Title: How to make a preset
Post by: Rimfrost on June 18, 2011, 10:53:24 am
Another way to make a preset New
1. Open a file in photoshop or gimp, go to FeralHeart --> Media --> Textures and chose cheadShade, ctailShade, cbodyShade if you want to do a canine preset. If you want to a feline chose the fheadShade, ftailShade, fbodyShade.

2. Do a new layer and multiply (This does so you can use FH's pelt texture)

3. Color the preset as you want it to look

4. Save it in My_Preset and some of the Preset_1-10. Name it to preset_1body, preset_1head, preset_1tail. Remember, if you are putting the image file in folder 1, name it to preset_1, if you put it in folder 2 name it to preset_2 and so on. And save it as jpg file.

5. If you want marking on one side, and other markings on the other side name the right side to presetright_1body, and the left side to presetleft_1body.
Then open the materialfile in that folde. Open as notepad.

6. Now you have to change the codes, its pretty simple, just add left in end of preset, and right in the other one, save and click yes when it ask if you want to overwrite.
You doing the same with head and eyes too.
(http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/4693/namnlst2k.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/843/namnlst2k.jpg/)

7. Then simply open the game, go to Tools and Preset Maker and export your preset. After that, sign in and edit a char/or create a new. Click on IV and Use Preset.

You need photoshop or gimp, (or any other programs) if you not have these program you can download gimp for free here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ (http://www.gimp.org/downloads/)

Notice: I using photoshop elements 7.0
1. (http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/3393/47641244.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/47641244.png/)
Open a file in gimp/photoshop, go to FeralHeart --> my_presets --> reference

2. (http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/503/64939567.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/815/64939567.png/)
Open both body_legend and cbody_UV, if the preset is to a feline open fbody_UV. The body_legen file showing what who is what.

3. (http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5458/42540397.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/818/42540397.png/)
Have this to pictures beside each other, so you can look at body_legend so you know where the color/markings will land.

4. (http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/6257/24822539.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/846/24822539.png/)
Do a new layer on cbody_UV

5. (http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5799/13823627.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/233/13823627.png/)
Choose colors and start to paint over there you want have the color.

6. (http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4673/84991075.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/84991075.png/)
When you are finish its time to save it. Click on save as and save it in FeralHeart folder --> my presets and save it in someone of the preset1-preset10.
If you saving your preset in preset_1 you most name it to preset_1body (if the preset is to the body)
If the preset is to the head you name it to preset_1head, same if its to the tail or eye, preset_1eye , preset_1tail.
And dont delete the file preset_number.material

Save your preset as JPEG file.

7. (http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4783/66536970.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/37/66536970.png/)
Then open your game, go to tools and Preset Maker and click on the number the folder you saved your preset in have.
Export your preset!

8. (http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/4452/39207874.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/862/39207874.png/)
Then log in, choose the char you want to have the preset. Go to IV, click on Use Preset and choose the one you wanna have. Then just click on OK

Now you have a preset :)

Do you have to do the layer? And I used GIMP and it's not working...
Title: Re: How to make a preset
Post by: Scarletrider on July 14, 2011, 06:40:01 am
Doing the new layer makes it easier. So if you have to erase, you don't erase the mesh. Also, there's a way you can do it to see the mesh through the paint. For photoshop, you set your layer to multiply. Then when you're finished, you can go back to the background layer and just erase the mesh. I have a separate question for anyone who would know. I decided to try and create a preset tonight, and Colored one in photoshop. The only problem is, I have preset 1 and 2 filled with presets I'm assuming are default in the game, so I put it in preset 3. But none of my presets are showing up. I saved them all as .jpg files and changed the name from "pinstripehead, pinstripeeye, etc" to "preset_3head, preset_3eye, etc" and I'm a bit confused. Can anyone guide me from here? I'm on a macintosh if that makes any difference. I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

Do you know how to make presets that are not the same on both sides? I really want to make a phantom of the opera preset but the mask is only supposed to go on the right side.

Wen u click the Export button, log in and wen one of ur characters appear on the podium click the Create button, go to the last tab and click the button Use Preset, then the preset u exported will be there. Thats wat it basically does puts it up in the log in preset maker so u can use it while playing the game.

Uuuh... I haz a question... :o

What if you are very busy and you already used all 10 preset slots? I already tried adding extra folder (ex:  preset_11) with coding and everything, but that dun work. :( lol

Uh, I think you have to export the presets or delete them if you dun like 'em and then make room for more, but not 100% sure. :S

Thanks if you take the time to answer, and thanks anyway if you don't answer too. :)

Thanks,
~Jay

You can export them then delete the stuff in that folder to make a new one. Your exported preset can be used if u put it in the Presets folder so it wouldnt be lost forever.

Since the preset with, it looks like no fur texture, what do you do to get the texture on it? This part confuses me.

This is a great tutorial, you did a good job on it!

You probably can use Paint though i dont think you can use layers.

I personally would go with GIMP for the moment since its free, heres the link

http://www.gimp.org/ (http://www.gimp.org/)

Since the preset with, it looks like no fur texture, what do you do to get the texture on it? This part confuses me.

I personally didnt need to save it as headShade.jpg or watever, without the Shade should be fine if you havent changed the material file around

This is a great tutorial, you did a good job on it!

You can colour underneath or above either way is fine. When you save it a box should appear saying it cant handle the jpg or something, simply click Export then Load Defaults when the saving box thing appears.

Well theres a link here to making a transparent preset, it comes with a code.

You upload the preset to a file-sharing site, like Mediafire and put the download up so that they get it.

In the material file, make sure the ''preset_3eye.jpg" is written. Mention the file extensions, it might be 'png' by default

Tinkallakee, you will have to load your preset in Preset Maker then click the button Export.
With it exported go to your Feralheart folder and go to "presets" not my_presets.
Your exported file should be your "[username][presetnumber].fhp" for me it would be Ingredient8.fhp, understand?
Now take that file and upload it to Mediafire or something.
Then give your friends the download link so they can place the file in their presets folder.

You can use Paint but it makes preset making a whole lot harder. GIMP (free to use) would be a much better program to make presets with.

If you've made a preset, and you want others to be able to download it, and use it themselves, you put the whole preset for download.
If you want others to see you using it, but not use it themselves, then export it, and upload the .fhp file, which is found in feralheart>presets. It'll be called whatyouruseris_presetnumber.fhp. Upload that one

I have a question. I've did everything correctly and saved my preset in one of the preset folders 1-10. However, when I go on FeralHeart and go to Preset Maker, my preset won't show up when I click on the number of the folder I saved my preset in. For example: I saved my preset in preset_9, but when I went to Preset Maker and clicked on Preset 9, nothing showed up. (I use GIMP 2 by the way)

Do we save the tail as Preset_12body.jpg or Preset_12tail.jpg?
If you are saving a tail for a preset you save it as preset_12tail.jpg
Tail isn't part of the body model, it's it own mesh.
