Height Map Issue

It seems no matter how many times I try to get it to work in-game, it closes the game instantly I try to open it in-game (in other words, it crashes). I was planning on making my own map, only my mask works.

Anything I'm doing wrong? I know I made a topic like this (but with preset help), but this is on the new updated version of the game and I am utterly confused (and frustrated, because I was planning on making this a public map).

What program are you using? If its Photoshop, open a working height-map, edit it, and click "save as..." and JUST change the name :P Thats what had helped me... I think theres two formates of .png's though... :/

Paint.net doesn't work at all if you're using that
