and drag and drop the .zip files into the TFC ModManager, click on the 'finish modding button' and you're done

How to install the mod manually:

please install Modloader, AudioMod and GUI Api FIRST!!!! and then:
1. Make a backup of your minecraft.jar file
2. locate your .minecraft folder
3. copy the MoCreatures.zip file inside your \.minecraft folder
4. unzip the MoCreatures file inside that folder
5. Play

It's a bit different when you install the things like AudioMod and the others mentioned there. You have to open the Minecraft.jar file with something like WinZip and then copy paste stuff into it.

Windows:
1) Open up %appdata%, if you don't know how to do this, start>run, then type in %appdata%

5) Delete the META-INF folder in the jar.
6) Run Minecraft, enjoy!

Maybe try and see if it's in the same location?

The Application Data folder is hidden though so you'd have to go through uh...it's in options somewhere to make them visible.

Yesterday a Mo Creatures wolf massacred my Chicken coop from OUTSIDE the fence, and then proceeded to kill one of my pigs in another pen. I ended up killing the wolf because giving it porkchops didn't seem to quell it's bloodlust.

I got bitten by Pirahnas while trying to tame Dolphins |D

Then bitten/hurt by a Dolphin.

Accidentally hooked a Dolphin while fishing.

Punched a Shark.

And finally killed a Bear that was for some reason floating in the Ocean near my Dolphin pen 8|

EDIT:

SO yesterday while making a pen for future tamed Dolphins, something decided to massacre my farm, I lost everything aside from a single, yellow sheep ~~which I keep calling Sollux~~. I decided to make the fences taller (while doing so a Leopard, Tiger and a Tiger cub appeared >_> I was wondering if they were the culprits).
I don't think I'll remake my rainbow sheep again though. As when you shear them, when their wool grows back it's white again.
I'm keeping the lone survivor sheep in the pen though, it's now going to house some horses.

Today I luckily wandered into this:

And there's also ingame toggles/settings where you can turn certain mobs off or change it so they only appear in a certain difficulty.

I tried to breed one of those black pegasus, got a pack horse, now my pegasus doesn't want to breed again. So it's back to looking around for Horses, I wish there was a something or other you could use to make them follow you. Unless there is XD
I did manage to see a Unicorn, but I don't know what happened to it, I literally was flying around, landed in the spot where it was and it'd dissappeared O_o.

Yeah...that's one thing I've noticed about Mo Creatures, the animals it spawns despawn really fast O_o. Especially the little birds, it's like...blink and you miss them O:

This amuses me to no end XDDD. You can tame the little birds and then put them on your head |D. They also slow your descent if you jump off a high ledge.

Yeah, when the new versions come out you have to wait for the mods to update then re-download them. Which is why its a good idea to check an update before you decide to get it. Just to see if its worth going a while without your mods and stuff. Its also a good idea to save your worlds and the client folder if you do update.

I've also started making a treehouse, which is pretty much trees and glass. It's not going to be a huge thing, just some kind of mini base that's located near the Snow biome I found.

Also, tree houses are awesome! I made one on this multiplayer server im playing on. Its basically just one huge tree that I carved out and made a house out of. By carved out I mean the leaves on the top. Some glass here and there too :3

Mine's like that too XD, I grew my treehouse, carved out a hollow in the leaves, added windows and it's a nice effective mini base.

I have a Creeper infestation eeeeeeeeeeergh, I got snuck up upon and blown up three times infront of my house WHILE killing a Creeper. It blew away the front of my house. It was easily rebuilt though.
So then a little while later I hear a wolf howling and want to find out where it is, and it's on top of the glass block above my door in the process I also see this (my door is just off to the right):

O: what's the giant glass structure?

And yeah the shark XDDD, I've seen dolphins randomly spawn inland too, in the little random water pools that scatter my area. But that shark takes the cake.

And yes! The house is really high up, the top leaves must only be 4 blocks from the cieling or so. I wanted to make it on a mountain :3 The giant glass thing is a giant glass house. The maker even has a sign that says "Glass house, do not throw stones"

How long did the shark last? I hope it didnt de-spawn too quickly :D

Not too long, it ended up dying because it'd try to move around and get stuck on the crops, they get hurt if stuck on land. So it was kind of a sad, unmagestic death XD

I've also got Single Player Commands. I gave in and downloaded that, don't really use it much though. I see it as it's not as fun cheating a pile of diamonds or tools. It does make placing lava a whole lot easier XD

D: my tamed shark randomly dissappeared from it's pen.

Aaand using the "Atlantis Mode" for Single Player commands is a bad idea. It killed most of my wolves and made Sollux/Yellow survivor sheep dissappear D:. I lost most of my cattle too. Luckily/oddly my chickens and horses were ok.

When I tested it, all my wolves suddenly flew at me and started drowning O_o so I immediately turned it off. And I started floating too. But yeah I never tested it long enough to fully see what it did.

First when I tried, I got a black screen. So I removed the old Mod files. That got rid of the instant black screen. SO I try again, I open the game, load my save and then the game instantly closes and gives me a "Saving chunks" and goes black. I get rid of Baby Animals completely, since it wasn't updated for the latest version of Minecraft. I load my save again, it works for a few seconds but then automatically closes with that "Saving Chunks" thing.
I don't know what's going on, so I deleted the whole minecraft folder and pasted in my backup I did so I can play.

Also, make sure you didnt put the readme.txt from baby animals into the minecraft.jar. That can cause lots of black-screening.

Oh yeah and I dont know when you got mo' creatures and baby animals but they didnt update to 1.7.3 till recently, so make sure you have the 1.7.3 compatible versions.

I got them a few days ago, people were saying the the thread that they were working with 1.7.3 or whatsit. I guess they were wrong O_o

I'll try downloading them again and then try modding the game again.

I also downloaded a new mod that's rather Jurassic Park like. It's still a mod in it's "baby" stages, but it looks pretty good so far. The mod adds in a new Fossil block that gives you fossils and ancient tablet things, which you then Analyse and put into a "cultivator". Fossils and other stuff will be produced :B

Adult Triceratops that are massive |D. They also come in a few other colours. But I'm not sure what they are. Yellow is one I think. Equius is also wearing a helmet that comes with the mod. There's also a sword. It sets mobs on fire and turns pigs into Pigmen.

Baby T Rex. These guys are shy when they're "little" but when they grow up they are incredibly hostile. It also states that they are able to break blocks weaker than iron D8

It actually updates almost every day O_o ironing out little bugs and tweaking the mod. There's the odd huge update every now and then. Like the T Rex being added in was a day or so ago or something.
But I generally only update it if it's a big update |D

I've decided any more dinosaurs are going out where I have my Treehouse. My T Rex is located there XD. I made the pen out of Obsidian blocks and Iron (with the help of Single Player Commands >_> )...D: but that sounds discouraging if it was able to Ninja out of Bedrock O_o.
Unless it's a bug they have yet to iron out :O

I've been drawing all my life XD;

It should, if there's drawing classes and stuff.

O_o you know what's odd. The same thing happened to me earlier. I checked on my T Rex, it was there. Then I went off to do other things and when I came back it'd gone.
No walls had been broken either.

It would be hilarious if they jumped over the walls, but considering I built them like 10 blocks high I seriously doubt it XD

I'm not sure what I'm going to build now, since raising T Rexes was a disaster. I've put 6 Raptors in the old T Rex pen instead.
O_o my "new" lot of T Rexes (I had two) didn't dissappear, but randomly spontaneously combusted into 64 Leather. I have no idea what made them do that since absolutely nothing could get into that pen. And it was well lit so nothing could spawn in it. And of course the moment I move away it happens.
...Unless T Rexes are hostile to one another.

And I've never heard of this 'Slyfoxhound' either.
I watch Yogscast too XD.

Post by: GhostingHowl on July 27, 2011, 12:32:21 am: Demonic, you dont need a licensed copy to get mods. Just follow the instructions on the mods page. The best mod to start with would be mo' creatures. They have an instruction VIDEO on their page, just watch it and do what it says EXACTLY.

Kyugima I'd look in your .jar and make sure you didnt put a readme.txt file in with the other files of the mod. I did that once and it always crashed because of it. That was a different mod, however Im sure it would still cause the same problems.

Yes, you do. You have to download those as well, they don't come with the game.

Backing up your minecraft jar is basically copy and pasting the files before you mod just in case something goes wrong, so you can go back to how it was in the first place. And did you put the folders in the right place? Not all Mo creatures files go in teh jar I beleive. In fact, i think none do...

I have it stuck in my head because of the Dinosaur mod. Although now I just spawn pigs by the 20s and watch the raptors go nuts |D

And yeah, the Nether is kinda dull, you can't do much there aside from be mauled by Ghasts, get Netherrack and Glowstone.

Gah they updated the Archeology mod and must have done something with the items coding and such because they're all jumbled up now, my ancient swords had turned into Eggs O_o and when I tried to open my chest with all that mods stuff in it, the game crashed, then wouldnt stop crashing.
I rescued it with a backed up save though.
The new Scarab stuff is pretty fancy :B

Post by: GhostingHowl on July 29, 2011, 09:20:28 pm: Update time: Woke up this morning and re-set up the server. We are now playing on a Bukkit server. I havent added any other mods yet, but the game now spawns monsters. There wasn't really a "easy med hard" setting as I thought, though. Its just spawn monsters=true.
I also added an auto-save plugin. The world will save every 30 minutes.

Like I said yesterday, im going out of town for a week, so I wont be around to mess with the server. However it should be available for everyone till I get back. As long as I don't get a power outage or the internet doesn't go down, the server should be fine while I am gone.

Once I get back in a week I'll see about adding more mods. See you guys around :)

I think I ALWAYS just miss you then, I generally get on an hour or a bit after XD. I live in SA. I tend to pop in during the evenings and afterwards.

With the traintracks, I figured out why it was being invaded by pigs and chickens, if there's a ledge that's a block away and/or higher than the fence, things can jump over onto the track.
I did another once over around it and made a few of the fences higher. Hopefully nothing will come onto it anymore.

8o that's never happened to me before, even when I've had multiple portals in the normal world D:

If you've got Single Player Commands, you can teleport back to your spawn point.

I even tried to think of a name for teh server, Feralia Aquius. It stuck in my head for some reason. No clue if it means anything in any language out there, just kinda picked what sounded cool XD

I think there should be some kind of "finders keepers" rule in regards to mining Ores. But I think this is going to be hard to enforce though. I guess it should be more like "you snooze you lose" ie if you don't mine it, it's up for grabs.

I also think we're going to need a list of who's who because some of us don't have names that match up to the forum here.

And probably a "need help to blabla" section, if people want help clearing land or trees etc even if they aren't online.

If someone wants to join the server they can post on the server thread and everyone can agree or disagree to let them on with a vote (that's so if someone knows someone is a griefer we can stop them from joining). Then someone can send the IP to them via PM. And that way we can ban anyone that isn't on the list yet we spot on the server so people can't send it to their friends or something without their friend posting here.

Hmmm, I guess we could round up our itty bitty group and put the names somewhere XD. I don't think we've got any people we want banned yet.

Also if we get a players list up (not the whitelist/blacklist) I won't feels as derpy trying to remember who everyone is |D. I suck at remembering names x_X
