Title: Map maker troubles [RESOLVED, YOU MAY LOCK]
Post by: ghostb0rk on December 11, 2018, 07:39:32 pm
Yep, it's me with a map maker problem yet again.
Every single time I try to load a HEIGHT map onto the map maker, FH freezes and crashes. I'm unsure as of why.
I've deleted the entire FH folder and redownloaded it, with no mods added except for the preset sync, which shouldn't give any problems at all.
However, FH is fine when I upload the terrain image.
I'm unsure why I'm having this problem? I've had it for a while now...
Both images are made in GIMP, one is grayscale one is RGB. They're both png images. Size of 512 x 512.
Here are the images, just in case:

I really want to get back into making maps. I'd truly appreciate some help, thank you all so much <3

EDIT: It seems tinypic doesn't work anymore on this website. Any other suggestions?

EDIT 2: Put in an imgur link.

imgur for images works best.

did you double check the alpha layer bit?
i believe that has to be turned off/opted out of for these to open properly.

Alpha layer? I'm a bit confused at that. There's only one layer in GIMP, if that's what you mean?

Do you mean the alpha channel on GIMP? If so, it's off.

When creating a heightmap, it has to be all on one layer, not multiple. So if you have multiple layers in your heightmap, right click the top layer and there should to an option to merge it down with the layer below it. Also make sure that your heightmap's name doesn't have any spaces!

It's all one layer, the name of the map is simply "Japan.png" so there's no issues there.. I replaced the white with a value of 95 hoping that would help, but it seems to have made no difference.

If you're using opacity, that might be the problem as to why your map maker is crashing when importing your heightmap?

I found the issue! My map was 512 x 512 instead of 513 x 513. Tbh I didn't think a pixel would make a difference, but it did. Thank you both for the advice anyways! I truly appreciate it!!

Oh man I didn't catch onto that either, haha. Glad to hear that your issue is now resolved! <33
