Rothaw
The Story of the Deer

Long ago, before human reign over the Earth, there was a time ruled by no creature. The land was merciless as well as giving. It was survival of the fittest.

A land known as Rothaw by the deer who inhabit it gave life to them. Legends surrounded the place, encasing it with a mysterious shell that was impossible to unveil. Humans, the future 'Rulers of the Earth', rarely set foot in the land. Its myths kept them out, warning of danger and giving the land a foreboding feel to any human.

But the deer thrived. Three species claimed territory: The Red, The White-Tailed, and The Roe.

How will your life as a deer unfold?

Rules

Keep it realistic. No random sparkle-stag or a doe who can see the future. You get the point. REALISTIC.

One of the only unrealistic things is how these deer are allowed to mate for life. In real life, most live solitary lives and just come together at the rut, which is in fall. Do what you want.

All pictures must be of real deer. No cartoon deer.

Cussing is not allowed. Deer wouldn't know all those words anyways.

Keep the mating scenes down to a minimum. We don't want to know exactly what you did.

Birthing scenes are allowed, but don't go into extreme detail that could gross some people out. You are allowed to mention the cleaning process of the fawn, though, since I find that it adds to the realistic-ness.

Gestation lasts for one real-life week. No magically having a fawn.

There are only three types of deer you can be, and that is Red, White-Tailed, or Roe. This will cut down on the annoying mess of multiple species.

No power-playing, or having perfect characters. That is extremely annoying, and I will warn you if I think your character is 'too perfect'.

Try to make more than one character. At least 3, if you're comfortable with that many. 2 is fine.

Don't overload us with does! UGH! That makes me so mad when there's only females, and then one male or something. Then all the females expect the male to come to them and fawn - pardon the pun - over them.

If you read all the rules, put 'Marshmallow Antlers' somewhere in your application.

This is a 99% literate roleplay! That means you can make the honest mistake of misspelling something, but you can't type like this "she ws an egstremley beutifal doe with bryt brownn eys" or whatever.

You may kill your own characters, but don't start acting out these dramatic deaths or injuries just to get attention.

Yes, drama is welcome to keep the rp going, but don't grab all the attention by constantly getting chased by wolves or seeing humans, etc. Your deer isn't more special than the rest.

Don't make predator characters like wolves or cougars. You may NPC roleplay them, but you can't actually make the character.

Your stag can't have 500 points on his antlers! And does of these species don't have antlers at all. In this rp, the most points allowed is 12 on each antler, and most don't have that, especially young ones. The average here is about 6 on each antler.

Not everyone can have an albino or piebald deer. That just makes it annoyingly common.

Have fun!

This looks interesting! Although, perhaps you should include links or something to things about each different species of deer, so people know what their deer character is like?

Name- Ashok
Gender- Stag
Species- White Tailed Deer
Age- 4 [19-21 in human years]

Personality- Ashok is a stag that thinks a lot for his age, contemplating situations with interest and reason.
Though most his age tend to bully others to show off and prove dominance, he could care less and is often times the one
who;s actually targeted for such bullying, as he won't always put up a fight and back off. This isn't because of cowardice,
however, but simply that he sees no point in such acts and knows very well what he's capable of without having to prove
it. However, this doesn't necessarily mean he'll let others just push him around, if the situation really calls for it he will
put up a fight but only if he can't use his wit to talk himself out of it.
Sarcasm is a favorite of this young male's, though he doesn't use his antlers to ward of attackers he uses words and
may at times try to outsmart them if he can but he's clever enough not to go to far where the ones he's talking to would
want to "teach him a lesson". You can often find him on his own but that doesn't make him unsocial, it could merely mean
he was avoiding the more ignorant deer for others much more easier to converse and be around with.
Despite the fact of being bullied regularly, he doesn't let the fact bother him and carried on with confidence. And though
he may not be as open upon the first meeting and may appear impassive about everything, he can actually be a kind
stag though he may show it in small actions.

Strengths- His mind, mostly. With it he can get out of tough situations either verbally or physically, outwitting
opponents and looking for weaknesses. This could mean that he will fight dirty if he has to, as fighting isn't a favorite of
his and he'd rather not be the one coming out with the most injuries. Other than that, sight and hearing are another two
strong points.
Weaknesses- Though he doesn't like fights, he may cause one by accidental when getting too carried away with
his speech. Sometimes he can be a smart alec and enrage the one he's speaking to which could end badly for him. He's
also bullied a lot, and because of this he can be very guarded around others especially ones he doesn't know, which
could make a bad first impression and lose him the chance of making friends. When he realizes this mistake, though, he
may try to fix it.

Crush/Mate- None currently.
Offspring- N/A
Other- In his picture he has four prongs, but he really has five on each antler. The extra prong will be branching off
from the third point on each antler, making a kind of v shape. At least he doesn't have Marshmellow Antlers!

Name- Nimai
Gender- Doe
Species- White Tailed Deer
Age- 3 [18-19 in human years]

Personality- She's rather quiet but not out of shyness. It's because she uses her ears to their full extent, listening
to her surroundings as well as to others. When she sees an opening to speak and if she has anything to say, she will,
but if not then either she will say nothing or give some small comment if someone expects her to. She's a bit unusual
compared to other female deer, she doesn't take kindly to "woe-is-me-self-pity" and she will tell you face-to-face to get
over it, being rather blunt and straightforward with her words. She also hates being told what to do unless she herself
sees the reason of why she should obey, in which case she may already be doing what she's suppose to do.
Though she has low tolerance of whining, this doesn't mean she'll push everyone away who has a problem. If it's a
reasonable one and appropriate of one's age, she will gladly listen in and offer advice to the best of her abilities. This she
enjoys and what she works best at, she won't interrogate someone into giving her the answers but she'll let those who
need it know that she is there to help and offer comfort. Just don't take advantage of her because you will regret it.
Unlike bucks, Nimai obviously lacks the strength of antlers, but this doesn't mean she's going to back down. Even if it was
against a buck, Nimai will give her full opinion and not be pushed around. If there's trouble and there's something she
could do to help, she will provide it, wither it be small or big.

Strengths- A kind heart that makes her many allies. Advice is usually what she has best to offer, and when trouble
is brewing she takes care that those especially vulnerable make it to safety first and will try her best to buy them time.
Hearing is a strong quality, and along with that is her rather strange way of making up to places that otherwise seem
impossible to reach. She also possesses deep determination to get a task done.
Weaknesses- Her boldness could be her downfall. Her willingness to help others may cause her to make a mistake
which could be harmful if not fatal, along with taking too much responsibility on her own shoulders. Sometimes she has to
remind herself of her abilities, but this could cause her to make a choice that'll break her heart.

Crush/Mate- None currently.
Offspring- N/A
Other- N/A

Name- Algernon
Gender- Stag
Species- Red Deer
Age- 12 years [Full lifespan is 18]

Personality- Algernon is a very silent deer, both in nature and speech. Years of experience had calmed his spirit
and sharpened his senses, he walks among the woodlands and passes by without catching the attention of hardly
anyone, taking secret routes as he patrols. With his age and the wisdom it brought, he takes it upon himself to help and
teach those younger than him, passing on his knowledge to those who ask for it and willing to listen. Most of the time no
one sees this stag at months at a time, sometimes he can be thought of as dead and then reappear suddenly. Algernon
mostly seems to appear when others need him, or trouble is afoot. In fact, when caught in danger, deer are often saved
when this stag shows up to fight away the threat. Then just as suddenly as he comes, he's gone.
Algernon takes care of the woods that is his home, making sure there is as little threat as possible for those who roam in
them. He listens for cries of help and answers. He's very respected because of his age and what he does, no one ever
challenging him to a fight and he in turn leaves them be.

Strengths- The many years he's lived for a deer have provided him with both wisdom and experience in battle.
Very few ever dare to challenge him, and those who do are soon backing off. The constant danger he has lived has
sharpened his senses greatly, and he uses these attributes to help others out of tough situations. He knows many
secret routes within the forest, and is able to pass through without making a sound.
Weaknesses- As his age is his strength, it is also his weakness. Algernon is not what he used to be and at times
he becomes ill. When this happens he eats plants and herbs to sustain his health and he'll be hiding out from unwanted
eyes until he recovers his strength. It's because of this that his diet is very specific and he always has to eat certain
things otherwise the results could be fatal. Also, during times he may be in a fight, he makes it as brief and quick as
possible, for if it's dragged on he could tire himself out.

Crush/Mate- Had quite a few mates during his time. Most of them are deceased now (if not all). His one "true"
mate, though, he had been with for a very long time. She passed away recently, however, when a bobcat got to her.
Offspring- Had a good many, none of which are fawns anymore. After his "true love" died he no longer mated.
Other- Algernon is mostly a side character of mine who will be making few appearances, as it says he shows up
when he's needed. If you want Algernon to show up, just ask through OOC :3
Anyone is also permitted to have a doe and/or buck that is the son/daughter of Algernon. Just keep in mind that because
of his rather solitary life he isn't a regular visitor and may very likely not have spent hardly any time with them as they
grew, especially when they were still fawns.

Name- Dusk/Dusky

Gender- Female Fawn

Species- White-Tail

Age- Young fawn

Personality- Dusky is a lively and energetic young fawn who has a habbit of annoying the older members of the herd with this. Quick thinking and not taking things into consideration, Dusky may find herself in sticky situations. She wants to grow up quickly so she could run with the doe and watch stags fight over her. She loves waiting for the doe to give birth so she can have some fawn to play with, since most of the others get too annoyed with her games to be botherd to hang around with Young Dusk. She stay's within the heard, but does like to follow bugs on the ground or flying above her or even bids that sing in the trees, since she loves the sound of them. Pranking is her purpous as a fawn. Tricking them by kicking younger fawn over and biting older deers legs for fun. She still does not do as she is told which leads the older members of the herd mad.

Strengths- A strong Streangth is her legs. They can take big long strides as she pushes herself to gallop at the same speed as stags and hinds.  She has a good chance of getting out of trouble with this. She has a strong lung that leads to a strong vocal cord. She lets out long, deafening screams if she is in trouble or if the young fawn is lost.

Weaknesses- Her one and only weakness is her mind. She finds it difficult to consentrate and gets carried away easily with things that distract her.

Crush/Mate- N/A

Offspring- N/A To young

Other- When Dusky was coming off her mothers milk, her mother was shot for venison to eat. She is now a loner in the herd and rely's on the doe's to help her in life. Also, the picture is not mine (c) Someone on Google Images.'Marshmallow Antlers'

Strengths
Leila is fast, and very in tune with things going on around her, not much tends to escape her when she is paying attention to what is going on around her.
Weaknesses
fearfulness is definitely her weakness. But mostly when she is fleeing in a panic, it is definitely a blind panic, and has a tendency for running into everything.

So, if you wouldn't mind, please tweak your applications a bit, and I'll look them over to change them in the Character list.

((Well I know for White Tailed Deer, they only live for about four to five years, but this is mainly when they're in the wild. With the many dangers, hardly any of them manage to live longer, especially if they're stags because hunters are always after them. When in captivity, they can live up to six to 14 years, it's been known that some of them can even live up to 19. I believe it would be similar with the Red Deer and the Roe, just different lifespans but I'm not completely sure x3

But I have read that a three year old white tail deer behave just like an 18 year old human. 4 year old is the same but with more maturity than the three year old. Any older is rare to find out in the wild, and a ten year old deer would be an elderly one.

I was going to reply but I gotta go ^.^'

Ashok peered cautiously at the surrounding trees, head moving steadily as he took his bearings. Ears perked forward then backward, repeating the process a few times while he breathed in the early morning dew. Good, it seems clear enough... The stag stepped into the little clearing, relieved that the other male deer weren't about. He had just barely avoided one of them further back, he really didn't want to come face-to-face with one of them at the moment. Not that he ever looked forward to seeing them. Still, Ashok was craving a little company, it had been awhile since he spoke to anyone and though being alone was sometimes good the silence ate at his self conscious.

The young stag dug a hoof into the ground, moving it back and forth as he worked on digging up some roots. Gently he lowered his head to grip the treat between his teeth, tugging and pulling until it came free and began to chew. The long antlers on his head made it a little difficult to perform this task which was why he had to move carefully, but after being with the crown for so long Ashok was of course used to it and hardly noticed. This was a good thing as he needed to raise his head to it's full height to check his surroundings after each pull, not wanting someone unwanted to sneak up on him. Each time this process was done everything still seemed clear, an observation that both relieved and disappointed him.

Perhaps I should head toward the meadow, he thought absently, bending his head for another bite. It's usually crowded this time of day. Though that could mean I'll have to run into one of those bullies... If I keep out of their sight and draw as less attention to myself as possible, though, perhaps they'll leave me alone.

((Just something to get things started. I'll make a post with Nimai after everyone else does so I know where all of the characters are at, so then I can have her meet someone if I can :3

Also, I hope the time reference in the post was okay! I'm not quite sure for Roe and Red deer though I suspect it's similar, but for White Tailed deer they tend to only be up and about when evening is approaching, night time, and early morning. By midday/afternoon they're usually asleep because it's less dangerous, though this is usually because of humans sometimes showing up which is different here cause there aren't as many here. So I don't know if it's different here haha. What's the season by the way..?))

(Yeah, you said :3)

Dusky

The small, forked hooves of Dusk were tucked under her belly, her neck out-streached with her eye lids closed. The young fawn was sleeping. Her large ears flapped about in the air as small mosquito's swarmed around her delicate head. She shifted it onto a patch of grass, damp with morning dew, whilst her body shifted slightly. The eye lids of the young fawn opend to reviel a watery morning sun. She wagged her little tail and opend her small mouth, yawning. A leg protruded from under her belly, resting it onto the grass then lifting herself upwards, her bandy legs looking too slim to be able to walk with. Bowing her neck, she sniffed the flattend grass in which she had slept on. She scratched around with the flat grass, attempting to make it stand again. She raised her head and watched her herd members nibbling on grass or stags patrolling and keeping watch of the herd. A breath erupted from her mouth, evaperating into smoke. She stepped forward, her neck steaching back and her hind legs tensing. The streatching felt good whenever she wakes up. A loud, but smoothing call of a mockingbird rang out from one of the lush, evergreen trees and Dusk enjoyed its sweet sound. Dusky bounded a few paces and out streached both of her legs. Her wet nose stuck into the air playfully. Anyone want to play with me, Dusky, The best fawn for anytype of plays? She squeeked loudly. Drops of water from the large trees above flaked down onto her head as she manuverd through the large tree trunks. Most of the deer were at the edge of the trees and near a large meadow which shone brightly with water, the sun streaking onto it. The sight was beautiful to her eyes.

A few paces away stood a stag. She stared at his antlers. I want a pair, She thought to herself. Recognising him as Tavish, she spoke. Mr. Tavish, sir? She gruffed. We are... we are going to be moving soon, yes , sir?. Dusky always wanted to address adult deer like this, since she thought it would be rude to not do so. Severel more smokey breaths flowed from her nostrils and into the soft morning air.

Name-  Goliath
Gender- Buck
Species- White-tailed Deer also Known as (Odocoileus virginianus or Virgina Deer).
Age- He is Five.
Personality-   Goliath is a very strong brave character, he is very intelligent and over the years, has recognized the pattern of humans.  Daylight is a major red-zone, night however, is much safer (Hunting at Night is Illegal.)  Having an Acknowledgment of that aspect, he prefers and tends to do most of him moving, and/or grazing at night.  In November, when the rut is at it's prime.  He will be seen, running down does.  But who wouldn't be seen running after a hot lady, if given the opportunity.
Strengths-  His main strengths is his intelligence.  He is very fast and can run a good thirty-five miles per hour, though when he is in full rut and his neck and shoulders are swollen, his speed is decreased for obvious reasons.
Weaknesses-  His main weakness is mainly sight.  He can't see that well, and after taking a blow to the left eye during a duel, he has lost all left peripheral vision.
Crush/Mate-  He like any other buck, takes any doe that is willing too mate. (November Fever gets too him xD)
Offspring- He has fathered many fawns.
Other-  He would be considers a Boone and Crockett Buck.  (Wish I could catch one of those big boys xD)

Name-  Kye
Gender- Doe
Species- White-tailed deer
Age- Three
Personality-  Kye is a very shy doe, and tends to be found alone rather then in big groups.  She lives a basic solitary live, though will sometimes feed close to a group for extra eyes but never within it.  She is very intelligent, yet still has never distinguished the sound of a "phony" fawn bleat from a real one. She is very motherly, and is very curious.  When she's in heat, she gives bucks a run for they're money.
Strengths-  Her main strengths are speed and agility, and of course her main senses (keen sense of smell and excellent hearing).  This doe is also quite intelligent, and resourceful.
Weaknesses-  She has a very motherly instinct, and is almost always the first one to be drawn out by a "phony" fawn distress bleat.
Crush/Mate- none
Offspring-none
Other- Marshmallow Antlers

Tavish, sporting his fairly attractive set of antlers, twitched an ear. He'd just heard his name uttered by someone, but he didn't look around just yet. He, being a slightly foolish buck, was momentarily stunned by a random doe who had strutted flirtily by.
Snorting and shaking his head, he turned and cast his gaze about for the one who had spoken. Catching sight of someone, he noticed that it was just a small female fawn, who looked slightly mesmerized by his antlers.
He chuckled deep in his throat for a moment, but then shook his head again. "Nah, we'll be staying here for a while. But, if you'd like, you may patrol with me."
Tavish was a favorite among some of the fawns, since he would often play with them or chase them around in a game of tag.

Lilias, her four hooves perched delicately on an outcropping of stone, flapped both her ears slowly at the flies that had gathered. It was summer, so they were pretty hungry for deer. (heh, bloodthirsty flies) The red doe stepped carefully off of the rock, her sharp hooves cutting little holes in the soft earth and the blades of grass that tickled at her hocks.
Without much else to do, she lowered her muzzle, which was tipped by a damp nose that flared slightly like a horse's, and began munching on the grass. She chewed it slowly, often picking up her head to look around at her surroundings.
She was in a sloped meadow that was full of tumbled-down boulders with their scattered piles of smaller rocks. A few trees dotted the hillside, but mostly, it was a clear space. More trees rimmed it on all four sides, but they were a fair distance off, probably a half-mile on all directions.

EDIT: @Theobear

Goliath grunted, his ears pricked, he listened for any trace of a reply.  It wasn't a threatening sound such as a wheeze (sound dominant bucks do too chase/warn submissive bucks... xD) it was more of a social grunt.  A sound that's main purpose was to locate and draw in company.  His massive rack brutally beating the weak delicate aspen branches, he trotted through the slowly thinning foliage.
                                                                                    ----
Kye snorted, her tail flickering, she raised her head.  Her brown orbs scanning the beautiful bright open scene around her.  The doe's jaws gently gridded together, tearing and shredding the soft grass blades that tickled her tongue. Her ears swiveled,  taking in the sounds of the forest, the constant cackling of a raven, the whispering wind as it danced with the sweet tender grass around her.  The doe had placed herself on the timber line of a green meadow, a relevantly safe spot.  The grass tickling her tummy, she busied herself with slowly devouring her "treasure".

Though the solitude had been great, Ashok was ready to be around others of his kind, and ones that wouldn't try to challenge him to a fight at that. With silent steps (slightly more so than an average deer), a tactic he worked on to avoid unwanted ears that practically became a habit now, he began making his way to the meadow. Luckily it wasn't far, so this gave him a less likely chance of coming across company until he got there. But the young stag was in no hurry, he walked on at a leisurely pace while taking in his surroundings, enjoying the peaceful scenery of the woodlands. A squirrel made it's way across Ashok's path, too much in a hurry to even give him a glance though that was fine with him. The birds continued on with their morning song, greeting one another and discussing things among themselves that Ashok could only wonder about. Mornings such as this one were always wonderful, the sun, though still weak, casting it's warm rays upon his fur that he wondered about where he shall sleep later on in the day so he could drift lazily off into slumber where he'll be safe.

With all of these clouding his senses, Ashok had almost missed the presence of another until he nearly came upon him. What caught his attention back to reality was the sound of snapping branches, way too loud to be caused by a bird. The male deer remained at his spot, locating the source with his ears and finding it with his keen eyes. To his dismay, it was a male buck, not much older than he was. Ashok cursed at himself for his foolery, for lowering his guard even if it were for a second. Though upon further inspection, it didn't seem like this male (Goliath) ((Really awesome name, by the way, it makes me think of a character named that in Adventure Time xD)) wasn't interested in showing off prowess to others. Hopefully this observation was true, because the male only had to give a simple turn of his head and he'll see Ashok, if he hadn't noticed his presence yet by smell.

In those quick seconds, however, Ashok wondered about turning away now and taking a different route. He really didn't want to be bothered if this male was the kind to bully others, but turning away now could be a risk for him as the male may decide to attack anyway when his back was exposed. With wary eyes, he decided to wait and see if the stag would notice him, hoping that the slightly older male was more interested in company than an enemy.

((I hope I read Goliath's post all right, it sounded like he hadn't made it to the meadow yet so I thought it'd be a chance for Ashok to meet someone before they entered the meadow :3
If it is wrong, I shall edit!))

~*~*~*~*~

Nimai's already light fur gleamed even brighter as the sun reflected it's rays upon her, warming her from stray breezes. If she were to hold still long enough, it would seem like the sun was merely lighting up a patch of earth, camouflaging the young doe from her enemies. This was unneeded at the moment, however, as no enemies were afoot but dear friends and allies. Standing in the meadow, she held herself up with confidence and assurance, looking over to the others as she chewed her meal. Some might have mistook this as cockiness, but the alert eyes and shifting ears gave a clear message that she was aware of her surroundings and the possible hidden dangers.

The female deer didn't linger in one spot for too long, it was as if she had set herself her own personal patrol border. When she went to graze, she would walk some distance from her original spot and to a knew one, stopping there for a while as again she looked about while chewing. The process would repeat itself, but always in a different location. Those who had been looking at her and turn away and glance to the same spot again would find her missing, then see her popping out somewhere else. Eventually she found herself on a hillside, a bit further from the others but still close enough to see a few of them passing by now and then.

Nimai was about to shift locations again when a sound caught her ears; munching and slight movement. Curious, she raised her head higher to locate the source, head moving slowly as deer often did when something caught their attention. "Oh, hello there!" the doe called brightly, smiling when she saw that the one who was making the noise was a doe like herself (Lilias). She hoped that they had noticed her presence before she greeted them, however, as she didn't want to startle them. The doe seemed somewhat familiar to her, she had seen her a few times before but never had the pleasure of introducing herself. Perhaps now was a good time as any.

(I love your post... :)Thanks... I love your Character's name.)

Goliath's nostrils flared as the scent of another buck flooded his nasal cavity.  Grunting, he stopped, then turned, his enormous velvet laced rack, gently rubbing on the tough exterior/bark of a birch tree.  The large Buck, raised his head, then grunted again.  Leaning his neck out, he caught glimpse of the buck.  Another Whitetail, not much younger then he was.  Flicking an ear, the large buck raised his right leg, a gesture of uncertainty.  Was this Buck here to duel?  Would Goliath make the smaller younger buck nervous? Too many questions and not enough answers.  (I am guessing it's spring, so the velvet coat would still be on the male's=buck's, stag's antlers. If not, I can edit.) :)

((It can be spring. xD Meep. Hehe))

Lilias stopped munching on the wad of chewed up grass that all red deer, at least, could regurgitate and chew on again. Like a cow's cud. She had noticed a doe coming closer, her movements unknown by Lilias until she saw the few spots where the female must've been grazing.
Huh, interesting pattern, she thought with a bit of humor to herself. Meeting the white-tail's eyes, she waggled both of her ears in greeting.
"Hello," she replied quietly, keeping a respectfully polite air. Her short, flickering tail was low in a casual position, and one slender hind-leg was cocked against the ground.
Lilias examined the white-tail. She (Nimai) was smaller than herself with a smooth, even-toned brown coat. Lilias's pelt was a rather chimeric pattern with the different shades alternating along her flanks.
Lilias blinked her wide-set eyes that were custom to red deer, the long eyelashes brushing away some flies that had tried to land on her eyelids.

An abrupt grunt made Aleri tilt an ear in the direction of the meadow. She'd been traveling towards it through the thick trees, picking her way slowly and carefully among the twisted roots and shrubs that fought for space on the ground.
Aleri's vivid white tail shot up and curled over her back in her signature style as she walked forward, her stride slightly reluctant now.
The muscular flanks of a stag (Ashok) seemed to materialize out of the brush as Aleri progressed, and as she moved further she could see the second one that stood nearby, his large antlers still in velvet (Goliath).
Aleri's eyes widened in alarm, but neither of the males seemed hostile. However, she couldn't help but stare cautiously for a while before continuing on her way, her hooves making very little sound. Her slight frame was dappled with the golden-green light that filtered through the leaves above, giving her a kind of camouflage against the background of bushes and low-growing trees.

Goliath grunted, as he scented a doe.  His ears perking, he grunted again.  Lifting his head, he extended his neck.  His best attempt of locating the doe, he flicked an ear.  His large rack seeming to be floating, he scanned the grass.  Turning his head to the right, as if he was displaying his large antlers--when in reality he was taking in the sights, his blind left eye was restricted from viewing.

Dusky

The young fawn waggled her ears exitedly. You really mean i can patrol with you? She sqeeked, her tail held high and her bandy legs wobbling in joy. Dusky started to pounce around Tavish, her head bobbing side to side as she did. The lush, thick green trees towerd over her, letting through lumps of sun through the leaves, the rays setting on her back. What are you ment to do? Will i have to help? Is there any danger? Dusky gasped. Danger. This is going to be great! She thought to herself. The thick foalige behind her swifted roughly as the breeze knocked it. Above, large puffy white clouds past her, in which Dusky though they were piles of snow that were air-born. Her wet nose pointed up to the stags antlers. She sewed her eyes to them for minuets untill she caught Tavish's eye and looked away, not wanting for a natural thing like antlers get her amazed. Mr. Tavish sir? Only boy's get them, don't they? The fawn grunted, directing her head to Tavish's rack. Because if girlies get them, we will look like boys. She giggled. And i don't want to look like a boy. Dusk lowerd her neck and  snapped the stem of a flower, folding it between her teeth. She munched on it for a while, tossing her head too and fro, eager to get going.

Tavish laughed. It was a deep, bellowing sound that didn't echo very far, but it filled the space around them. He tried to answer all of her questions one by one.
"Yes, you can patrol with me. We have to search for danger or signs of bad things. But there's no danger right now. And of course, only boys get antlers, because girls are supposed to be pretty. Antlers are there just for protection so we can save you from other creatures." He paused, twitching both ears patiently.
"And you're a very pretty little doe, so I don't want to see you being sad about having no antlers."
Tavish switched his small tail and began walking, a proud gait that moved him at a smooth, steady pace. "What is your name, by the way? I don't want to just call you 'Fawn'."

Something caught Aleri's eyes, and it stopped her instantly in her tracks. A pair of velvet-antlers stood tall over some shrubs and bushes. The doe tilted her head, and her tail flickered about instinctively, but she didn't know what to do for now.
It wasn't the rut, which was in the golden days of autumn, so she would naturally have nothing to worry about from any buck. That was the only reason she didn't bolt immediately.

Ashok's eyes quickly took in the opposite stag's demeanor, detecting no threat or hostile. A good sign. He's wondering the same thing I am, he realized, noting his hesitation. The young male had to show he had no intention of fighting, otherwise the opposing deer's wariness could end in the defensive. Clearing his throat, Ashok spoke in a clear voice, polite if a bit formal, "Hello, there. I hope I'm not intruding. My name is Ashok, I was just passing through on my way to the meadow. I apologize if I disturbed you in any way."

The young stag was about to say more, but a whiff had cut him off. Momentarily his gaze lowered from the slightly taller buck's to the area behind him, taking care to keep the male in his sights still. It's another deer, he analyzed, and female. Much better than a buck, for friendly reasons. It appeared that the other male in front of him noticed to, but he was shifting his head like he was taking notice. Ashok waited a moment, expecting him to say something to their visitor as she was closer to him, but he remained silent. Though he found the gesture a bit odd, being used to other stags boasting and bragging all the time, Ashok merely shrugged inwardly and decided he could do it. Even if nothing much was going on, he hated being spied/eavesdropped upon.

"Hello?" he called lightly. "Anyone out there?"

~*~*~*~*~

Nimai's ears flicked forward gleefully, happy that the response she received was a welcoming one. She recalled one time of being yelled and lectured at by another doe she tried hanging around with, an experience she did not like to repeat as the crazy female chased her off nearly half way through the meadow. Though she was pretty elderly.

The young doe took a few more steps forward, but paused at a respectable distance. Now that she had a clearer view, she could see that the doe before her wasn't a White Tail like herself but a Red. Not that it made any different to her, but her eyes couldn't help but admire the nice shades and patterns the color had on the female. "Sorry to just pop in like this," she began politely. "It's just I've noticed you around before and you always seem to be on your own. That could be a miscalculation on my part, though, as I'm always moving about. Still, I thought you may like some company? I know I would, but I will leave if I'm bothering you."

The smile had remained upon her visage, the last thing she wanted was to seem like she was pushing an invitation on the other female without the option to decline. She really would leave if the doe requested it of her, she understood when others needed some alone time.

Goliath grunted, then dropped his neck.  His head snapping back to the buck, he flicked his tail.  "No, I was just heading to the meadow."  Pawing the leaf littered ground, he gridded his teeth.  The big buck, snorted.  Raising his head again, he sniffed the air, the doe was still near.  Flicking an ear, he lowered his head to the ground, tossing it gently, he began to graze on a couple of stray grass blades.  His head turned, his dead murky useless eye gazed blindly at the buck.  Normally, Goliath would have always been keeping his "good" eye on a stranger, but considering the buck's stance and the statement he had just provided. Goliath felt somewhat comfortable, though if the smaller buck tried anything, he was ready.

Dusky

The fawn watched the placid gait of Tavish marching of. Dusk tryed to do the same, her front knees raising high, nearly touching her chin. It was more of a frolic than a trot. The dew hoof of the small doe tickled as she pass around the meadow; she thought that the grass blades were delibritly doing this. Her crown(Top of her Head) faced forwards as she stared at the water droplets on the grass, dribbling onto the soft turf to were woodlouse and ants scatter, trying to avoid the huge dribbles. A huge gust of wind knocked her into the stags shoulder. She felt the pulse in his musles beating steadily. She did this a few times. It was comforting to her. She had always fell back to her mother in a gust of wind, because she was always beside her. She realised that Tavish was talking, asking for her name. Im Dusk, or Dusky. My mother called me Dusk because the liked it when the sun was setting and it was becoming dark. My friends nicknamed me Dusky. We used to put Y's on the end of everyones name. Even if it sounded silly. She giggled. My older freind was called Petal, and we called her Petaly. Then she did not want to play with me no more 'cause... i sort off... bit her. I did not mean to. She was winding me up, uh, Mr. Tavish, sir. She finished. She was starting a whole diffrent topic that wheeled off to a conversation. Dusky's clear voice bleaped around her, but could not be heard very far. Do you like the sound of the birdies in the trees, Mr. Tavish, sir? I think they sound pretty. She meeped, her large ears flapping as she heard the elegant song of a great tit, alluring a female bird to breed with. A Cardinal mingled with the birds songs. The songs blending was soothing to her ears.

((Dusky is so freakin' cute. <33333))

Tavish paused in his stride on one such occasion that the little fawn barreled into his shoulder to help her regain balance. He lifted his head, the brow tines of his antlers pointed straight towards where the birds Dusk had been speaking of were twittering and whistling.
"Of course, Dusky. May I call you that?" He wiggled his nose-tip in a comical way.
Their course was headed for the trees, but he didn't intend to enter them. Fawns were usually forbidden to enter them, as that was the place where fawns would most likely be caught by foxes or wildcats. Not that that rule was always followed.

Aleri, deciding it wouldn't be a bad thing to seem friendly, she poked her head through a screen of brush and flicked both wide, long ears. "Hello," she said rather timidly to the two bucks, more to the one who had hailed her with the question.
The slender white-tail doe pushed through the vegetation, shaking the leaves off of her tail with a few quick flickers. Like any female, she was slightly transfixed by the proud antlers that each buck carried upon his skull, and she blinked her large, chocolate-colored eyes in awe.
After a few more blinks, she lowered her gaze, but she couldn't hold eye-contact for long from the shyness that tickled at her mind. Despite this outward appearance of polite submission, she was ready to leap away at any moment, should things turn for bad.

Lilias dipped her head and then leaned her long, curved neck to one side. The hind wasn't exactly a talkative one at first, but this White Tail that had approached her seemed especially friendly.
"Oh, you may join me," she replied, her cocked back leg straightening so she could tilt the other one instead. "I'm Lilias, by the way." She put on small, calm half-smile.

((-stares angrily at my rps- Why you not more descriptive? >.<))

((Sorry for the lateness guys! Connections been very annoying lately ._.))

Ashok observed the other male curiously, wondering about his behavior. At least it seemed like they were headed in the same direction, and he sounded friendly enough. Perhaps he could offer accompanying him? About to ask such a thing, and for his name, Ashok was shocked into silence when he finally realized the rather oddly glazed eye. Is he blind? he wondered, then quickly corrected his mistake. No, not completely. It's only this eye. Not wanted to be rude or show disrespect, the young stag avoided looking directly at the eye and instead shifted his gaze to the doe, who finally emerged.

"Oh, hello there," Ashok greeted her. His head tilted slightly when he noticed her demeanor, not quite uncommon from usual doe though she seemed especially shy. Hoping to ease her edginess, Ashok offered a friendly smile and kept his distance. "It's a pleasure to meet you, my lady. My name is Ashok, may I have your name?"

Though his head was held up, it wasn't in a way where he was trying to show dominance or a challenge. His eyes occasionally flickered off to keep vigilance of his surroundings but otherwise he stayed focused on the two before him for politeness. If things went well, perhaps they all could accompany each other.

((Quick note, the "my lady" comment was in no way a response to try and "flirt" with Aleri, it was merely a polite acknowledgement since he doesn't know her name yet x3))

~*~*~*~*~

"Great!" Nimai replied happily, her tail flicking upward as she smiled. However, her ears pinned back and she blushed lightly beneath her fur, completely embarrassed as she realized she hadn't introduced herself yet. How very rude of her. "Nice to meet you, Lilias. I am known as Nimai," the young doe answered, looking almost apologetic as she did. Her dark eyes then went over the meadow, checking the surrounding deer and seeing if any change had been made, testing the air. Finding nothing wrong, she returned her attention to the doe.

"So why are you all the way out here, if you don't mind me asking?"

Leila hesitantly stepped from her protective cover of the trees as she slowly made her way towards the centre of the meadow, a bold move for the small nervous doe. With every significant noise she came to a complete halt, every muscle ready to dart for the cover of the trees. When she got far enough into the meadow to feel somewhat more relaxed thanks to the fact there had yet to be an incident where she had to honestly panic, she lowered her head cautiously to the grass below her, slowly begin to nibble on the crisp green shoots. She was still not fully comfortable in this environment, where she could be spotted by anyone hiding in the tree's and she wouldn't be aware of their presence, causing her to stop every moment or so and lift her head, ears alert for any sign of danger before she would allow herself to continue eating.

Dusky

The young doe wagged her tail happily. Yeah, you may Call me Dusky. She replied, her forked hooves cutting through the ever-green grass. Her black damp nose bowed, pollen growing up into her nostrils which was annoyingly ticklish. She moved her nose from side to side in anger, a huge sneeze brewing in the roof of her nose. Her mouth was opend and a strange expression swapped her normal, happy face. Any moment now she would be gifted with a shower of yellow pollen, infront of a fully grown adult. Don't don't don't please oh please i c-c-can't S-s-sneeze... She mumbled silently. It happend in seconds; the fawn had let out a large bellow, her front legs strapped together and her back legs went flying in the air whilst wet yellow flakes flew out of her nostrils. Her eyes started to water as she tryed to hold back another, but the prosess repeated several times. By the time the pollen had been removed, her nose and eyes were watering non-stop. V-very sorry Mr. Tavish sir. She meeped, her voice sounding croaky. Swallowing, Dusk bent down to the lush grass and nibbled on the tips, her front ankle working around her eyes to remove the tears. Looking up a the beautiful sceanery, she saw a forest of trees towering over them both. A watery smile wiped across her face. Are we going into there, Mr.Tavish sir? I have never been into these parts of the woods, she meeped, looking around at the thick foalige covering the ground.

Tavish steadied Dusky with his shoulder again as she was practically tossed about by her own sneezes. He couldn't help the quiet laugh that erupted from his throat.
When she asked about the trees, he quickly steered their direction another way so they were walking parallel to the forest. "No, Dusky. The forest is a dangerous place. There are foxes and wildcats there," he said softly.

Aleri raised her head, ears lifted. "Aleri," she replied, trying to sound less shy. But her voice faltered slightly, and she stomped a hind hoof in annoyance at herself.
"Nice to meet you, sir," she managed after a short while. The doe's white tail lowered so that it was straight out behind her. She eyed both Ashok and Goliath's antlers for another second, once again in awe of them.
Feigning a small cough, she looked back at Ashok levelly.

"It's good to have a companion now and then," Lilias mentioned, her short tail flicking around. The red deer picked a mouthful of grass and chewed it thoughtfully, her jaw rotating as it ground the food.
"It has been a good season, hasn't it?" she wondered aloud, turning her dark brown gaze upon the pretty white-tailed doe nearby. "I mean for all of the things that benefit us. This lovely grass, the weather, the protective trees, and anything else. And you know, I haven't seen one predator around since last winter when a roe's fawn was taken." Her voice was lowered slightly in respect at the end.

Goliath grunted as he heard a soft voice, a new voice.  Snapping his head back, he looked at the doe with his right eye.  Taking her in, he swallowed, then snorted again.  He had been distracted, and hadn't seen the arrival, how could he see it, his eye was blind.  "Hello." He said softly, still a little jumpy.

Ashok couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed by the way the doe kept gazing at their antlers, though that's not to say it didn't make him feel prideful. It was nice for it to be the other way around, instead of having bucks chase him off to impress other does of their strength and courage. The other male's reaction, however, almost surprised Ashok. It was like he was startled by the sudden new appearance of their visitor.

Well, he is blind in one eye, the young stag reasoned. He probably didn't notice her. "May I ask what one such as yourself are doing out and about in the woods this morning?" Ashok continued with the conversation, remaining polite. "We ourselves were about to head to the meadow. Perhaps all three of us could go together?"

~*~*~*~*~

"Indeed it is," Nimai agreed. "Better than being on your own all the time." As she listened to Lilias going on to explain the season, the young doe also knelt her head down for a bite of grass. She's right, the doe thought to herself, raising her head again and scanning the area as she chewed. Everything has been nice and peaceful.

At the end of her sentence, however, Nimai almost choked on the bite of grass, having trouble swallowing. She got it down, however, but when her gaze met Lilias's own once more her eyes were dimmed very slightly with sadness. "That's true..." she commented, her voice also low. She recalled the event, the picture of the devastated mother was still glued to her mind. "That's a good thing, though. But we should still remain alert. Hopefully it doesn't mean the worse will come in the future."

Nimai bent her head to get another bite of the scrumptious, sweet greenery, when movement caught her eye. "Speaking of roe's," she said aloud in mild surprise, raising her head again with perked ears. There out in the meadow, was a female roe deer (Leila). "She seems really jumpy and nervous for some reason... I wonder who she is?" Nimai wondered aloud, tilting her head slightly.

Aleri's head slid slightly to one side in a curious - but polite - manner at Goliath, who'd just greeted her. "Hey," she responded quietly. For the first time, she noticed his blind eye. Hm... That's probably why I seem to have startled him.
"Oh, the meadow. Yes, I was heading there myself."
If a doe could blush, Aleri's face would be bright pink. She felt like she was stumbling over her words, which was her custom while in the presence of others; bucks especially. The female white-tail extracted herself from the long grass she was standing in that flanked the small break in the trees they all stood in. She stepped onto some shorter vegetation and blinked as a beam of sunlight shone down into her eyes.

"I'm not sure, exactly," Lilias replied after Nimai had pointed out the female roe standing alone in the distance. "Looks fairly young, at least from here. Everyone's slightly out-of-it when they first come to the meadow anyways."
The red deer took a few steps in the direction of the lone roe before turning back to Nimai momentarily. "Let's go greet her. Maybe she'll feel more comfortable if we speak to her."
She'd begun to warm up to Nimai, as was a habit of hers after meeting others.

(Looks like an interesting RP, it's too bad it's dead though.)

Edit:
(I might remake this, when I get the time. It's unique and should be revived I say! :-] )

Anyone is free to remake it if they so choose. I'm just not on enough to keep one going anymore. ^-^"

So, let it be known to anyone who shows interest: You are free to remake this or use the idea... er, or whatever else you'd like to do. x3
