Title: Hamilton's Massive Marking Package[1.08]
Post by: Hamilton on June 21, 2011, 08:50:11 pm: Oh look, there's some new stuff in here. I bet that link works now~

The download comes with an option so it doesn't replace any markings you might have already downloaded (slightly more complicated, it will now take into account all possible new markings.). As well, there is a uninstall folder if you change your mind later on.

Trivia~~

A Kippot is a type of hat, and a general term when referencing all types of Yarmelkes (yamakas). I.E -> a skull cap.

The Smilodon marking is based on only one artistic representation of the beast. (and honestly, the most unique at that).

Freckles 2 will make your tongue change too!

The previous download saw a whopping 649 download hits! Lets go for the all-time record high score! lolololol

@iElectricfish : This is normal. It is expected. Any and all custom markings are visible only to players who have them installed. Players who haven't installed them will see white for your character and players who have a different order will likely see a different marking than you might intend. Again, this is /normal/.

@Saon : You will have to be a little more specific than that for me to be able to help. :'\

So, the entire group has the markings downloaded but they still see my character all white where I have those markings.

Issue 1 means the .cfg file was installed improperly. Remember, it /must/ be placed in the folder titled "FeralHeart" and be allowed to replace the existing file.

Issue 2 means the game is either in preset mode (last page in creation screen) and needs to be switched to custom mode. Or the images for the markings are unable to be located by the game. Remember, the markings /must/ be placed in the folder "textures" which is inside the folder "media" which is inside "feralheart". They must also not be contained in a secondary folder. If you unzipped the package directly into the "texture" folder, you will have to drag every file out of the folder and back to where it belongs.

Also, hand in hand with issue 1, if you manually added the markings in, you may have copied the data wrong. Double check your ingame .cfg file that all the markings are there, have .png at the end of each, and that each list is separated by a blank line.

@iElectricfish :I'm inclined to one of two things here as well. 1) you have other markings installed that are listed before my set, making markings you chose from my set be lower on the list and more likely to not appear for other players. or 2) they did not install the package and are either lazy or pulling your tail. I hope it's neither :'\ Any issue where other players cannot see markings you have installed, is a fault of their doing and nothing you alter will fix it.

Oh, for everyone else that's interested. It has dawned on me that freckles2 would look nicer if the tongue was an actual marking and not just a colored tongue. I'd like opinions on this first. Leave it as is? Or change it to match the rest of the marking?

No input will mean that I won't change it and it will remain this way unless otherwise provoked by a higher power.

Highlight the first list of markings. these are between [fbody and [fhead].
Copy.
In the games file, at the bottom of the first list, hit enter so there is now 2 blank lines.
In the new line you created, paste the data you saved before.
There should be no blank line between the old and new markings and a blank line between the new markings and [fhead].
Repeat as needed for each list.

Post by: Hamilton on July 05, 2011, 02:40:15 am: The current download is not compatible with v1.07. Using the automatic install is done at one`s own risk. You can add those markings back in by manually editing your cfg file. The image files are still in the game.

There is no need for that, but I appreciate your concern. The fact is, I still have the files and there is already a fix for the autoinstall that will be active tomorrow when I have access to my computer. Coincidentally, it also includes other fixes that were in debate ssoooo...... yar. A little over 12 hours to go lololololol

Also, just thought i'd mention this too, there's a mark called eye stripe(not made by u) that got deleted and filled in with ur eye stripe mark when i downloaded it the first time.

My numbers are a little off. Fixing. The markings are compatible up to v 1.08.

To install the markings if you have a version higher than 1.08, use the manual install method. There is no other way. The auto install will not be updated any further.

The same goes if you have other custom markings installed.

To correct any previous marking overwrites, download or reinstall the full version of feralheart. (patch if only markings that came in that patch were replaced)

7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), I've noticed, is a fairly popular unzipping program.
winzip (http://www.winzip.com/win/en/index.htm) seems to have a free trial version as well. though the site navigation is a ..... :x

I have no idea what a .fhl file format is.

If the location where the original textures is the one the game is using (ie: you can still access the original markings ingame), simply move the downloaded textures to that folder.

If the location where the downloaded textures are is the one the game is using (ie: you can only access custom markings ingame), move the standard textures back to that folder.

If you truly did only what the readme told you to, there shouldn't be any issue. :\ again, there is NOTHING in my zip that creates a folder called "feralheart". the folder it creates is "mass_markings".

@???????~?uos??d?? That is completely unnecessary. The marking pack does not remove any of feralhearts default markings. The only possible way this occurs is by error of the end-user. It would be incredibly irresponsible and shallow to set it up to remove feralhearts default markings.

The only change in markings from 1.08 to 1.09 was the correction of the hellion markings. This marking pack already had that correction in it before the game did. So, yes, the automatic install will still work for 1.09.

Why does nobody read the readme file?

The image files (that's anything that ends in a png or is a black and white picture) go into the "TEXTURES" folder. You can find it in "MEDIA" which can be found in "FERALHEART".

The .cfg file (that's the file that is NOT an image file and may look like a note-pad) goes into the "FERALHEART" folder. Your computer will prompt (that means show a pop-up and ask) you to over-write and existing file. Hit the "YES" button.

Then you manually add the codes into the MARKINGS.CFG file.
