Message Notification

Hey there!
So I was thinking when someone gets a message on the forums there'll be a pop-up [small] saying something along the lines of
"You have [1] New Message!
Let's cross our paws and hope it's something good!"

Or just something cute like that. I often don't see i have a new message until hours or a day or two later because there wasn't something that told me straight out.
I understand it says "My Messages [1]" or however many you have but it's stealthy so it often goes unnoticed.


Sorry if this has already been brought up. I tried to look around to see if it has been brought up before and i haven't seen anything of it. ;w;

I somewhat agree.
Having actual message notifications- sounds or a popup message; would make members more alert and notified of the new messages in their inbox. What we currently have, is rather small and sometimes even I don't see it and continue obliviously browsing the forums. However, I also understand that sometimes it may become annoying to get a sudden popup/sound, and some people prefer it how it is currently.
I'd like to think that, if anything could be done, I'd love to see the font colour change if possible- say a new message comes in, why not have an eye-catching colour implemented to really make us users spot it? Would be neat, but I understand it'll probably not happen or work out as well as I might think.

If they become annoyed by it they can disable it and go back to how it is now [stealthy] C:
Maybe somewhere in the profile they can have the option of changing it themselves weather they want the notification pop-up on new messages or not.

I understand not everything can work out. Just thought I'd bring this up just in case.

You can actually already do something like this

Just go onto your profile and edit it
Click this button


And then click "Personal Messaging"


After that, click "Show a popup when I receive messages"
and every time you get a message you should get an on screen popup!

Didn't even know we had that. I'm so use to already having pop-ups right off the bat than the other way around. Slipped my mind!

Guess this can be locked now since it's a useless thread since we have it XD

I will go ahead and lock this.

The message pop-up feature is really handy. Especially if you use the forums  a lot throughout the day. I use it myself. It is an instant notification that you have received a message. In Chrome the taskbar icon also blinks which is quite nice.
