Problem with dowloading maps- please help!

Hey, Amber here! I'm relatively new to FeralHeart, so I may be doing something completely wrong, but it would seem as if I'm having trouble with custom maps.

I download a map- and I've done this three times now-, and since I'm using Google Chrome, the file shows up at the bottom of the screen in a little white bar. I click on it to open it, but when I do, it only comes up with a message:

"Windows can't open this file.

To open this file, Windows need to know what program you want to use to open it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs that are installed on your computer."

When I select the automatic option, it only comes up with a tab with very little info on the file, and nothing that helps solve my problem. When I try to do it manually... I've no idea what program to use. xD

I was wondering; am I doing this right? Is that supposed to come up, or is something else supposed to happen? I just found this really awesome-looking map, and I desperately want to download it. Please help?

.fhm files are not supposed to be opened by any programs. Once you download them, merely place them into the exports folder in C:\FeralHeart\exports.
Once you have done that, you can travel to the Cape of Distant Worlds in FeralHeart for access to the map.

You may also need this x3 It opens the files when you download them so specific files such as .mp3 and sky files can be placed in the correct folders. http://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0

Well, that would be what I was missing, Bloo. Thanks. :3 But... you have to buy it? o.o I don't really want that.

Ruby: That's just the thing, though. I don't know where they are after I download them.

Well I suggest you go back and re-download it again and this time set it to a place you will remember. Once your downloaded ZIP file is In your computer, you take everything out and place it in your Local (C:) drive and there should be a Feral Heart folder there

NOTE: If you cant find your Feral Heart folder then go to Open>Search>and set it up to search in Local (C:) drive and type in Feral Heart. your Feral Heart should be in that drive.

After that, open up your downloaded file and place all the stuff in there needed folders

No, I can find the FeralHeart folder, it's just that it doesn't ask me where to download it to.

I click the "Download" button and a file shows up in that little white bar at the bottom of the browser. The one I'm trying to install, TEOW, pops up in the bar. I can't find it anywhere on my computer when I search for it, and when I click on the icon in the bar, it just opens up that message that I typed up in the first post.

Oh darlin, you don't really have to buy it haha. Download the 40 day trial and you can use it forever. Once the trial is over, everytime you open something with WinRAR a small box will pop up, just click the 'x' to close it. I've been using winRAR for years. Once you have WinRAR, after you download the map and see the white box at the bottom, just click it and winRAR will automatically open it. If not, then when the other window pops up hit "Choose from installed programs" and find WinRAR.
