What to do in Feral Heart?
« on: May 01, 2021, 10:02:43 pm »
First day playing Feral Heart, I ran around everywhere finding some idling people I thought were AFK. I hear designing presets is something people do, but that sounds like a ton of work and I'd rather do that after getting into the game and/or community itself (preferably try to get along with some in-game people rather than ONLY fellow forum-goers). I'm not super 'into' roleplay but nobody ever invites me to roleplay nor does anybody ever appear to be roleplaying (which common sense would tell me could be solved through the forums but I wish to emphasize that I'd prefer to find what I can in-game and without the forum [except for through this question thread ironically enough]). Nobody ever invites me to packs, so I couldn't find out if packs are a boring gimmick or not. If I play Feral Heart during peak hours, what's the likelihood I can talk to people in-game without them being annoyed by the fact I interrupted their idling? My only experience with the game is that I hopped around madly near some people that looked AFK, found out they were actually just idling for background noise, then somebody NOT idling called me a noob and passively told me to shut up, in which I proceeded to talk to them for 5 minutes at best (with their consent) then they decided to go do other stuff and stop talking.

Hey, there! First of all, welcome to FH, so happy to see you here ^^

So, FH is mainly based on social groups, RP groups, and community-made content (presets, maps, meshes, mods, etc.) This can be really fun, but I understand you want to get into the community more first.

Many groups tend to be spread out across the maps (if they are mapless), or in their own maps (if they are mapped) so sometimes you have to try a couple of times to find them recruiting in the grounds. Generally, it works that RPs post an ad (usually a movie) and you would reach out to them if you are interested! It's seen as common courtesy to refrain from messaging people to join and instead extend an invite through an ad ^^ and most groups will respond pretty quickly. If you are looking for a couple of groups that are on FH you can look here:
https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?board=118.0

If you like canines I recommend:
Silver Seas (a pirate RP that is open literacy and sometimes rps in the default maps): https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=69311.0

Pantheons (a literate, four-pack, mythology-based wolf pack that has its own map): https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=68760.0

And If you want a more social group, Renegade Row(multi-species, open literacy, semi-realistic): https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=68964.0

If you like felines I recommend:
Pride of Mayhem (Literate, mapless, lions): https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=69385.0

Beyond the Veil (Nordic, literate, newer, Barbary lions): https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=69376.0

Again, Renegade Row is multi-species so you could put them down here too.

Addressing the passive-aggressive person that you spoke to-- I'm not sure what the whole story is but most people don't mind talking-- probably just a rare encounter. Generally, talking in local is met with people who will happily chat with you about whatever, and some people will offer to show you around or talk about FH.

If you find yourself in a situation where someone is being excessively rude to you, take screenshots and report them to a member of staff. Bullying is never okay.

If you would like to check out member made content:

Various tutorials: https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?board=190.0

I wish you luck in FH! Happy RP hunting ^^

Hello! Welcome to FeralHeart. c:

Blood went over a lot of it, but try to have fun and there is always something to do or something to find you just have to look in the right places and times. There are also planned updates for the game they just don't have a release date as of yet. For now, have fun!

Welcome to FeralHeart

Feralheart may be short of people, but with such a small amount of people, you can easily call family. I met my friends/family and feel so loved by them. Dont worry, though, the first few days are rocky, but everyone is friendly and surely makes you feel at home. c;I recommend looking for roleplay as that something FH is known for! Try crafting new things and sharing with everyone else, or making maps. Otherwise, there's a lot you can do. Best of luck

Welcome to the game!

I'm going to move this over to the discussion board as it fits a bit better over there! The idling in the game has sadly only gotten worse - a lot of people open the game and then open something else to do while they just sit on their characters in the game. As Blood said, there are a few active roleplays and as you get accustomed to the game you can even make your own! The possibilities are endless with this game. :)

If you happen to run into a situation with someone passive-aggressive like that again, you can always block them and shoot a screenshot over to anyone over on the staff team - as Blood said. Hopefully though that doesn't happen to you again.

Enjoy the game!

You could come up with stories based on your adventures on the various maps in-game. And as far as rude or unkind people, just ignore them and find someone nice to talk to or explore maps solo.

I think majority of players presently just play for the nostalgia and comfort that sitting in game gives them. Quite a few groups still around, just gotta keep a close eye out. The Kreptic Circle is a group that's been around for over a decade on FH now, we're mostly just a social group at this point in time, but are happy to take in newbies.

Other than that, there's plenty to explore if you're a new player. There's even some easter eggs laying around in certain maps if you're keen to hunt for them.
