Game Discussion / Any ideas on the party chat hint given?
« on: July 16, 2019, 01:30:19 am »
So I just got to see the new update and eeeeeeee I'm so happy and proud of what's been added in. One thing that's got my interest though is the new "Activities" section in the party tab.

One "theory" of mine is this could be for quests or something similar to Impressive Title's gameplay, and perhaps that's either what Feral-Heart was supposed to be, but was never finished, or this is the direction staff is deciding to take.

I used to be fairly opposed to the idea, but I'm actually starting to like it in some ways, or at least, I'm not going to be upset over whichever option they decide to go with.

So what's everyone's idea? Sorry if this has already been asked, but I searched it up and didn't see anything so far, at least, nothing directly about this unless I didn't see.

So this is more of a question than maybe suggestion, but since so many people, including myself honestly, want some kind of new animal, the question is, which would be first, if any? This is a question of what people want to see first rather than what they think they'll see first.

I wouldn't blame staff if they felt the animals already given are enough, take too much time, or would break the feel, but it also wouldn't shock me by any means if it's been discussed already because of the amount of people who want some kind of new species to play as.

These things would take time to model, animate/rig, and texture, and can't be done in just a day, so which one would be top priority?

Thank you for reading and any input. If staff needs to move this because it might seem off topic, I understand, but I thought this would be hopefully the most fitting. ^v^

Got them, this can be locked/deleted now.

Game Discussion / Assigning Areas In Maps
« on: May 31, 2019, 08:15:29 am »
So, many others and myself have noticed that people tend to spend most of their time in the grounds for chat, advertising, everything, and tend to go to custom maps for roleplays. I thought maybe some people could take some iconic areas and make them represent places we used to have in the old maps.

This probably doesn't make much sense, but let me explain; Bonfire Island had certain locations you just went to for what you were doing, like Adoption Centers being close to the Ficho Tunnel portal and Mate Centers being in the middle area of the map. Fluorite Plains had many advertisers at "Stone Bridge" too.

My point is, certain areas just had certain people and purposes. Would some players be willing to get together and ask other players to do certain things in certain maps/places in those maps? I feel it'd be a lot better to separate those groups of people again, like Ficho having those creepypasta fans and people from fandoms being very talkative, Bonfire being where you went for a family in a short term pack, Fluorite being the place to advertise and raise that tiny family, etc?

I know my examples may sound stupid, but it really gave an interesting feel to the whole world. The idea I had is to ask people on certain days to go to certain spots, too, so that more learned about them. Like on Fridays, we'd head to the waterfalls in Cherika Valley, on Tuesdays it's the big middle pond in Ficho Tunnels, and we see who stays where the most?

I'm sorry if this sounds scattered, but I'd like to try this since players just don't go to maps like they used to. The new maps are so amazing, but seem to not get much love. If anyone would like to plan something like this, I'd be up to put times and locations in my signature.

Thank ye for readin'.

Screenshots / At 4 in the morning

Usernames have been blurred, regardless if they were involved or not. I don't mean anything against anyone, this just came up so I documented it's beauty, but if staff feels this needs to be taken down, feel free. I also recommend playing Undertale's Dogsong while looking. Meanwhile, in The Grounds...

these guys came

they look so happy

but they grew

and moved

remember kids: if you log in FH in the middle of the night, you too can become a floof.

I followed these guys for half an hour I swear I don't know why I found this funny I just did

Game Discussion / How do you deal with maps' edges?
« on: May 27, 2019, 10:00:40 am »
Lately, I've been wanting to make nature based maps for roleplayers who need certain areas that the normal Feral-Heart maps don't offer, or no one else has done, or done in a style that's easy on the CPU, but there's a problem I'm facing that I'm curious to see how others handle; how do you deal with the ends of your maps?

Do you just make the terrain a lot higher? Do you place objects around? Do you make everything an island? How often do you use the backdrops, and how do you make them look natural?

Thank ye for any feedback!

Game Help / Model of map/area into mesh?
« on: April 05, 2019, 08:16:29 am »
I haven't messed with Feral-Heart models and such for a while, and I've tried this before, but I've never liked trying to get models and meshes to work. I'm doing good to get blender open. However, I've wondered if it's possible to take a model of a map or area, convert it into a mesh, and use it as a map?

It's a bit hard to explain but let's say you wanted... Snowdin from Undertale, or The Glen from OneShot, to be a map in Feral-Heart. Find a (for these two examples, a 3D fanmade) model of the area, and then convert it and use it as a mesh for the entire/most of the map.

If collisions didn't work, you could put in invisible floors and walls, so that'd be the least of concerns.

Sorry if this isn't really in the right section. It's more of a "can you do it" than a "my game broke" kinda thing, but I thank you for reading despite this.

If it's possible, a picture or even video tutorial for someone who has problems with this kinda thing would be appreciated.

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Community's Thoughts On Registration
« on: May 20, 2018, 01:08:33 am »
A while back, I made a poll asking what people thought should be done with registration. About half the people thought there should be a certain date, and the runner up option was keeping it up 24/7. Only about 17% voted to keep it like it was, and even though keeping it open during later hours was the least voted option, that still means a good portion of people thought it should be changed one way or another.

Though I didn't handle the situation in the best way, I still think myself there should be a certain date, even if it wasn't as often, at least people would know when they could sign up.

However, I'm not looking to directly address what should or shouldn't be done, but rather why staff hasn't changed anything despite the community's thoughts? I'm not looking to argue with anyone by any means, I'd just like to know how staff is taking the disapproval of the players and how the players feel about registration still not being changed.

I understand server flooding and lag, but many people complain about the lack of new members, and I can say I've seen people not want to join because of this, or at least lose interest.

Thank you for reading. Again, I'm not meaning to fight, I'd just like to know why this has been going on for a while and share a bit of how I feel now on it.

I've been wanting to make some sort of huge guide talking about what Feral-Heart is, what people do, what things are and how to deal with common errors or problems in the game that are an easy but often unknown fix to many new people. So, here it is...

Angel's Random Guide To Feral-Heart
It's here because it is.

What's What?

Maps are places throughout the game. They're the areas you visit. Other games might have "rooms" or something like that, but we call them maps. People sometimes make their own, which can be downloaded and played on from Cape Of Distant Worlds.

Presets are basically player made character designs. People can put them up for manual download, or use Preset Sync so everyone using it can have it automatically downloaded. Please note Preset Sync will not work for Mac and Linux users.

Movie clips are short videos made by players usually focused on their characters with some text, camera movement, and actions which can be timed. People usually only use these for RP advertisements though.

Groups are made by a single person who can invite others or get requests to join. They have a separate text channel for people who are members of the groups.

Parties are like groups but go away once you log out. They also have a text channel for members and may be used for temporary RPs or messing around in the game with friends.

"E button of doom" is the dash button people accidentally press when typing. This isn't anything serious I just wanted to say what it was.

Common Erros And Fixes

Not connecting to the front server? Make sure you're logged into the Play Game tab here.

Blank White Chracters, or sometimes called Marshmallows are caused by other players using a marking pack. I recommend finding one and installing it. Inside or somewhere online will be a tutorial on how to use them, but this should fix the problem.

Wrong Items sometimes appear when people are using different item packs. I'd say find the most popular one and use it to fix most of this problem, though it can't entirely be solved at this moment.

Crashing can be caused by anything from the smallest file to a major error. If you've recently downloaded anything for Feral-Heart or edited the files, try undoing it. It may be a good idea to have a backup folder for your Media file, located in the main Feral-Heart file itself. If you start crashing and can't find the source, you might have to use the backup. Crashing can really be so many things, so I can't really cover it all, but this is a start to fixing it.

"Could not find movie #" is a simple error I find myself in every now and then. Just log off and back on or restart the game and it'll be fine.

Codes, Folders And Files

my_presets is where you can make your own Presets for your characters. There are 12 total that you can make.

media contains most of the content for the game. I've messed around with it for a while now and know what pretty much everything is for.
Items contains all the data for the items you can customize your character with.

Matriels seem to be for major textures in the game. Not the actual textures exactly, but the text files that actually add them in.

Models are for major 3D models, mostly for the character creation.

Music simply contains the music in the game.

Objects are things placed throughout the maps like rocks, structures, trees, etc. my_objects are for ones you've downloaded or made to use in your own maps.

Overlays (I'm actually not sure about this being I've never messed with it, but judging by the contents) seem to be for the menus and tabs.

Particles are for a certain kind of object like fire, smoke, stars, etc. Basically, to put it short, an emitter.

Sky is for weather and cycles, like snow, rain, sand, etc, as well as changing sky colors throughout the in-game day.

Sounds simply contain various sound effects used in the game.

Terrains contain height maps and masks, images used to change the level of the ground and the textures on the ground. They also contain information about different maps. textures are images that can be used on the ground of maps.

Textures contain various graphics for the game. Mostly GUI stuff. Markings contain the designs of the markings you can put on your character. Masks are the different colors on the characters (I believe) and the shading. Splashscreens are images that show when loading.

Exports is meant for custom maps that you've downloaded. Depending on the map, you may have more files that go in other folders, but Exports is for the main stuff.

screenshots is a folder just for the screenshots you take in-game.

Have something you'd want me to address here? Let me know and I can add it! :D I'm gonna be adding more to this soon hopefully. If anyone noticed an error, feel free to point it out, as I don't know everything about Feral-Heart, so may mess up. Thank you all for reading! :3

Introduction / so, I never made mine...
« on: May 15, 2018, 08:51:35 am »
You may have seen me around here and there, probably on the forum games about a year or two ago. I forgot when I did that so much sorry. Maybe you saw a random, probably birb related group? But I never made myself an introduction... So I'm making an introduction.

A looooong time ago, er, a few years ago, I was watching wolf quest videos or something and saw a video of someone playin' this animal game. I thought it looked cool so I check out the site. Over. And Over. Then registration opened. I played as soon as I could and made probably one of the most unoriginal characters possible. A huge, gray wolf with white markings. I mean, I had my reasons. I was into Twilight Princess and tried to make a character like Wolf Link, but it kinda looked like a normal wolf with weird markings so yeah...

I messed around for a while and then I learned coding. A new world opened up to me. While the charm of unmodded FH is something I miss, randomly being in Adoption Centers for a while or trying to get a mate I'd never see again (I really question why I ever do these things), it is amazing to know how the game works. Granted, it's not source code coding, but I was proud of myself and the basic things I could do. And I'm still learning, so hey.

But this is an introduction, not a backstory! I mean, maybe it can be both? So here's who I am and the reasons to avoid me.

I'm always messing around with the code or doing something related to the files. I'll almost never finish what I'm working on anyway, so don't worry. I've done some oofery though, ya know, like deleting all the main maps and having everything go blank. It was fiiiine though, because I got the maps out of my trash can after accidentally putting them there trying to delete an exported map or something.

I love birbs. I call myself a birb. Er, jokingly. I've had tons of birbs in the past and somehow started to basically relate to my parrotlet. I've never had a dog or cat, and I've known these floofs for about half my life.

I've always been into games, but my favorites are probably things like Undertale, Terraria, and Feral-Heart because of the amazing people I've gotten to meet from it. Maybe sorta indirectly, but because of a friend I met on here, I've gotten into Undertale, where I met some of the best people. So, while it's sort of a long chain of things, it can be linked back to Feral-Heart. But anyway, I've always enjoyed playing games and years ago even wanted to do let's plays, but I'm actually getting into Twitch streaming instead.

I usually act pretty silly or stupid so I regret things I say or do often. Sometimes they aren't so bad, but others have made me worried I'll upset someone without even knowing. Instead of being funny, I sometimes just border on downright annoying. I'll sometimes try to get attention, even when I don't realize it at first.

So yeah, that's me. I never did one of these on here, and I'm sorta "returning" even though I was mostly just unactive but not really gone. I'll probably go away for months to come back suddenly for days, but I wouldn't mind staying active with ye floofs, plus with the game updating and all.

Thanks for reading! I know it's long, scattered, and random, but it's here.
