I'm trying to make a map for the pack I'm in, but every time I try to use an alpha map, this happens:

I tried deleting the game + files and re-installing FH, but it still turns black. I've tried all the terrain textures that are available, but they all turn-up black. Please help!

Try changing rendering systems and see if that helps

I'm quite new to this, how exactly would I change rendering systems?

the mask looks a little off from where i'm seeing it. perhaps you deleted the default color mask on accident?
edit: i'm looking into it since i just woke up a little more (it's a bit early in the morning for me) lol.
when you go into map maker, do you mess with terrain texture & 1; 2, and three?

Yes, I tried all 3. Still turns up black.

Did you make sure while creating the Terrain Mask that you used RGB colors respectively? They must be at their extreme, or else it won't work. For example, the Red on the map must have the color code R: 255, G:0 B:0. You may also only use the colors Red, Green, and Blue to mark out terrain.

At one point before the update it worked, but even in the old FH it just randomly stopped working. I was hoping after downloading the update it would start working again, but no. Yes, all the colors are extreme. The size is right, as far as I know everything is just fine.

I tried changing rendering systems, but there's no 'OpenGL Rendering Subsystem' option anymore.
I opened the ogre.cfg file and replaced 'Direct3D9' with 'OpenGL' and FH just crashed or changed it back to 'Direct3D9'.
Am I doing something wrong?

Ye can change y'er rendering system using the in-game options instead of the white set up box.
As f'er the mask, are ye sure y'er entering the file name correctly? Also, be sure not to use spaces in y'er file names, or else the file won't work.
