I hope this is in the right place.
I've noticed that my forum name was once "Togami" but it's not that anymore. Now, it's my ingame username. And the option to change your display forum name is no longer there on the forums.
Is this something that has to do with the update to the forums? Is this temporary (how long do you think it'll last) or permanent?
I hope I don't start something with this it's just that I think my ingame username is pretty ugly (It's an account I didn't make, I got it from a friend who didn't want this account anymore and I asked to have it and they did give it to me) and I honestly like my forum name to be "Togami".

It might have something to do with the forum update o;

Yep, Raz is doing website maintenance. You may notice a few odd things around the forum for a bit while he works. Right now, you'll notice all of the forum nicknames have been changed to the user's username. There's nothing to worry about. Hopefully we can move things back around after a while, so please have patience with us. c:

Eeeh I just noticed that wow
ew now I'm stuck as babystrit for a while, haha.
-
Wow, well this is awkward. O-o

I actually like this

Ive noticed it to, but my ingame name is the same as my forum name so the only difference is the f is lower case.

*Burns forum name in the background*
Well, I'll just have to deal with this for the time being, I guess. As long as we can change them again later it's fine xD

I like this better too. As much as I miss my newer name, it's nicer to see the name that people use ingame and eliminates the "find me ingame as: ___" we stick on our profiles. I'd like to see the actual ingame username and a nickname integrated into the miniprofile with this update.
-
It's also waaayyy less confusing.

Oh boi. Look at the 2. LOOK AT THE 2. DB IT IS EVIL. PURE EVIL. BURN IT. //inhales number 2//

now everyone knows who i truly am

Well I hope it's temporary, I liked being called NaruWolf far better than my weird ingame user that I'm not even sure half of the community knows how to pronounce correctly haha.
-
My secret identity has been reveled -covers up my username-
-
Oh my, I noticed this too. Right when I was 'bout to change my name on here. Haha.
I hope it can get fixed soon. If not, it's still no big deal. ^^

It's great 'n all to have the names match the in-game ones, until you consider that I created this account when I was 12. Being 17 now, I don't exactly enjoy the user, also considering that I've stopped going by "Ruby" a long time ago. I set the display name to Phloxenfree, since the account I actually use in-game is Phloxenfree, which matches my user everywhere else.
I don't use the Phlox forum account because it seems impractical to start over when you've already built so much up.
People are going to message this account if they need anything from me, not my newer one, since this is the one that is linked in a bunch of places.
Anyway, as already mentioned, I'm sure it's temporary.
It just doesn't work for everyone this way. xD

Same with me, though. babystrit isn't my better-known account, SSFireWolf is.
I didn't start the forum things on SSFireWolf, cause I was a derp and messed it up x3
But yeah, the name thing right now doesn't work out for everyone, haha.
-
Yea.
Not to mention, someone said it eliminates the whole "Find me ingame as ####" from our profile.
However, there could have just been a field to put our ingame username(s) when editing our profile, just like we now have for Tumblr/Youtube/Twitter/etc. profiles.
Exposing everyone's possibly cringe-worthy and/or embarrassing username like this isn't the best way to go, since some people wouldn't use the feature and some others would.

As this is a help thread and it has already been answered I will go ahead and lock it.
We will see what happens, I think the aim is to possibly put display name option back but we cannot guarantee anything. We'd have to do some testing and see if smf 2.0 handles display names any better than 1.1 did.
We will see what happens.
