Has this ever happened to you? Has anyone ever come up to your in the game and demand that you change the name of your character all because the name you gave your character is that person's real life name? Or has someone come up to you and demand you change your characters name because it's the same as their character's name? This has happened to me more than once.
Story 1
One time, I was sitting out in Bonfire Island as my unicorn character named Athena. All of the sudden some random wolf comes around and tells me, "Athena is my irl name! Change it immidiatley!" I told her that I wasn't going to change my character's name and that I could name my characters whatever I wanted. When she kept harrassing me about it, I pretty much told her to.... nope not going to say it XD. I was about to block her, but she eventually walked off and left me alone.
Story 2
There was this one time I was up on the cliff at Cape of Distant Worlds. I was chatting with some random people when all of the sudden this neon red feline came up and said to the little canine next to me "Hey! Wendy is my name irl." So we were like, "Um... okay. That's nice." So she starts asking the person to change their character's name. Then a few of her friends come along and start heckling the person to change their name. Of course, the person told them that they weren't going to do it, so the situation gets into a fight. The neon red feline starts saying that she is crying irl all because someone took her name. I tell her, "Look, Wendy is a very common name in the world. You're not the only one with that name. There are millions of other girls in the world with that name." But then she continues, "But it's my name DX" Alot of the people around us start getting fed up over her whinning, so they start to block her and her friends. After a few minutes of hearing her complain, I block them too.
Story 3
I was once sitting out in Bonfire Island and listening to other people roleplay. All of the sudden, these two players start bickering at each other because their characters have the same name. (I can't remember what the name was, so I'll substitute with this "Dan") One of them was "Dan M" and the other was just "Dan". So they start caps spamming back and forth. "I HAD THIS NAME FIRST!!1!" "NO U DIDN'T!! I DID!!" "CHANGE IT NAOOOWW!!!!" So this fight goes on for several minutes, and some of the people around them start complaining about their bickering. Some people started blocking them, while other threaten to report them if they don't stop. But THEN... here's where the story gets really funny. Someone actually makes a bright neon orange feline character with the name, "BOTH DANS SHUT UP" and confronts them both. The neon orange feline starts cap spamming at them telling them if they don't shut up and stop fighting, he was going to report them. By this time, I was on the floor laughing my head off XD.
That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. :D
I got a bunch of other similar stories to share, but I would have to write you a novel just to tell them all. Has something like this ever happened to you? Ever?

Thankfully, this has never happened to me before.
But this sounds absolutely horrible! Just because a player named their character your name in real life doesn't give you the right to make them change it, or whine about it.
I hope I never run into anyone that does this, it's just..pathetic.

I have never had someone do that to me but i did have something like this happen to me when someone said i copied her characters markings(i wrote a topic about this)so i would just block someone like this instantly.

Oh, Nameclaimers. Yeah.
I was one my Goddess Freya on Bonfire, and suddenly a creamy lioness with white eyes popped up in my face and said "U stole ma name!1!" I didn't got it untill someone pointed at her username. It had the name 'freya' in it. So I just keept talking to her, saying that I'd never steal somebodys name. Then she left.

This has never happened to me, but I've seen it happen to many people. Sometimes I just say it as a joke. Especially to a person with the char name Ash. As I like the name 'Ash.' But I'm never mean to them. I always start off with. 'OMG you stole my name! Joke Joke, but I love the name. :3' Like so, because well, I LIKE THE NAME!! So, yeah, that's what I do, never have I formally accused anyone of name stealing, because it's childish, I just, you know, play around and well, apologise, or compliment afterwards :3

FHjshfjs yes. I have a few well-roleplayed characters with common names (for example, Cobra, Heron, Shay, Haru, Murk, Owl and such) and it's inevitable that someone will share the same name. I've had accusations thrown at me, but I typically just block instead of perusing an argument; it looks like I've logged out to the perpetrator-- which is likely just what they want!
However, the strangest I've had was someone who approached me in Flourite with an identical, obscure name and demanded I change it! Coincidences do happen, but-... Two wolves named Mellendryos is a little too eerie; it's bordering more on name-thiefdom than anything. :D

It was quite funny a few days ago when I was in Bonfire I was just laying around and this random user runs up to me shouting, "MORBID YOU NOT THE REAL LORD SURAGAHA! IM REPORTING YOU!!!!" -face paw- lol I guess the user thought I was stealing my own character since my username is not Lord Suragaha. Even though it was a strange experience and a mistake I'm at least grateful that there are users who look out for other users that their characters aren't being stolen, that is as long as they are not claiming that they are the character themselves though lol.

This never has happened to me, since I often choose to create new names for my characters (Combining letters, mashing names, mixing nice sounds, or all three). It's very unlikely for people to have the same name as my characters, unless somebody saw me and thought 'Omg thats a pretty name i shuld use it'.
Though it sounds extremely rude, especially when it's very common names, such as 'Jade' or 'John'. I remember seeing two characters with the name 'lily f' fighting eachother. 'HEY THATS MUH REAL NAME' 'NUH U LIAR ITS MINE' and so on and so forth. Also, commonly used words such as 'Dark', 'Moon', 'Shadow' are definitely not names to be worth fighting over.

I love it when people think they own a name XD especially the ridiculously common ones like "Shadow", "Fang", "Swiftkill" or any of those. That's why I always make sure my characters have uncommon and original names, usually with some significance to who they are.
For example, I made a Polish trakehner stallion and actually went to find a genuine Polish name for him. Now, how many characters have you seen called Jedrek? None, exactly.
If everyone took a few extra minutes to think about this kind of thing, the incidents of "name-stealing" claims would go riiight down.

I have witness this several times most everywhere I go. Usually when I'm in my RP characters I notice several common names and fits starting out cause of the similarities.
There was this one time where I was in AI, and I was on Feareh(jaguar) so just talking to friends I see a user log out, and come back looking like me with the same name....... And saying in not the real Feareh.
Feareh(FAKE): I'm Feareh...who are you?
Me: um....I'm Feareh
Feareh(FAKE): I'm going to report you if you don't change your name...you look like me.
Me: Dude, I'm Feareh...my username is Youshallfearme2.
Feareh(FAKE): CHANGE YOUR NAME NOW!!!
Me: -goes back to talking with friends and ignores-
Long story short, I just reported him and that was it, but its really sad

Oh yeah Feareh I've had that happen to me a couple times to. I don't mind when close friends fool around and turn themselves into Lord Suragahas but when a complete stranger does it without my permission and then shouts at me that I stole their characters and that they'll report me that's just annoying. In Flourite a few days ago this random person caught up with me as I was doing my lap around the map and decided to clone herself as "Lord Suragaha" with the same exact look as me but pup sized. I looked at her username and it was no one that I recognized so I just ignored her and walked around. She continued to follow me in silence... Wherever I went -_-... I felt like I literally had a pup and to make it worse she soon started saying "Can you be my daddy?"
............ -takes a deep breath in real life- Seriously?!
Still trying to be patient I refused the offer so she decided to caps spam," I'll report you and ban you for stealing my character...blah bla-" le block :) ahhh peace and quiet.

This never happened to me before. I think it is stupid. The only time I would get mad is if I found someone that had my chars name and looks JUST like my char.

Oh God......Name claimers....Don't ya just wanna slap 'em? Anyway , Here's the story , I Was with my friend , joining her Warriors RP. Her cats name was 'Crescentstar' So I Ask ''Hey! Great name may I Use it?'' She replies ''Yeah Sure.'' Then I See someone say 'Hmnmnmnm , Brb' in chat and they log-off. So I'mma still talking to my friend I Say ''Oh I Won't use the 'star' part Btw.'' Shes like 'Kay'. Five Mins later , Someone shows up. Same username as the 'hmnm' person but with the name 'Crescentstar' With the same design. they come over saying ''HEY! YOU TOOK MY NAME! CHANGE IT OR ELSE!'' So my friend says ''Why should I? What you gonna do?'' They said ''I'll report you!'' so I Say some things...Not that I Will go into detail , We ended up blocking her.

:)) If we all were to get mad for this,then I must tell you,there are like 100000000 Annas,Lilys etc. in this game.And when to think they're fighting on names that are really common in FH.

I've never had that happen to me,but If it does I will just ask them to be honest and tell how long they had that character,then the person with the newest changes it.But fights for the commonest names (Lily,Nina,Dakota,Flame,Scar etc.) are just not worth it.But if it's like a name that YOU created yourself,you should kindly ask the person to leave and that you created the name.If they don't I would block them or report them for harassing.

Thankfully I have never encountered a name-claimer, and I hope I never will. It is rather ridiculous, and the general notion baffles me. I bet any money that these people go through the phone-book and go ballistic at every person who has their name. I had fun reading these stories, though.~?

Nyeh. Lol, one time, I was chilling in SP as my character Mello. (Mello is also my rl name.) And this guy came up to me, with the same name..

Wow... these stories are funny. It makes me wonder what a mod thinks IF they get these kind of reports. I wonder if they laugh just as hard as we do, or get really annoyed?

Mhmm, this has happened to me. Well, my friend rather. She had wolf character named, "Sahara." Well, that's the name of a desert so I say it is probably pretty common. Well, we were at Cape and talking in local then suddenly, this highlighter feline with the name Sahara F or just Sahara, I can't remember, comes up and starts yelling. "SAHARA IS MY NAME!!!" And we both just told her it wasn't her name; it could be anyone's name, not just hers. But she continued. "No! Change your name to something else! Sahara is my name and I've had it forever! It's the only name I use!!!" And my friend and I basically just ignored her from that point on. Honestly. She did not come up with that name!
And to be honest, can any of us really claim a name? We don't own the alphabet. We can't claim it or letters we use from it. I understand if you have the name of a group that is entirely made up by you, or a character name you made up, and someone has the same exact spelling for it, that it could be considered name stealing. But in the end, like I said, no one owns the alphabet.

I have had a similar issue, but not with names. I made a character with white underfur, gray pelt, black hellion markings (note: back when I didn't have Mass Markings), and a black mane. I walk into bonfire and this random person comes up to me with her friends and yells at me for having an almost identical character. Her friends threaten to report me for "Copy-catting" and I get upset saying it is just a coincidence.

You can't exactly resolve and issue like this with mere words. People are either creative or not. Whether it be names or markings. I try my best to look different mostly but I know of many people who have been approached because of this. It's almost amusing to watch as the argument reaches a climax.

It luckily never happened to me but seriously, being mad because somebody has same name? I'd find it interesting and probably become friends with that person but most people today on Feral Heart act immature and are very impatient, especially on Fluorite and Bonfire, where tons of crazy sparkle dogs and drama Warrior lions like to hang out. I'm just suprised how people react for such a tiny thing. In real life, many people will share your name, so what, are you going to yell at them all? Of course you aren't! Only thing we can do is say something smart to them and hope they'll realize they are acting like little spoiled brats because even if somebody copies every little detail of you, guess what? You have your original username. Now my friend, go play Feral Heart on some silent map and forget about those people. ^.^

I agree with you, but your post turned out just a tad rude. And again I will say it's an issue which can't be resolved. Yes a lot of people share the same name. Fair enough. But what of a name you've made up.. something like perhaps.... 'Croskono' or something? You /know/ it's original but somehow, someone seems to be walking around with the same name. And then they verbally attack /you/. Are you gonna settle for that?

If you see someone walking around and magically guess his/her name, you're not going to rage and fly across the street yelling at the person to /change/ his/her name. Feral Heart maybe is a game, but people still have feelings. Accusing someone of "name stealing" of the name.. Lilly, let's say, is simply childish. Just mash up a few words and bam, you have an original name.
I'm happy none tried stealing my name, probably because you don't really know how to pronounce "Canem". These stories are fun, enjoyed reading them!

I have never had anyone come up to me and start screaming to me about "name stealing"; that's probably because I usually come up with my characters' names, and sometimes I will see someone who used the name, but I simply don't care. I don't go up to them and start yelling at them, I find it a compliment that someone likes the name and is willing to use it.

Very few people bother me about name copying, Probably because the names I use are a bit uncommon. However when someone does feel the need to freak out on me about my character names I usually get really sarcastic and ask if they have a copyright on the name. Though on one occasion someone tried to tell me they did have a copyright on the name "Slate" they then proceeded to fail to be able to tell me what a copyright was, I found it funny and taunted them till they told me they were crying and were going to kill themselves because I stole "Their" name. But to exit Jay-Story-time and to instead share my feelings, name claimers are in my opinion stupid, They act like dumb children causing drama for attention. Though I will admit I can be harsh these are one of the groups of people who annoy me the most, More then stupid five-year-olds who won't shut up.

They're downright annoying!
There's this person who yelled at me because of my username. Why? Because his OC was a Transformer character which the name is Fallenstar. Ok, like, how could I flipping know? It's not like I knew it when I created my account.
There was one thing, only one thing that pissed me off once. A friend I made on FH, that I thought I knew, which had seen my character Soulshatter many times... She decided to simply name one of her character that, then unfriended me. I didn't take it right. I found her and talked with her about it, she then said that she was sorry: she had know idea hw to call her new character. Apparently, she deleted me from her friendlist by accident. We found a new name for her character, an epic, unique name.

Once I was on my character Stripestar looking for members. I noticed a character also named Stripestar but it was colored just like the starting character when to make a new one. I didn't say anything because there are a lot of leaders with the same name. He kind of use looked at me from far away then left. He came back looking just like me and he came over and said, 'You stole my character's markings and name! I am going to report you if you don't change it RIGHT NOW!' Seriously? I just blocked him and didn't say a word.

time I was roleplaying on Sebastion from Black Butler I had another come up to me with the rage emoteand starting complaining about how we had the same character and wanted me to change it. Then 'killed' me. xD

I have met a lot of name claimers over the years of my internet life. At first when I was a young floof, I used to shout at them and rage for them to stop copying my name.
But these days I rarely see anyone name claiming my name because I have a lot of accounts and these days sites don't let a member have the same user as another member. So I am usually safe from name claimers.
But it does annoy me when someone isn't bothered to think of their own name and just takes a random name or copies off someone else. It is irritating but... I guess they are either wowed by your name or they just like drama...

I had this happen to me once. I made a wolf Char and named her Bandit (yes I know Bandit is a male name) and someone yelled at me in FT for name stealing on my third day playing it,

Never had anyone do this to me, but it happened to my best friend. SHe had an awesomely unique character and one person completely copied it. I mean the bio was the same, the name, the clan, and the look. THe only difference was that the new person had a face mane. She almost started crying when the person came up to her and started yelling at her. Note she's had the character for nearly three months at this point, everything in her bio happened.
This person obviously stole her character. She didn't even pick the second half of her name, the rp leader did. That was irritating, but something I think is true is that someone can take your character's looks, their name, their history, but only YOU know how to play them accurately, and so they are yours no matter what.
