Year 2,034: "I promise," Joel lied, staring into Ellie's deep green eyes. Ellie pulled back for a moment and quarreled if he was telling the truth- no. He had to be. This was Joel she was talking about, he wouldn't lie to her. After a moment, she sighed, "Alright." and began to pad forward, eyebrows furrowed. She began to think about all they had been through that year and past. The thought of being chopped up into pieces made her shudder and try to shake the thought off her mind. While she pondered, Joel on the other hand were thinking about more important things: Food, water, medicine. He was running oddly low on supplies due to the unbearable heated atmosphere. While he was deep in thought, his ragged and torn bluejeans caught on a branch and pulled him on his rear end. Ellie's head was lowered and she was staring at her feet. Once she heard the thud, she gasped and looked up before she burst out laughing but halted herself when he grunted and failed trying to stand up. "Pff, ha! Are you alright?" Joel rolled his eyes and removed the branch from his pant leg, grunting as he put a hand on his knee and stood up. "Yeah," he groaned, a cough following along. "I'm fine." Ellie sniffed and rubbed her eye with her sleeve, slowly tracking along behind Joel. Although Tommy could lend him the supplies, he'd already taken enough and didn't want to be babied; Ellie's footsteps got louder as she approached him vigorously. "So,"she yawned, catching up with speed beside Joel. "Where 're we going today?" she continued, rubbing her nose. His head turned the direction to Ellie and sighed. "Find supplies," Joel said, looking around. "...'s gonna be like this for awhile, huh?" "..We'll see." He grinned, carrying on.

PLOT
Ellie and Joel's main quest is to scavenge for supplies before they head off to find more children like Ellie, bringing them back to the Militia while they heal them. In this quest, they venture out and their bond strengthens as Joel takes in Ellie like one of his own. Ellie begins to see Joel like a father now, slowly opening up to him. All-The-While, Militia try to search for a cure for the infected. Their idea to get the vaccine in them is by sleep darting them and strapping them into a bed, returning them to their former selves.

History: Emilia wa born into this world, she grew up never knowing what it was like before the infestation. This world was all she knew,it was killed or be killed in her mind. Her mother, Diane, tried to keep her safe from the the infected and from the military. She had never been outside the wall until a few months ago, when she got bit. Emilia was sure it was a death sentence, so she went back to her mother to say goodbye. When she revealed the wound her mother went nuts. She screamed at Emilia, asking why she had to go outside, she said she should have stayed within the wall, where it was safe. Emilia couldn't have said anything to make her mother happy. Emilia waited for the symptoms, but they never came, her mother was just as surprised as she was. Soon came the day when the military came in and checked the people living within the walls, checking for the infection. Emilia didn't know the alarm would go ff once it was her turn, she thought her body fought it off, but it turn out it was just living within her. They took her away from her mother, Emilia can still easily remember the look on her mom's face, sorrow and anger. Her mother tried to stop them, she attacked them. then boom. Her mother fell to the ground, motionless..lifeless. She had been killed. Emilia knew there was nothing she could do, she grew up knowing that there was no hope for anything.
Emilia let them take her away, she didn't know what they would do to her, maybe they were going to execute her, Maybe they were going to test on her body. She didn't know nor did she care, all she cared about was getting away from them. She heard them talking about her, wondering why she hadn't turned. Lucky for her they never put the cuffs on her, they just held her arms. Her escape was quick and easy, most of them were confused by the time she made it into the secret tunnel that led to the outside. Now she roams the country, trying to find others that are like her.
Mental Disabilities: Emilia is claustrophobic and has Over Compulsive Disorder. If she is in a tight space or in a crowd she could possibly pass out or get sick. Her OCD can also be pretty bad but she can control it better.
Physical Disabilities: Emilia broke her leg about a year ago and it didn't heal properly, so now she walks with a limp and isn't as fast as she used to be.
Flaws: Emilia is scared of the dark, yes she is afraid of the dark. She has always been afraid of the dark, she doesn't know why. She is also
Battle Scars: She has a scar on her cheek from a tangle with another survivor who wanted her food, the woman scratched her face with a pocketknife She also has a scar on her left calf from a runner who bit her a few months ago.

Joel looked around the maze-like headquarters of the Militia; Tommy seemed not to be around. Shrugging, he carried on toward the trail slowly. He looked back at Ellie and smiled, looking forward he continued to trek down the trail. "'Bout ..three miles away, better tell me now if you're hungry so we can get a move on or you could have one of these apples," Joel said, not turning around to receive her answer. Stopping beside a log, he set his backpack down and bandaged a bloody cut that was seeping into his sock. His back was arched and anyone could tell easily that it was giving him a bit of trouble where he fell from a tree a few days ago. Joel inhaled with a quiet snort and rubbed his mustache before he fiddled through his sack more. In realization that he had a sack 'full' of ammo, his eyes wound with shock though he forced himself not to show it. That -Removed by Moderator- Bill put that in there, God. Should've told me, he mumbled under his breath, quickly reloading his rifle and his shotgun. Finding one of Ellie's comic books in a pocket deep in his backpack, he looked up at her and set it on the log. "Hey, Ellie, I think I've found one of those comics you've been readin'."

Following Joel around, Ellie fiddled with her fingers, she ran a hand through her hair and shifted her backpack. Ellie then glanced over to where Joel had sat down on a log and huffed. "I'm not hungry." Sitting, the teenager rubbed her eyes and yawned, she looked around, then began to shuffle through her backpack. Hearing Joel talk about a comic, she quickly glanced up and yawned once more, "Oh, what?" "Really?" Holding a hand out to grab it, Ellie flipped through the pages and chuckled. "Not gonna really read it now."

Joel raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Alright," then slid his backpack on once more and trekked down the trail once more. Coughing, he ran a hand on his face to remove the sweat on his brow. Stopping at the gate, he raised his voice at,"Hey, can anyone open the gate for us?" and banged his fist against it loudly to get attention. Finally, a voice replied with, "Coming," and sure enough the male finally opened the gate after a good two minutes. Sighing, he walked in while pausing to pat the Militia dog's head. It responded by licking his hand and Joel gave one of his sincere half smiles. Looking back at Ellie, "Hey, uh, I was wondering: Maybe we'd go on a real hike sometime? ..Like I did with Sarah."

"Didn't I say we could do whatever after that whole firefly thing?" Pausing briefly, Ellie kicked at some dirt and looked down at the dog, she than looked back up at Joel an sighed, "Meaning, sure." Scratching her arm, Ellie rolled up her sleeve and looked at the bite wound, she shivered, pulled her sleeve back down, and continued to walk. "Soo..." Ellie wasn't sure what to talk about, she rubbed the back of her neck and gave a half cough.

Joel paused and frowned for a moment but continued on walking silently. Hearing a stomach grumble, he looked back and asked, "Was that you?" A creak from the metal door he opened interrupted his silence and held it open for Ellie. Coughing, he returned her questioning 'so'. "You need to eat, you haven't eaten a bite since last night and it's already past one o'clock," Joel walked into the cafeteria. Grabbing the nearest tray, he scooped mash potatoes silently. Once his plate was filled with all sorts of food-- peas, mashed potatoes, turkey and a water -- he sat down at a table with a few people around him and began to think about Ellie's attitude lately; he wasn't that fond of the way she was acting.

"Fine." Ellie grabbed a tray, she gathered some food on it, ate, then leaned back in a chair. Sighing, she looked over to Joel and then the other people around her. Not comfortable to bring up a topic, she motioned to Joel, wondering if they could move tables. "Joel, I need to talk to you."

Joel looked at Ellie and gave her a quick nod, standing up and walking to another table with his plate in hand. Sitting down, he adjusted to another seat and awkwardly glanced at Ellie. Grunting, he wiped his forehead and looked at her again. "Ellie, what's wrong?" he said in a serious tone, raising his eyebrow curiously before looking her into the eyes.

"I'm still... unsure." Ellie turned to where her back was facing Joel, she seemed to glance around, then turned back around. "Are you sure what you said about the fireflies is true?" "That they..." Ellie stopped her sentence, she seemed to fiddle with her fingers again, her voice got low. "Are you sure they've stopped looking for a cure?" "Wouldn't Marlene have told you about the others that are immune?" Ellie felt unsure of what she was asking, honestly, she didn't really expect Joel to answer. "You would tell me the truth, right?"

Joel paused for a moment and stare on his plate. The only time he'd had a conversation like this was with Sarah; he'd barely managed to communicate. "Ellie," he said, continuously staring at the table. "I don't know if they've stopped looking." he barely managed to say, turning his head where he was staring at her from behind. "Of course I'd tell you the truth, it's just I didn't want you to know. But the only thing I do know: I wouldn't let them hurt you." Joel said firmly, half expecting her to say something again and grunted.

Wiping a grease-slicked hand across his brow, Tommy walked within the walls of the cafeteria. Many people aligned the tables, each with their trays piled with food in front of them. "What the hell...?" he muttered, as his eyes caught two very familiar silhouettes conversing with one another. The thought of grabbing a meal slipped from his mind as he quickly approached them. "Joel? Ellie? What the hell are you two doing here?" Tommy questioned. "Last I knew, you were heading to the Fireflies to drop that kid off. What happened?" The concern was strong within his voice, taking a seat beside them and looking directly at Ellie. He hoped for a valid answer, shifting his gaze towards the others within the room to release pressure from the two.

"Meh" Looking to Tommy, Ellie yawned and rested on her elbows, she then glanced to Joel, "Ask him, his decision, and a story too, I guess." Shrugging, the girl rubbed her eyes and twisted her body. She grabbed her bag, then began to shuffle through it. Once finding the comic that Joel had found, she picked it up and began reading it, chuckling at some of the pages. "Maan, another 'To be continued'." "Psh" Flinging the comic back into her bag, Ellie sighed and rolled her eyes. "Cliffhangers."

Joel looked over his shoulder to reply to Tommy, a serious look on his face; although it didn't take away the bitter sadness in his eyes. He'd lied to Ellie- and to make matters worse, twice! Giving his little brother the 'I'll explain later,' glance, he sighed and turned around to face her. "I'll be right back. Try and stay out of trouble, will you?" Joel responded to a few seconds of silence, walking out of the cafeteria and beckoning Tommy to follow. Making his way throughout the maze-like walls of the camp, he finally ended up in a place where it wasn't crowded with horses or people chatting. "Tommy, they were going to kill Ellie and make a vaccine to cure the infected and wounded," Joel said bitterly, not looking in his little brother's eyes. After a moment of silence, he looked into his eyes and responded with, "I killed Marlene to save her."he spluttered, a cough following along as he turned around and looked away. Shaking his head, he spluttered again and stood on the edge of a risen story. "I've already lost my Sarah; I'm not going to lose Ellie."

"Yah, yah" Ellie's voiced cracked, she watched as Joel and Tommy walked off, and began to shuffle through her bag again. She had wondered where they went off to, but like Joel said, 'stay out of trouble.' Mumbling, Ellie rested on her left hand, and tapped the table with the right,"Stay out of trouble, blah." (Short)

Tommy followed Joel out of the room, listening carefully to the words he said, shaking his head with subtle disappointment. "Somethin' tells me you've told Ellie otherwise...? There's another story to this, I'm sure of it." Tommy said, looking deep into his big brother's eyes. "And isn't a vaccine what everyone was hopin' for? She's just a girl, Joel. One life lost to save many, that ain't too much to ask now is it?" Peering back into the cafeteria, he watched Ellie carefully, a slight grunt escaping his mouth as he looked across the other tables. "Don't tell me you've killed off the Fireflies, too." Tommy's voice raised slightly, choked with a bit of irritation as he awaited a response from his big brother. /--short.

Joel frowned a gripped the railing tighter and his knuckles began to get ghostly white. 'One life lost to save many, that ain't too much to ask now is it?' His face went white and it felt like his breath exploded out of his lungs like a balloon. Letting the railing go, he sneered and grabbed his little brother by his shirt. "Tommy, is it too much when I've lost my God Damned daughter?" he whispered, holding his face close to his. He let go of his collar and spat at the ground, turning his back to him. Breathing in slowly, he slammed his fist against the barred railing and turned around, eyes aligned. "I haven't told Ellie I have killed Marlene, no. I don't care if the whole world was counting on this girl's survival, she's basically my daughter. You wouldn't have let this happened to Sarah.." he said under his breath, voice rising so he was audible. "Ellie wouldn't want to die, and I'm sure of it." Joel spit once more, this time over the edge. Frowning, he looked into his little brother's eyes. "This.. 'girl' means everything to me. If you can't respect that, then we'll be on our way," he said in a growl, breathing deeply. "The fireflies ain't what they say they are." Joel grabbed Tommy's collar once more, this time a lot firmer. "You ain't got the slightest clue what it's like to loose someone," Joel spluttered, chest heaving with every breath.

Tommy knew this was coming, facing the anger his brother had towards him. "Dammit, Joel," he spluttered as he was grabbed hold of by Joel. The impacted pull nearly caused his footing to slip, as his eyes met with his brother's. Such anger and fury Tommy saw, narrowing his own eyes. "How a'bout loosing the big brother I once knew, huh? My brother would do anything to help those around him... No, no. You only choose to help her. Remember back at the plant? You said that it was for my damn cause to deliver that girl. My and everyone else's damn cause." he forced, continuing on. "You know she's not your daughter, and knowing you, I know you don't have the GUTS to replace Sarah with an infected girl." Tommy knew he was going too far, but still pushed on. "And what do you think'll happen when Ellie finds out about the truth, huh? What the hell do you think's gonna happen?" He shut his eyes, panting a bit. He knew he had no say about the Fireflies, so remained silent on that subject. His thoughts were focused mainly on Ellie, and Joel's relationship towards her as his daughter. It troubled him dearly.

Glancing over to the conversation, Ellie could see Joel and Tommy. Overhearing a bit of the conversation, Ellie began to gain anger. "Joel lied to me?" Mumbling to herself, Ellie stood up and grabbed her bag, she began to storm over to Joel and Tommy and threw her arms down. Glaring up at Joel, you could see the anger in her, swelling up. Extremely furious, Ellie took a deep breath before she began to yell. "What the heck Joel?!" "You lied to me.." "I thought I could trust you, you out of all people!" "Is there ANYTHING else you're hiding from me that you would like to share?" Throwing her arms up now, Ellie's fists where clenched tightly, her face somewhat red. She didn't include the part about his feelings, she was too angry to do so.

His face turned white as if all of the blood in his body seeped away. Giving Tommy the "look what you've done" glance, he sneered and his attention focused on Ellie. "Ellie, I-" Joel was cut off and his face dropped. As she kept going on about him lying, etc, his face regained as he attempted to raise his voice over her. "Ellie, if it wasn't for me you'd be DEAD by now! You- You CAN trust me, Ellie. Marlene was behind it- she- She wanted you to die!" he roared, sweat seeping down his neck. Joel's face flushed white and he had nothing more to say; there wasn't anything he could say. All he could tell her was that he was sorry, and so he did: "Ellie, I- I'm sorry," he spluttered, frown disappearing as he looked over to Tommy and sighed.

Seeing Ellie approach them caused Tommy to tense up. 'She overheard us?' he thought. He watched the two argue about this situation, and came to the point where he couldn't take it any longer. "Just like I said, big brother..." he frowned, looking towards the dusted and dirtied floor of the room. He could hear the anger in Ellie's voice, and how sorry Joel's been sounding. "Dammit...""Ellie. Joel has his reasons for lyin' to you," Tommy said gently, looking towards Joel for approval. Kneeling down to eye level with Ellie, he sighed. "If you'd just let him explain more so..." he paused, expecting Ellie to cut him off mid-sentence. Standing up, he rested his hand on Joel's shoulder, giving him a firm tug before leaving the room, giving the two some privacy for their discussion or argument.

"Joel, I don't want to hear it." Speechless, Ellie shut her eyes, clenched her fists tighter, and looked down. 'Marlene wanted to kill me?' Filled with dismay, Ellie grunted and looked back up, she wasn't going to cry, no, but she was hurt. "Is there ANYTHING else you want to tell me now?" Letting out a large exhale, Ellie's breaths cracked and she seemed to give out a small, edgy cough as Tommy spoke, then left the room.

Joel sighed after Tommy's firm grip released on him and looked at Ellie. Pausing, he opened his mouth before he was cut off again by Ellie. After seeing her run off, he sighed and rubbed his forehead; he was hurt too. After a moment, he followed her into the room she was in. Joel grunted before he slowly walked in, stepping backward as he saw her face. "Ellie? I'm-" He cut himself off and paused briefly, staring at his dusty boots. After a moment, he looked up at her and sighed. "If you need me, just give me a call or you'll know where to find me," Joel said, turning around to face the door and walked off to the stables quickly.

Tommy found himself having a bit more trouble with this than Joel may be. He didn't expect Ellie to overhear their conversation, or even her letting that rage out on Joel. Guilt grew on him. A muffled sigh escaped from him as he made his way to the stables, hoping everything would work out between that girl and his big brother. That thought was lost as he saw Joel where he was. "So..""How'd it go..?" Tommy sighed, looking at his brother's expression. He could see the sorrow within Joel's face, looking away towards the stablemen running the area. "Look. I'm sorry for this to happen," he said, raising a hand to his forehead. "You'd think she'd say something about all the pretty things you've said about her. She's mad, I can tell for sure," Looking back at Joel, he leaned up against a wall. "How do you think you're gonna fix this?"

Joel approached Tommy and sighed. He raised a hand to wipe the sweat off his brow and looked at Tommy. "I know she's furious," he replied, voice firm but vocals cracking every now and then. "No, it's not your fault, Tommy. It's mine; I shouldn't have let that girl get so attached to me. You were right," he spluttered, a cough following along to make it look like his throat was dry, not about to cry. Huffing, he exhaled and patted a horse's neck. Replying with, "We'll just see how the rest of the day goes, I need to give her some time. She's just...upset, that's all." Scooping up feed, he drained it into a trough and wiped his face again. "...Tess was right. She said Ellie would end up like this.." Recalling a flashback of her words, he gulped and accepted her words in his mind: She's no help, you know. All that girl will do will drag along and force us to go slower. That 'girl' is useful, Tess. Leave her be. ..Fine, don't say I didn't warn you. Joel's mind hit him like a strike of lightning; what was he talking about? This was Ellie. That Ellie that'd saved his life twice. A serious expression flooded his face as he whirled around automatically and proceeded to the storage room which he thought she was in.

Ellie, sitting in the storage room, grunted. How could h--" Before finishing her sentence, Ellie heard a clicking sound. As she turned around, Ellie was pinned by a clicker, she managed to stand, reaching for a shiv out of her bag, Ellie gulped and felt the air behind her. -Removed by Moderator-. Her bag was where she yelled at Joel. Tossing the clicker off a bit, Ellie ran for the door but was grabbed, she then inhaled, then screamed, "Get off me!"

(Oh man, That game will stay with me for a while. I played it once already and I am half way through playing it again. Sad but a amazing game. I just wanted to point something out though? 13... Ugh I dunno about you guys or how old you are or if you played the game on a console but 13 is really low age, since it is a 18 year old game. I am not sure on what the mods will think about swearing on the forum, even though it has a-lot in the game but I don't want anybody to get in trouble, if you get my way?)

Stopping mid-walk, he turned around and flashed Tommy one of his signature half smiles. Joel turned around, proceeding to the storage room in a steady gait. He stopped to kick the dirt off his boots and paused briefly before continuing to the balcony where it all started. Noticing Ellie's backpack and its contents sprawled across the metal floor, he eyed it and filled it up once more with its items. As he turned around to walk off with the backpack in hand, he saw one of her comics wedged under a brick with a few papers torn. Joel bent down to pick it up and quickly placed the pages back in order. After a moment of silence, he looked up into the fire painted sky and sighed. If Ellie was there he would've told her all about how he used to sit out on his porch with Sarah and gaze into the skies. With a sniff, he coughed and washed that memory from his mind as he picked up her backpack once more. Joel proceeded to the storage room which he planned to go to without a halt. Smiling lazily, he approached the storage room, door wide open. Get off me, -Removed by Moderator-! Joel's eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat. "No, Ellie.." he breathed, grabbing his shotgun- which was filled with ammo- and called her name continuously. "Ellie!" he yelled, waiting for a response as he ran through the halls of the plant which seemed more maze-like ever before. "Ellie!!" (Extra long in apology for my inactivity.)

Having not a moment to respond to Joel's words, Tommy watched as he whirled away towards the storage room. The faint whinny of a mare kept in the stables caught his attention, Tommy slowly stroking the horse near towards her neck and head as he whispered gentle words to it, watching as the stablemen cared for the other horses held captive. Joel's previous actions encountered before triggered the thought that maybe he had figured out a solution, that perhaps things will be alright with him and Ellie. Leaning against the wall once more, Tommy pulled a cigar from his jacket, lighting it hesitantly as the mare's ears perked slightly as if there was some sense of danger lurking. It was only then when he heard the faint yelling of Joel within the hallways, Ellie!. "Dammit, what the hell is going on now..?" he grunted, pulling out his rifle from where he kept strapped to his back. "Stay there, we might be under attack again," Tommy said, looking back at the stablemen who have yielded their working, most having their hand guns pulled out at the ready.

"Joel!" Ellie managed to scramble a few feet away from the infected, as soon as she found herself in a corner, she heard a groan, than something that sounded like a yell. Looking to an open doorway, a runner entered and ran towards her. Grabbing some stuff off shelves, Ellie threw it at the clicker and runner. Inhaling deeply, Ellie was thinking of what she could do, suddenly, she remembered, there was a shiv in her shoe. Quickly reaching down, Ellie managed to lodge the shiv in the clicker's head before it attacked her. Attempting to grab the shiv out of the infected's head, it snapped and broke itself. "Ugh." Looking back up at the stumbling runner, Ellie moved one of the roll-able shelves at it and trapped herself behind one of the bars. "Joel! Get in here!"

Joel continued running, the sound of infected light but audible. Joel, get in here!he heard, fear on his face as he tried to scout the place and where she was. Managing to get to the hallway that lead to her location, he banged on a door unsure of which it was. A raspy sound was heard from behind him: Joel whirled around and found a runner hurling himself at him. Barely managing time, the runner grabbed his shoulders and tried to attack. Nearly catapulting it backwards, he grabbed his shotgun and pulled the trigger, aiming for its head. Joel paused, just standing there. What had happened to his life? Why'd Sarah die? Was this for some.. reason? Frowning, he shook his head. :Ellie, where are you!?" he yelled, throat beginning to get scratchy. "Ellie!" he yelled, continuing to look in the doors. Finally, ran in the room she was in and began to understand why she called him: She was lodged behind a shelf. Pulling the trigger, the clicker fell back and lay lifeless across the floor.
