dA community's concept on "art"

<< < (2/5) > >>

Some of the nude pieces aren't that bad actually - and I'm not saying that in a "OMG DROOL" perverted way, I mean it in an artistic photographic way.

To be honest, I haven't seen much actual web/camera porn like what you're saying. Maybe it has to do with that I don't browse much or something to do with my premie account, I'm not sure. xD

dA = drama arena, that's dA /real/ problem. xD

Tyki Mikk:
dA is definetly a drama arena. @_@ There arent any mods to count on either. Like here, when your obviously being targeted or verbally abused in some way or another, the mods are already reading over it. But there they just dont care.

ColonelHamilton:
The problem is, there is no clear way to decide what is art and what isn't art with something like this.  A crappy drawing is still art, even if it is not very refined.  How do you decide whether a picture of a naked woman is a failed attempt at an artistic nude or just meant for porn?

In any case, those kinds of photos should be marked as mature.

TealSkeletore:
If you set your dA front page to show only 'popular' or there are a few other settings in a drop down menu, you won't encounter those kind of things xD

Tyki Mikk:
Honestly I dont care if its a nude picture. So a filter is not needed in this case for me Teal. xD Its just that almost every time I see these things, its almost always the same thing. Some chick looking for attention. Some of it is for stock I know, and thats good. But when youve got a chick in nothing but undies, and under fasion and photography, thats not fashion and in no way art. Unless the thing their trying to show off is for a purpose. Other than that a nude photo with obviously no thought or effort put into it is not art to me.
