Title: Join the gathering ferals! It's story time.
Post by: LordSuragaha on April 25, 2014, 12:27:36 am
What if Feral Heart had legends...

Alright here's a fun and imaginative topic for everyone to join in on. I want you all to start thinking creative for this one and to really get your imagination out there. Everyone is welcomed to join this by the way.

Now for the challenge...

I want you all to imagine yourself as one of your characters sitting down at the center of many other FH critters. The purpose for the gathering is to share with them the many tales of Feral Heart...

With this said...

If the lands of Feral Heart had a story what do you think the story would be? What legends lie untold?

Here are just some examples to kindle the flames of your imagination but don't let these limit your creativity :

- The tale of Bonfire Island. Where is the bonfire? Why is it named Bonfire?

- The origins of the stone bridge

- The formation and or uses of the + area in Fluorite Plains.

- How did the lands come to be populated by such varying species?

- Where is the Feral Heart universe? Some where in a futuristic abandoned earth or another planet?

- The story of the sunken city in Atlantis

- How did the floating islands/platforms of SkysRim & Ascension Island come to be?

- Who created the Temple of Dreams? Who or what was it made for?

- Who built all the strange structures scattered around Fluorite Plains?

Have fun with it :) I plan to write in some legends myself.

Gonna do a sort of RP style here! ^^ VERY LONG! didn't realize how long it was until I reread it...eheheh...and yes, I know there are a few typos, I'm doing this on my phone.)

Thyme gave a toothy grin at everyone who was gathered around the small flickering campfire, her eyes darted from one creature to another, letting the tension  rise, a few of the animals squandering with their paws and nipping at their lower lip. She gave a small chuckle then began her tale...
"So, you all want to know how you were formed hm? How some of you have dog bodies but cat tails, and some of you are neon while others seem to be out of a painting. Well I'll tell you from the beginning. When time began, there was a blank slate of water, this world had nothing in it or to it. It was just there. But eventually the water had lowered from the land underneath cracking and slurping up the fluid, when the first piece of land formed, it was called Bonfire. Which is where we sit right now. The ground was fertile and moist from the almost everlasting water of the salty ocean. Soon a bigger piece rose with the paradise, it was a flat circular shape that added to the first, which was a twisting hill. After years of and years of evolving, plant life took hold of the land. No one is sure what the first plant was or how it formed, some say it was a hidden seed pocket in the ground, others think that the soil had a mind of its' own. Either way, this place was formed. Under the hill there was a massive hole, what looked to be an entrance to a tunnel, named Ficho. Once it had drained all of the water, only half stayed at the bottom, swelling up by a continuous waterfall that is fed through from a cave, Lonely Cave. With it's waters reminding us of the past, it circulates and feeds all of the water you see. It was the third formation, the floating rocks lifted off the ground, out of sheer magic you might say. They soon parked themselves on another realm. The dream state. Once you climb the pedistales, you are met with the fate of testing your courage and stubborness to go on, the floating platforms there are like steps to the success. Once at the top, the world changes and you are high in the skies, where endless waterfalls fade to mist and nothing seems real. Once you've made it back to reality you'll be on your way to South Pole. The barren wasteland of snow and ice, home to frostbite and death, only the most rugged and ridged creatures can survive in this pool of white. If you wander enough the snow will stop and the weathed will slowly warm up the further away you are, soon you are met with a beach, more or less. Atlantis. The remains that dwell at the bottom of this bowl of water are said to be the last clues to past lives, in the days of the humans and domesticated animals. It's sickening to imagine. But this place too mostly drained, but it was too deep to get all of the water out. Miles of water stretch as far as the eye can see, but under the water is a dark and endless place. You have to hold your breath and travel through a passage of tunnels filled with strong currents to reach Last Cave. This is a place where nightmares come to rest, it is a place riddled with fossils and stories to what the ocean floor looked like when the world was flooded. When you arrive back at Lonely Cave, there is a beach you can get to from the water, it stretches out to a cliff eroded by sand and wind. If you wish, you can visit different realms and sometimes universes if you discover them, this is Cape of Distant Worlds and certainly lives up to its name. Beyond this place, through more sand, you will find a massive field of grass and water. It is a perfect place for hunts and exploration, plant life is abudent here since it has the same soil as Bonfire. This place was named Flourite Plains. Though it has a better place to sleep than out in the open or in some cave. The Temple of Dreams, said to be something created by the imagination. This place is a enchanted wonderland of flowers and waterfalls, it can take you to sleep or sunrise, day to night, but the relaxing atmosphere will always remain

As for you. Well you formed by two mighty forces that appeared after this world was made, their names were Rikasa and Elijah, the first being a proud feline mixed with some reptilian blood, and the other being a canine with some bird to her. They agreed on the name, FeralHeart, wanting their land to be wild to the core. The two shaped the creatures similar to their own image, but then everyone looked the same. The two bickered and argued when they couldn't decide on who should give up their powers to eachother. Eventually, their own creations tricked them into causing a massive fight, it lasting over three days. During that time, their powers were lost and passed down onto the creations. When the fight ended they were just the same as their children of magic. Soon the animals used this ability to help form caves and glowing crystals to light pathways, everything was working out peacefully, they had new races such as dragons, catdogs, horses, and even some birdlike creatures. And there was also the default feline and canine, which always gave the resenblence and body build of their other kind. But peace never lasts forever, soon they started to use the magic to reshape the land, causing huge mountains to shoot from the ground in Flourite, everlasting blizzards in the South Pole, and a waterfall that you can never get back up from in Ficho! The war ended and just like their superiors, the powers vanished, flying high into the sky and scattering, creating what we see as stars. Eventually everything went back to normal but there is still some feud between species. Whether is be neon, real. Cats, dogs. Horses, dragons. Demons, angels. The legend will always bring about omens."

x3 yay first post

I really enjoyed reading that! I actually could imagine your character sitting there telling their story and gosh what a story :D Very clever origin story for Feral Heart's land and creatures. I like the explanations you came up with and the style you wrote it in. The whole idea of the Feral Heart lands appearing as the seas dropped and the felineish canineish gods. I could really see that as a story for Feral Heart. Great story so far Thyme <3 thank you for taking the time & putting in the effort to share it.

I'm going to tell the story of how Bonfire Island is Bonfire Island. In a bit of RP-ish realistic way of when you try to speak in Bonfire. xD

I looked at my Group tab, we had 20+ members. We called this the "Feralheart Tales" group. I closed the tab, seeing the ruckus with Mate Center, Trolls, and RPers.
<FARTYPRINCESS> LOLOLO IMMA MAGICAL PRINCES WITH UNICRON POWERS!AND FARTS!
<Sandfury> Everyone turn off local chat, please. It'll be easier to understand the story.

I begun to tell the tale of the naming of Bonfire Island.

Soon after the creation of Feralheart, as told by Thyme, the remaining creations decided to celebrate their.. Well: creation! Each animal was required to bring a piece of wood. Not just any piece of wood, a piece of wood that told about them. If you had a thin piece of timber- it said that you were fragile, but can snap at any time. A thick piece of lumber told that you were brave, and you can overcome any fear. There is one fear that you only have- and you would then have a soft spot, where lumberjacks can tear you apart.
The normal canine and feline ran this event. They built a bonfire in the middle of the island, and the two's wood were a a thin one, and a large one.  They combined the two, a large fire erupting. They put their pieces in. One by one, the pieces were burning. One by one, the creatures felt closer.
Only one piece did not ignite, yet no one noticed. They were too busy socializing. The poor man was an old wolf. He had a terrible life so far in a few years. The piece he chose was thin, but strong. The strongness had withered down to the breaking point after all of the years.
When the animals left to sleep, the bonfire still burned. The elder wolf got up, he stood in front of the massive bonfire- his stick finally snapping in front of his eyes. He went crazy- no he went berserk. Many said his last thoughts were: "I want to die by my name. I wanted to die in flames." He crashed through the bonfire, the flames burning at his skin.
In almost a minute, the bonfire was in the water, but the pieces of wood still clung to each other- tumbling away in the ocean current. As for the elder wolf, he burned. Animals came running over, trying to do something- but it was too late.
They took his burnt body, and buried it south of the island. It is said his corpse sprouted into a large palm tree- with a ragged feel, and sharp points near the top.
So, they decided on Flame Island at first, in honor of the elder wolf, but it was changed to Bonflame Island, and soon into Bonfire Island as time went on.
Every time you visit Bonfire Island, try to find the closeness you feel inside. Although the bonfire does not exist, there is an invisible flame inside of everyone. This flame would always last forever, combine the flames and be your own bonfire. Be the bonfire.

Sorry it's a bit short- but when I saw the idea you put, I wanted to do it. XD

Oooo, I think I'll try the Stone Bridge Origins one.....)

-Ahem-

"Now, I've never been the best at telling stories, but, bear with me.

And if I catch you sleeping you will make Tia WarKat very angry, understand?

Now, I am assuming most of you have gone to The Stone Bridge. Seemed pretty ordinary, I mean, it's only a bridge made out of stone spanning a small-ish river, right?

Wrong.

It's more than just that, well, yeah it is a bridge, made out of, stone, but it represents, unity, and the good things that live in the Beautiful Feral things.

Now, a long long long long long looooooooooong time ago, before even The Packs and Prides were built, There were two pillars, near the mouth of a small river. No one knows what put them there or why they still stood.

Storms were frequent back then, sometimes even reaching the middle of the Plains themselves.

Well, one particularly stormy night, The Felines and the Canines were in a dispute over the land of Fluorite, Since they had gotten the idea to divide it up equally. But, obviously the Plains were not that easy to divide up, the two islands were bad enough since one was much larger than the other, but also the Entrance to the Temple of Dreams, only recently discovered was in a specific area of the Plains.

Well, they fought with words at first, but in the course of an hour the claws were out and the teeth were snapping, scuffles breaking out and those scuffles turned into a all-out brawl. And the storm was not helping it in the least, the loud noise, flashes of light, just whipped everyone into an even bigger frenzy.

Now, they had held the meeting at the Lake, but the fighting took it's way to the pillars, and was spreading to the other side of the river.

Now it was a over-blown fight on either side of the river, when suddenly, lightning struck the two pillars of stone, causing both Felines and Canines to stop fighting, and watched in amazment and fear as the two slabs of stone fell, hit each other and fused slightly in the middle: Forming a bridge. And the winds, storm, all stopped suddenly, and went away.

They took it as a sign.  When they had fought, the storm kept raging, when they stopped, the storm went away.

They then decided not to divide up the lands, but just roam about as they saw fit.

But that was then, the story of our beloved bridge is still not yet done. Oy, I see you drooling!

I'm not that bad! Now, sit up, wake up, and pay attention will you?

Now, as the generations went by, the story of the Twin-Lightning Strike on Stone(That is what they called it), faded into legend, then into myth, and then, into fairytales, before going away completely.

So, the younger generations had no idea what they even meant, and therefore just called it the most boring place in the world, and sent naughty pups, cubs, kittens, and offspring alike there, a 'Time-Out' area so to speak.

Well, one day, the sun was out, and beating down on the Plains.
And the animals had retreated to the Rivers, and went towards the Stone bridge, and used it as a diving board.

They discovered that it was an excellent place to jump off and into the water, which helped some of the younger ones with boredom.

Now, another day, a small litter of kittens was left there, along with a lion cub, and a doberman puppy, on timeout for pulling off a prank on the Elder animals.

Well, they heard the older animals talk of the fun they had on the bridge, and they decided to try it for themselves.

They had a blast. It was the best time-out EVER.

Well, the parents came by, and saw them having so much fun, and wondered, 'Why are they having fun, this is a punishment! In my day, this was the most boring spot around! And yet here the children are, PLAYING on the bridge!'

And soon, more and more animals joined it, and it became a socializing spot.

Not /just/ for jumping off and into the river, but to talk, and find animals to join the various social groups they made.

And, sometimes, not all of them weren't even Animals! Some were artificially made, and soon, Stone Bridge became a lot like Bonfire: A melting pot of different personalities, people, and groups.

This tale is still not done, but I shall add onto it, I am tired now. Telling stories is not good for the fingers, er, I mean, paws, and or voice."

-Realizes how long it is- Wow, no wonder you fell asleep! I feel old now... )

Batu, an old mutt, gave a toothy grin, glaring down at the misbehaving youngsters pouncing about her paws.

"Quiet, now hus-"
A loud squeal interrupts her.
"Now, beha-"
Yelp!
Batu snarls, fur bristling, and the puppies quickly settle down, gazing up at her as Batu begins her story.

"You think it's fun to misbehave? To break the rules? To shout nonsense or bite others? Well, you won't think it's so funny, after they find you."

"Who finds me?" A soft voice pipes up.

"Rikasa and Elijah" Batu growls, and she grins, seeing the pup's confusion at her answer.

"Ah, yes.  Rikasa and Elijah may be gone now, hiding their faces from our world, but they have left behind watchers. Watchers to keep our worlds in order. The watchers speak with an aurora of red power, and when they speak their voices boom across the land. No ear can escape it. Not the deaf, or the ill.

The watchers are chosen by the watchers before them. They pass their immense power down from one to another. They watch us silently, waiting for someone to cross the line, or snap one of the rules  Rikasa and Elijah set for us to follow."

The pups looked scared now. Wide-eyed they listened. "What happens if someone does break a rule?" One puppy asks in a shaky voice.

"Well, simple, really. The watcher lunges forward. At first, it may only snap at your neck. You can get away once, maybe twice if the watcher is merciful, but sometimes a rule is broken too often. The watcher casts a spell. A powerful one, known as a ban. It traps those rule breakers in a bubble. They are unable to be heard, seen, touched, or smelled by anyone not in a similar bubble. They can stay like that for days, months, or even years." Batu says.

"Which is why you should always watch your tongue or where you step, because the Watchers will always be watching us. Now, run along to bed, and save your mothers the trouble of lecturing you!" Batu snapped, and the pups scrambled, chatting excitedly about the story. "I'll be a watcher one day!" One shouted, and the old wolf had to smile.

Kittykat walked up to the crackling flames, looking around at the other species or felines before sitting down, making herself comfortable. Flower, her curious and cautious daughter, looked up at her mother and sat down quietly beside her. The older feline cracked a small smile before clearing her throat. "Alright you all, want to hear the story of the plus island? Listen closely, as I shall tell a truthful tale that many have passed on for generations.

Thousands, thousands, thousands, and thousands of years ago, there was nothing but black. Pitch black. No air, no sight, no hearing, no floating, nothing. There was nothing but stars. The land of Feralheart was at its childhood, its birth. Slowly, mountains, shallow oceans, and the closest thing to life it could get appeared. These mountains turned into waterfalls, these shallow oceans turned into deep, dark oceans of mystery, and these life-forms slowly evolved into fish, then turtles, then dolphins, then whales, etc. There was one life-form that didn't evolve into an aquatic creature, though. It was the Malisphiosiusa Laecimaliosuem. It started out as a curious, female fish who wished to explore beyond the ocean. Soon, she got the courage to swim up to the surface. To her very surprise, she could breathe. She started to dwell on the surface's sands for days, and days, until she finally developed legs for walking, and a cat-like tail, and ears. The Malisphiosiusa Laecimaliosuem evolved to have hair, and soon it changed from having eggs, to having babies. It slowly turned into a feline you see today, and it is rumored that every feline you see right now is a blood relative of the Malisphiosiusa Laecimaliosuem. But this is only the beginning.

Whenever the Malisphiosiusa Laecimaliosuem was evolving, a giant hunk of land emerged from the seas and split into a plus. Nobody knows why or how, but some suspect it was from an earthquake or from the temperature of the oceans. A canine species that appeared before the Malisphiosiusa Laecimaliosuem called this island home. They made a huge group, but eventually died out, although there are some relatives of it to this day. Whenever the felines became the (mostly) dominant species, they noticed a green light emerging from the island. Amazed, they ventured closer to the island, and found there was an abandoned pup with bright, glowing green markings and horns that were already adult size. Gawking at this, they raised the pup as one of their kind and thought they had been blessed with a gift from the Gods.

Indeed they were, but it was just the beginning. More and more pups began to appear on the island, with different colors such as yellow, blue, pink, purple, etc. Nobody knew why they were coming, but raised them anyways.

Suddenly, three days later after the pups had stopped coming, a huge explosion from the island rumbled the whole plains. Scared and terrified, the felines and the now raised canines investigated, and there they saw a glowing, levitating white feline with a bird tail and lion ears, looking down at them. The feline bellowed "Do not be afraid, my children. You all must live in harmony and peace, as you will rise to be dominant, great, and allied.". The felines and the canines were in great shock, and they did so, it turning out to be a wonderful choice.

And that, my friends, is how the plus island and (most) harmony to the plains came to be. At least, that's what my grandmother told me." Kittykat mused, finishing her story. Looking down at her daughter, she smiled. "Flower, I think it is time to go home. You look tired yourself." She said softly, and Flower yawned. "Yeah.. I'm really tired."

The two felines walked back home, the leaves crunching under their paws and the stars shining above them.

I'm so pleased to see more posts today! :) Thank you guys for taking the time to use your imagination and share it all here. I really enjoy sitting here reading these!

I like how some of you build upon some of the other stories told here, and I love the different styles you're all using to tell your stories.

Sandfury's Bonfire tale is quite intriguing =o I wonder what set off the elder wolf to act the way he did? Kind of a dark, sad, and serious ending though especially for Bonfire. It's a total contrast from the silly colorful Bonfire we know lol. I like the idea of uniting the sticks of everyone to fuel the Bonfire. The whole them of unity is strong within all your stories. I may never look at Bonfire the same way again x3

Warkat's story of the Stone Bridge is so creative. I like the idea of it representing unity especially since it sort of connects a portion of the landmass that is Fluorite Plains and separates the two main sides. The whole stormy battle scene between the species was quite an exciting start to the tale. I also like your explanation for why it has become a gathering hub in recent days. Very clever! :)

LongJump's story was very amusing to me. I love the way you started it in rp style. I could really envision my own character sitting some where among the crowd listening to your character telling her tale. I like the way you recycled the gods' names from Thyme's legend in your own story as well. The way you described the mods/admins makes them seem so much more mystical and mysterious like some great spiritual guardians or deities etc. I simply adore the way you transformed the ideas of banning and kicking into a more magical and imaginative thing. The whole reaction of the pups/cubs and relation to what happens when they're naughty I love it all x3

Ambrenio your story is so creative. I like the way you explain the evolution of the species in the Feral Lands. It makes me envision Feral Heart like some strange mythical world from a distant unknown alien planet. I also enjoyed the way you introduced your story in rp form. Every aspect of your story is so wonderfully strange and interesting from the formation of the feline race to the plus island and the tale of how canines and felines united in friendship. Every time I venture near the plus area I will remember this story :)

Thank you all for sharing these awesome fun and creative stories! I look forward to seeing what else others will share. You're more than welcome to write more as well! You all really know how to bring life to the Feral Heart lands. You're all quite talented story tellers :3

(This story is about bonfire)
When it was almost the beginning of time, there was a cold, barren planet orbiting a desolate, far away star. Nothing thrived on this planet, and nothing ever would have, if not for the asteroid. It crashed head on into the planet, it was full of H2O, carbon, and oxygen, which all spilled onto the planet. A tiny, weak atmosphere began to bloom, and all of those strange, alien chemicals from the asteroid melted into eachother and created a cell. That cell divided into trillions, hundreds of thousands of cells, each one split into two categories. The first evolving cell developed tiny ears, a long snout, and thick shaggy fur. The other cells evolved to have sleek fur, sharp eyes, and sharp claws. As they evolved and crawled onto land, they both split apart, the canines and felines became known as the Pack and the Pride. Both lived only only on Florite Plains and both groups argued and fought over prey that belonged to them, or if a young one was missing. Finally, after years of needless bloodshed and harm, they all agreed to meet peacefully on the island where they all originated; the island of the beginning. Once there, they lit a giant bonfire to stay warm and dry, and began to discuss their problems. Words turned into snarls, and snarls turned into fighting. One young feline accedentally tripped over a burning timber while fighting, and it rolled over to all of the dense plant life. At once, everything errupted into flames, and felines and wolves dove into the sea, panicked, and swam over to new and distant lands, where even more packs and prides began to flourish. The now rogue felines and canines told their young about Inferno island, and those young to their young about Burning island. Generation apon generation passed, until one day the name Inferno island became known as Bonfire island. And the name still stands today.

Lol Nubeees... Indeed xD

Ohhh I like the origin story for our little feral planet there Karma. Very vivid and creative and similar to theories about earth's formation I like that inner astronomer in you :) Its a nice way to think of the unity of the land also since they all are children of the asteroid. I like your explanation for the naming of Bonfire island as well. It would explain why they spread out so much. Wonderful story.

Ohoho! *rubs hands together* I have found my niche.
*casually shoves excerpt from my weird, creepy Cryptid Journal*

My other theory was off, but I believe this one is somewhat relevant... even if it's too nerdy/science-y to be a "legend." x3

The Second Mystery~Gigantification

Throughout my travels, I have been through strange places, and met some strange animals. One of my most intriguing findings is the gigantification of some animals. The species that I have noticed goes through this the most is the domestic cat. Some of them are the size of lions... and pretty much all of them are bigger than me... and I'm a wolf! Of course, this strange size is not limited to cats, and many species are gigantified on a normal basis.
Many of the gigantified animals are seen in Flourite Plains, though it is also common in Bonfire Island.
Now for my reasoning of how this happened.
Flourite crystals are especially common in this world. Naturally, the highest concentration is in Flourite plains. And with fluorite, comes fluorine, which strengthens bones and teeth. The fluorite in our world, however, is somewhat strange, coming in strange patterns, glowing and even floating. So perhaps these special fluorite crystals produce a mutated fluorine, one that can strengthen MORE than just teeth and bones. Since the crystals are found in the lakes, the morphed fluorine could easily affect the populations of the plains.
Hopefully I'll be able to test this theory soon, but until then, I will continue my search for a lead.

ooh interesting topic! c:

THE TALE OF THE GOOD OL' LAGGY STONE BRIDGE

Turtle: COME CHILDREN. SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP

So you've probably all heard of Fluorite Plains. No, not the Mate Center Island. No, not the cape thing. Kids, seriously? It's the BIGGEST MAP WITH THE CAVE AND TREES AND STUFF. Okay, so, a huge ravine thing cuts through the map. Long ago, the floofs living there--canines, felines, and matebeggars--were having issues about who owned which part of the map, and both sides wanted more land and power. The canines and felines were in a huge war, and the ravine cutting through the map acted as divider between the sides. Crossing over it, in most cases, meant death. Harsh, right? Sadly the matebeggars would always be spared. ughkfdh whyyyy

So pure anger and rage aside, there was two creatures, a lion and wolf. Both sick of the war, they swam out to Cape Island, which was not claimed by either side. Then they met each other. One was named "Default" and the other "Character". Default and Character become friends and blah blah insert a bunch of boring stuff here Mr. Turtle is too lazy to talk about.

They came back, and after a super-duper thoughtful speech, the canines and lions put aside their differences and became united. Because of it, they thought that they could build a bridge between both sides so they cross over whenever they wanted. With the help of both canines and felines, they both brought two large rocks, and after a bit of working, they were able to make a bridge that stayed up. That is why the rock is there, and now tons of species will meet there together! Yay! And that is also why matebeggars are now everywhere. NOW RUN CHILDREN BEFORE YOUR PARENTS YELL AT ME

^And there is my 'beautifully detailed' and 'beautifully written' story of the Stone Bridge. huehue

*Flops in like a fish* Here's my own take on Bonfire Island because asdfghjk))

Vess, a young, and rather skinny Cheetah, stirred slightly and raised his paw. "If you'd like, I have a bit of a tale of my own to tell." He paused and gave a quick glance around. "This was an old story my Grandfather used to tell me. It's about Bonfire- I know, I know, That place isn't really known for its... Intelligence.. However, it wasn't always such a mundane and daft speck in the ocean."

The lanky Cheetah took a breath. "Long before your time, or your Father's time, or even your Father's Father's time, Bonfire was ruled over by beautiful winged creatures. Some sporting the strong, willful physic of a Canine, and others had the elegant, agile body of a Feline. But, despite their physical differences, they both were blessed with two grand, colorful wings planted upon their backs, and their pelts flashed with glorious colors, each hair gleamed as if lined with a rainbow, and their fur sparkled in both the light of the Sun and the glow of the moon. These magnificent creatures were dubbed 'The Beasts of the Light' in honor of their radiance."

"These 'Beasts of the Light' were highly revered leaders, nurturing young Bonfire with good heath, prosperity, and strong leadership. The most renowned of all of these creatures was a winged Lion known as Haffiner, whose pelt shone bright with vibrant oranges and reds like a flickering flame, and his mate Fadin, whose wings gleamed like the stars themselves. They carefully guided our dear Bonfire, and its visitors grew happy and thankful for their glorious leaders. Years past, and Fadin birthed a cub, who she named Ficho. The other 'Beasts of the Light' rather distraught by Haffiner's new son, as Ficho's pelt was not beautiful and perfect like the everyone else. Instead, little Ficho has splotched with horrid reds and greens, and his fur was patchy with specks of blue springing up like sores from a plague. Haffiner insisted that his son should not be judged, for 'My dear Ficho may not be perfect, but that does not make him any less than us. He is still a a child of the Light.' Haffiner spoke with wisdom, but Ficho's torment continued."

"As a cub, poor Ficho was constantly avoided. His ghastly pelt driving away anyone who was near him. Cut off from any attention, even refusing to talk to his own parents, the little cub shattered inside. Anger warped his vision, his view of the world. Hate crushed his feeling, his ability to love and to bond. As Ficho matured, he began conducting a few... Experiments. As a cub, he would slice open frogs, choke and die. Scarring and warping their faces, making them into grotesque rag dolls. Then, he moved up to squirrels, then fish, then birds, even playing with his food. The very prey that gave their life to sustain his, he would torture, beat, and break. Haffiner and Fadin were worried, their son would leave for days on end, not returning. His obsession grew, moving on to new subjects day after day, night after night until.... He did it."

Vess closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Ficho. Dear, little Ficho, kidnapped a pup... A defenseless child, taken from its family, to be broken and suffer the wrath of a scarred... A scarred Monster.... This time, Fadin and Haffiner heard the screams. They confronted Ficho, who stood over his 'handiwork': a crunched, battered pup. Haffiner was furious, Fadin was in shock. Ficho's father gave him a swift cuff to the side of his head, he didn't want to hurt his son, but Ficho had made a dire mistake. Fadin scooped up the broken pup and flew away as Haffiner interrogated his son who he had loved all these years. Ficho's only reply was, 'I am ugly. So I made them ugly too.' and the hideous beast flew from his Father's grasp. As time ticked on, Ficho's motives shifted from causing pain to ruling all of Bonfire himself. He would show them that he is powerful enough to strip them of their freedom, and seek revenge for the years of torment they caused him. Ficho gathered a group of followers, a cult if you will. Each member painted themselves with bright yellows, deep blues, and neon greens to match Ficho's horrendous fur. They layed low, trying to draw as little attention to themselves as possible, slowly excavating a complex tunnel system directly beneath Bonfire. That tunnel became known as Ficho Tunnel, after the one who declared its construction. I take it some of you may reside there?"

The Cheetah looked around, noticing a few nods from his audience, and continued. "Anyway, dastardly Ficho hatched a plan. At the dawn of the first full moon, he and his followers would attack. Dethroning his parents, and creating a new order. and Order of which he would rule with iron claws. They readied themselves, prepping for the grand battle. Upon the the dawn of the first full moon, a mighty roar rung out across Bonfire island, and from beneath the spiraling mountain, Ficho and his followers ran out, smashing through the weakened stone and leaving a gaping hole in there way. Canines and Feline alike, all of them had hideous, color-splotched coats, reflecting their leader."

"Old Haffiner rallied his own troops, trying to fend off Ficho's rather impressive forces, despite how ragtag and ill-minded they seemed to be. At last, Haffiner faced his own son, twisted and shattered, his grotesque pelt now slicked with deep crimson and sooty black from the battle. Ficho immediately launched himself at his Father's leg, in an attempt to cripple him. Haffiner rose into the sky with one swift stroke of his wing, Ficho following close behind. They fought above the Island, which was snow raging with full on war. Jaws snapping and claws slicing. Haffiner finally grabbed his dear son by the paws, locking their feet together, and whipped around, smashing Ficho's head into a rock. The impact killed him, falling limp in his Fathers grasp. Haffiner let out a roar, signaling that the war now had no purpose, as the opposing partie's leader was defeated. Ficho's remaining cult were either exterminated or had escaped, avoiding the victors grasp. Haffiner, however, could not bare so see Bonfire again. The destruction and hatred that his own, dear son had spread as too much for him. He, and a small group of his subjects, left the island permanently. To where, no one knows for sure, but he swore to never return. 'The Beasts of the Light' soon lost their respect, being called out for leaving their post. They were rejected, even called 'Sparkle Critters' as a mock name. Without a solid rule, Bonfire Island slowly slipped away, becoming a gaudy, mundane landscape compared to the prosperity it had felt before. Slowly, it became the Bonfire Island we know today."

With the final words of the story said and done, Vess bowed his head and left quietly.

Oh my, that was a novel, huh?))

Ficho was once really tiny and the mountains above it don't have vegetation on them yet due to the fact that Schrodingers cat found the secret of why fluorite crystals glow bright blue.  Schrodingers cat was unable to tell anyone because they went thermonuclear when beta decay from the crystals reacted with them and the resulting explosion thrust up the mountains.  This is how the original bonfire island burned own and became the scattering of ultra weathered volcanic cone with some hot springs it is today.
(Actually i just made this up and the cat wasn't even real).

"Gather around, dearies! I shall tell ye the tale of this realm the way m'granpa always did..."

"Long before time was as vast as the stars there was one vast land known as many names. There were four guardians: there was the Guardian of the Sea- a majestic serpent, he who was full of bravery and loyalty to the ocean depths; the Guardian of the Land- a bear, he who was of wisdom and prosperity; the Guardian of the Skies- an eagle, she of elegance and mercy; the Guardian of Light and Shadow- a dragon, he who held the knowledge of the world and guided the lost and weary traveler through the world, giving they, the traveler, the light of the sun and moon from his realm where both were always present.

"Now, where these Guardians came from is a mystery to most, but I feel 'twas the wise Elders of m'land who put them there. The Elders, hm? The Elders were the first of all and 'ave been taking care of us since the dawn of time. They still live to this day, hidden from the eyes of the world.

"Each with their own domain to protect and rule with their many gifts and insight. The world was bare in the beginning and without a people to tend to the Guardians' kingdoms. Each agreed that they would seek out their own people- traveling to other worlds, beseeching the people to embark on a journey to new land in promise of a life of happiness and joy. Each Guardian was successful in bringing back a people f'er them to care f'er, who would in turn care f'er the land of their Guardian. The people of the world was now diverse in species and culture.

"Time passed, and the world went on. But all things come to a definite end if given time. The people of the land sought out the world above, and asked the Guardian of the Land to give it to them. The people of the sky asked their Guardian for the world of ocean and their many islands. The people of the ocean asked for the realm of Light and Shadow, so they could live forever- where time does not move. The people of the light and shadow asked f'er the vast reaches of land, where they could live out day and night separately and leave behind the endless balance of both.

"Each Guardian was troubled, f'er they did not want to lose their people. Afraid of the other Guardians becoming jealous and greedy of their own people, they set out f'er war, demanding territory from the other Guardians so that they may please their peoples. The world was divided. War was waged and blood was spilled. The Guardians soon realized they could not defeat their brethren and would lose their people if this quarrel would continue.

"The Guardian of the Land was the first to leave, using his wisdom to carry his people inland to the forests for protection. The Guardian of the Sea beckoned his people to the depths of the water and brought his islands and cities with him. The Guardian of the Sky, full of anger, stole from the Guardian of the Sea, and took islands to the sky with her and her people. The Guardian of the Light and Shadow saw the inevitable future if he were to continue this quest, and ushered in his people to his realm of infinite time, and shut the rift that allowed people to pass through- closing he and his people off from the outside world forever.

"Peace was at an end. The Guardians continued to influence their people, guiding them and teaching them the ways of their homeland, but their time was, too, at an end. Each Guardian soon passed on to a new world where they would be at rest f'er all eternity. The only one to stay behind in the world of their people was the Guardian of Light and Shadow, f'er he could not pass in his realm of eternity; his days were grief-stricken as he could not go with his brethren and make peace.

"The outside world, however, carried on. Soon the Guardians were things of legend and carried throughout the hearts of their people through stories and tall tales of great things that 'ave come to pass. Without the Guardians to keep watch, their people soon spread out, taking residence where they pleased. Diversity was once more strung through the world like a decorated banner declaring peace between cultures and race. The people of the Guardians shared their teachings with one another and built cities with each other, making the world the way it was intended to be- together."

The small feline gem shouted "ALRIGHTITSMYTURN" She giggled
"Long ago sky's rim and ascension island were a connected island. One day a huge earthquake had made the part of sky's rim fall apart and drift away. Ascension island turned into a small island. A young lion god had walked to the small islands. He said "This island is barren. There must be something to do with them.. He had taken weeks to think about it and had an idea. His father had told him that a part of this island that made it huge had drifted away. He flew and flew and flew across the ocean for hours. He had found the missing pieces of the island and had used his power to pull them back. He levitated the rocks and carved them to squares. He pulled out the islands and placed them in the sky. He made a portal on the top of the many floating platforms. He made rings to the platform that held the portal. "Perfect. My time here is done. I shall return to my home." He vanished but the blocks were still floating beyond his power. They are still floating to this day and a few months ago before the feral animals had decided to move lands. This island was filled with adventurous young and old canines and felines. but since the feral lands' community had moved to a new land it is far far far far far far far fAR away."
The gem gasped "And there you have it."
Sorry that was quite short (oh i just killed the thread cri)

The crimson-striped black tiranig glanced around at the wide variety of animals gathered. They were each telling a tale they had heard from either rumor, an elder, or even a relative. She listened in silence for a long while, considering what each had said. When no other began a tale of their own for a while, she stepped forward.

Still unfamiliar with everything in this new, strange land, she took a moment to ponder how best to begin.

"Greetings, my name is Lenora." Her voice was soft, much like a mother speaking to their child. "I come from a land now sealed off to me, with an idea on just what this place truly is." She had to resist giving life to a sad sigh, thinking back on her friends and family, now entirely out of reach. "There are only two things I have heard from near everyone I've spoken to, and heard from, that remain the same. One, that this land is called FeralHeart. Two, that the place called The Grounds has always been around, since a time that no one knows. Does no one wonder why some lands you may have visited are now gone, and others have appeared in their place?"

Pausing, she once more glanced around. Most were curious now, though some seemed curious from the instant she had mentioned being from a land that could not be returned to. Giving a small nod, both to tell the animals gathered that she would continue and to encourage herself to go on, she went on.

"When you travel across distances, you see black gateways that take you to other lands, do you not?" She smiled warmly, well practiced in hiding most of her sharp teeth so that she appeared almost entirely harmless. "Those gateways are not tunnels, no. They are openings of time and space, connecting entirely different realms. When you pass through, you are actually entering into a different world. The Grounds, as it's called, seems to allow these gateways to exist. Somehow, by either magic or science, the small land of FeralHeart connects many, many different worlds together, allowing it to seem so very much larger than it actually is."

The image of a large, two-legged lizard flicked through her mind, causing a small chuckle to rumble through her throat. It wasn't a dragon, being wingless as it was. Also, it had called itself a 'dinosaur.' There was also a strange canine with curved horns and what appeared to be bones on various parts of its body. That one had called itself a 'Pokemon.'

"A few of you have mentioned a place called the Temple of Dreams." Tilting her head slightly, she couldn't help but wonder about it while she spoke. "Such a place does not exist here, as far as I have seen for myself. I do not doubt its existence, however. Perhaps that place that was named for dreams was actually a world of magic. And, perhaps, it was the very first realm to connect itself to this one. Magic flows where it pleases, after all, and it just may have wanted to see this smaller land."

A surge of hope went through her with her own words. If such magic could happen, maybe she could find a way back home. That hope softened her eyes more than they already were, giving them an almost dreamy-like appearance. "The magic it held could have easily flowed into FeralHeart when the two realms connected. Magic flows where it wants, so it's even possible that that place was what gave this land the ability to connect to so very many different lands. Most gates seem to be closed right after ventured through, whereas some remain. When a gate closes, however, there is no definite that it will not return another time.

"In the world I come from, the deity who watches over us all was a great phoenix. He created a guardian under each element to help him maintain balance in the world. I mention that because of Enoki's tale. It told of guardians that each had their own domain, and that watched over those within their domains. Though the domains are different than those in my world, the fact that there are guardians remains. Where did these guardians come from? In my world, they are born gifted with their power and status from our deity. Here, however, there is no known origin. It is my opinion that those guardians came from different lands. Perhaps they were the first four to enter into this world, this realm. Perhaps they came from this Temple of Dreams that has been spoken of, which is why they held so much insight and influence."

Sighing very lightly, she looked around at all those gathered around. "If this world is connected to many other realms, as I expect it is, then it means one thing." She paused for a few moments to build the curiosity of those listening. "It means that this world we know as FeralHeart has unlimited possibilities. An unlimited amount of species that can gather to know more about others. This land of FeralHeart has the ability to be a true land of all lands."

Bump.

„No one knows exactly how the universe began. Some theorize that in the beginning there was only Chaos and then out of the void everything was born, bringing along the beginning of order. Though the exact origins of the chaotic universe remain certain, most believe that a God, an all-powerful entity, decided to send two brightest creatures, the Sun and the Moon to ornate the earth with light. They became the protectors of our earth, shaped the worlds and called them "Feral Lands". They raised mighty mountains, large mounds, rivers, waterfalls and yet, no place, which they could call "Home". After some time has passed, they decided to live in The Grounds, a scattered place with vegetation and structures, where there were also their palaces. The lands were soon inhabited by animals and the two brightest creatures decided to have a meeting place, where they could move their palaces and have their stormy discussions. They raised two hills, close to The Grounds, so they could watch and observe everything from above. The inhabitants called this place "The Twin Peaks".“

On a planet in the goldilocks part of the solar system, was mostly large cave, sunlight only got to peer through gaps in the land that sat above, and the creatures were used to the darkness. Above the ceiling, there were giant bearded dragons, and they were all happy until one day the planet was invaded by giant leopards, and those leopards were hungry. All the leopards set foot on the planet at the same time, about to eat the giant bearded dragons, the ground began to shake and those lizards had a defence mechanism, the lizards teleported and no one knows where they went, while the leopards lifted off again as the ground gave way. The planet sprung into action and used its magic to hold up some structures that were in chaos due to the loss of the ceiling, and even chunks of the ceiling were held up by magic, those would become Temple Of Dreams and Sky's Rim, some stones were held aloft to form a path to the islands. Light flooded the large caverns, but Ficho Tunnel kept its darkness. Most of the creatures went extinct because they weren't adapted to the light, then new creatures begun to inhabit the land. The new creatures were there for years, and new species constantly evolved onto the planet at a rapid rate. Portals appeared that led to other planets all across the universe.

BUT...

Years later, there was a massive earthquake and the planet's magic temporarily went out all of a sudden due to a nearby supernova, and the sky fell to the ground... Well, the atmosphere stayed intact, but all the floating structures were no more. Chaos erupted again, species went extinct from the supernova and some creatures were crushed under pieces of the falling Temple Of Dreams in what would become Cherika Valley, and many creatures fled through the portals. Multiple cave-ins expanded Ficho Tunnel while Bonfire Island split into pieces, and the water level was lowered somehow, growing Bonfire Islands and forming Kiwimbi Beach. Rocks fell in Ficho, blocking the way to Lonely Cave as well as Flourite Plains and Bonfire Islands... But new ways appeared leading to Cherika Valley and The Grounds. The Grounds led to Eastern Pass which had pathways toward Bonfire and Kiwimbi. New creatures evolved onto the land soon after the earthquake, and creatures migrated back to the land.
