Well, I had my sonas' name from a Rp.
I was named TinySteps.
Then I got nominated to be a leader.
I was named Tinystar.
Then I dissabeled the group of in-activity.
Then I named my charrie TinyTail and I loved it.
Now, she is my sona'.
-
To be completely honest, I got my sona's name by randomly jumblin' some letters around until I found somethin' that sounded interestin'.
It started with the simplistic name of Caspian. I found a likin' to the name but what I didn't like was how commonly used it is among other members. Thus, after puttin' some thought into it, I replaced the letters 'Cas' with 'Ves' and ta-da! Voila, there's Vespian's first name.
His middle and surname was a different story as I simply used ordinary terms from another language.
Soule = Soul in the French language.
Vahlok = Guardian in the Dovahzul language.
Pretty simple. I've been stuck with the name ever since.
-
Altserj, the mongrel, came from a alternative/indie band called Alt-j. I was listening to them while I was designing her.
Adril, the crocodile, is just a bunch of letters mixed up. Really it's just a copy of my other character's name Avril. I got Avril from a game where you choose your character's name from a list.
-
-
I have no idea where CharChar even came from. The name means nothing to me and I don't have a clue why I named him that.
-
Ahh, I love this thread. It's so interesting to see the responses 83
As for me, my fursona's name is Genny which dates back to an older account of mine that I used for quite a while before this one and the name was just a shorter version of my old username. Although my old fursona was called Gen, people always called me Genny so when I got a new account and finally a new fursona, I decided to keep the name Genny since that's what people were used to calling me and I liked the name so yush cx
-
Korsett. I am in love with a movie called Les Mis. The girl's name was Korsett and my mother said I looked like her. I thought it was a cute name and my sister calls me Korsett or Korsi. I just loved the name so much. That's my story cx
-
People just call me 'Lu' in'game because of my user c: But 'Snarf' is my forum nickname I suppose. :P
I have no idea why Snarf became my 'sona name though... though my fursona arrangement is complicated. c:
-
You know, it would have made a lot more sense if I called my Fursona Rusty since ever since I went into the online world my nickname was Rusty. But CharChar's name has stuck.
-
Well, Mocha was the colors of a Mocha :3
And Black Passion is referring to how things we love can cause pain.
-
Ahh, these are very interesting! And on top of that, the names are really nice!! ^-^ I love hearing peoples replies, on things like this! I love chu all! <3.~ c:
-
My fursona's name (which is Kittykat) is something I randomly made up for an account on dA I made long ago. I don't know why I named her that, it just sounded right. Unfortunately she can't remain my 'sona for forever since I'm involved with a lot of drama from tumblr and always have to make secret, different new accounts. Kittykat, though, will always remain my fursona in my heart. <3
-
ok i FORGOT TO MENTION
Both of my fursona's last names are Urie.
...it's extremely obvious who they were named after.
If you can't guess u suk.
-
I got Kori from an old Character from Last Moon.
I made a back-story, history, the whole nine-yards to make her abosolutely amazing.
It was for a random Roleplay we were doing, and it stuck x]
I use her every day, Roleplay with my DC gorup, and just in general have a good time.
-
Well I guess I got the name TwistedView from my first warrior car fancharrie I ever made.
Then later on, keeping the username, I made my first wolf charrie and being the uncreative chick I am I named her Twyst. I immediately fell in love with her and have kept her ever since!
-
I'm not too sure why I chose Thyme. I just thought of a smart person and plants, and for some reason, Thyme poped up. I think I tried Basil at one time....(Idk why it's plants...) But I liked Thyme better so yeah...I like to pronounce it with the 'Th' and not as in Time. But either way, I like the name and how it's spelt....plus when done backwards it spells Emyht which I always thought was emit, like emitting light.
-
Well, Raid actually came before my user.
I was meditating when I thought of this awesome name. Lol.
-
Well, my fursona's name, Dungeon, comes from a game (Dungeon Siege 2) I used to worship way back when. I used to watch my Dad play it as a kid, and I was really into D&D, so I was all "Why not name the first canine character I make on FeralHeart 'Dungeon'?" I don't really use Dungeon for anything really, but I just call him my fursona 'cause he's named after a game I still play today.
-
It took me two years to figure out what animal was going to fit me best. I love dark colors, and considering I'm a Margay,
when I ran across the name Kieran (Little dark one in Irish) I just automatically knew that that's what my fursona was
going to be named. Plus I have Irish and German in me - 'suppose it was only a coincidence that his perfect name
happened to be from Ireland. <3
-
Well, many of you are aware of my obsession with Assassin's Creed. So, naturally I needed an AC-based 'sona. Thus Jackdaw was born. He is named after Edward Kenway's ship in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Not only did I choose it because he's sort of a loosely based Edward-inspired character, but I simply just adored the name Jackdaw in general. X3
-
@ JimMoriarty ; Ah hah! I've been wondering about you, now it's all coming together. (Oh gosh, that siggy. "SHUT UP, SON! I DON'T CAAAARREE!!") Best sona ever. We should have a monthly "Favourite Fursona Contest" here so I can nominate you.
-
@FieldsForever; Buahahahah, d'awww, thank youuh. X3 <3
Glad le siggy could entertain 'ya, too. ;3

I'd forgotten that I hadn't replied to this. xD
I got Allegra's name shortly after I'd joined FH, actually, and I'd made her at around June of 2011.
I had an idea for a normal red wolf character (I was shaking up my usual character style), and so once I'd made her, I wasn't sure on a name. However, at the time I'd been watching the movie "Hitch" (it's fantastic, you should watch it sometime), and one of the character's names was Allegra Cole.
I thought, "Allegra! That's pretty, and it seems to fit this character."
So, thus was Allegra's name. xD She was only a normal red wolf (no wings), but my main roleplaying character for over two years, until last fall I decided that I wanted to combine my beloved Allegra with Linger, my winged lion, to make a character that was in its purest essence, "my" fursona. So, while Allegra's design changed a little bit with the addition of Linger's traits, she retained the name of my beloved roleplay character, and much of her personality, as well.
-
Mine mostly came to me cause of the color of her pelt.. but i wanted it to be a little more unique. i thought about naming her Skarla. but Skarlett just kinda sounded better :3
-
My main characters name 'BlackFlame' came from a very confusing book called 'Eye Of The Wolf' Which I had to read three times to understand what was going on. cx
-
Arkanis was my first actual name I used that wasn't generic and i've used it since. If i had to guess, i really think its just a combination of pokemon names but spelled a bit differently. My two favorite pokemon at the time were arcanine and arceus and a combination of the two names spells out Arcaneus. Replace a few of the vowels and boom! there's my name.
Another one I use commonly is Azarath. I remember originally I wanted the characters name to be astaroth, but at that time I played way too much soul calibur and saw him as one of the characters on there. The character the name was for MAY have gotten his name a bit modified because parts of his design remind me closely of a certain soul eater character. And thus he was born! Only to find out his name is part of one of raven's spells xD
A few more character names ive used: Zaros comes from the mmorpg called runescape and is one of the first gods in the game's lore. Madara, aizen and medusa all come from anime ive watch and at the time loved that villain for some reason. >:3 im weird like that. Torn was first an abbreviation of tourniquet when i wasn't able to spell it. And one of my oldest characters was honestly an interpretation of a newbie I met a long time ago on wolfquest that was extremely rude to me. I took those mannerisms plus part of their persons username and used it to creature kage as my first villain.
Also, not my character, but one of my friends named her villain jazmine after her boss at work. xD I just fine that hilarious.
-
Well, my fursona's name is Bumblebee. I gave her the name after Bumblebee from Transformers.. since I love Transformers and I reeeeeeeally love Bumblebee, LOL. Not much of a story but yeah...
-
Wow, you guys really have great stories! I really love hearing them, very interesting, indeed. <3.~
-
My fursona's name is "Clover"
No, I'm not Irish
But 4-Leaf Clovers are very rare and special and a name I knew that (hopefully) no one else would have.
Short story.
-
My fursona's name is Hermione. I gess ya'll might know where I got her name from, I have just started getting into the Harry Potter series and I love how Hermione is, daring, smart, and very, very pretty. Plus, I do like her name, and it matched my new fursona, so eyup. Hermione from Harry Potter!
-
^ fav
But uh, I've got so many characters, but I really only go by two, Ruby or some people call me Sacred.
I created Ruby (a dragon) because I was just always a huge fan of dragons. I always liked Spyro, Eragon, etc. And she was red, so it was between something like Scarlet or Ruby. Just kind of fit I guess.
Sacred is a little different. I got her name from an old game I used really like. When I was younger I was still playing mmos, haha. My two favourites were called Dungeon Siege and Sacred. Didn't think naming a character Dungeon Siege would fit too well, so Sacred it was.
-
M'ulahkrin
I got her name from The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim :3
The game Skyrim, has a made up language known as Dovahzul, or Dragon Tongue.
The 'Mul' part of her name means 'strong' in English, 'Ahkrin' means 'Courage'.
Mul = Strong
Ahkrin = Courage
M'ulahkrin = Strong Courage
As a side note, her nickname is Krin. This translates to Courageous.
Starry
Nothing special about her, my username was Stargazer, that is my nickname.
Qahnaarin
My new TEC character that I created. His name is also a word in Dovahzul.
Qahnaarin - Vanquisher
(Nicknames)
Qahnaar - Vanquisher
Qahn - Armor
Zu'u los faskah.
^ This means "I am fluffy." ^
-
Wellz I wanted a name that NOBODY else would have. Not just another name like idk, "Ice, Splat, Tooth, Frosty, Bloodshed, etc" any stuff like that. I kinda wanted a name where people would hear it and know that it was me. Not say, "Oh there's like ten people with that name- which one are you talking about?" No. Nein. No. I wanted my name to be remembered, basically. So I thought for such a long time, pasting random letters together. Eventually, in a Sciense class, we were doing a lab. Long story short, I was holding a Vile and a Flask and mixed the two words together. Creating the name Vask. I came home and looked up the word on Google Images and all it showed me were pictures of Sinks...so I approve. I doddled around with The name until I made the perfect character to go with the name. And TADA. VASK WAS BORN
-
Cheshire's name came from Alice in Wonderland. o3o Done..
-
My main character is named Turtle. It was Squirtle but some Pokemon roleplayers got pretty mad at me (I looked up Squirtle and I'm just like "OF COURSE IT'S A POKEMON" and I've never seen Pokemon before...) so I changed it to Turtle, because the name 1. sounds adorable and 2. It reminds me of happy, fuzzy, and nice feelings and reminds me of sand and the beach so I used it.
Then, for another character named Hadhi, the name simply means 'status' in Swahili.
Another character I have is named Fashan. It was a name from awhile ago that I used, it was from a story about foxes that I was writing. I just looked it up on a baby names site, the origin is Hindu and it means silver or gold which makes sense, for he is a silver red fox. So yeah o3o
-
To be completely honest, I got my sona's name by randomly jumblin' some letters around until I found somethin' that sounded interestin'.
I did the same exact thing with Arkanis. xD Just jumbled a bunch of letters and poof!
Though after a while, i kinda realized that its like a mispelled morphing of my two favorite pokemon at that time, Arcanine and Arceus. Because its basically Arcanus with the c replaced with a 'k' and u with an 'i'.
13 year old me was sooooo creative! *So much sarcasm x3*
-
Well, my first "sona" was Wolfie, since I was about twelve and thought to myself "You know what would be unique? Since everyone has 'wolf' in their name, mine should be 'wolfie'! Yeah, because no-one uses 'wolfie'." Literally my exact thoughts, I used to have a diary and wrote that in there -slight laugh- So, now it's just Wolfie. She has no other name, besides what her "boyfriend" calls her (which would just be Wolf).
My second "sona" is Jagged Skies (I just call him Jag). Now, he doesn't have a real name - anymore (because I'm really bad with names) - so he goes by Jagged Skies, Jagged, etc. How he got the name, well, funny story. I used my old ChickenSmoothie account (laggedwolfie - I deactivated it though, haven't touched CS in a while) and my middle name (which would be Skie). Well, I thought that "Lagged Skies" sounded pretty dumb, so just went with "Jagged Skies" - because, it sounded cool.
-Wolfie
-
As stupid as it may sound, I was looking up pretty words. I found the definition of 'lithe' (thin, supple, and graceful) and thought, "That sounds nice, let's just add an 'n' to it.". I also based her look on the word.
So her name actually holds no personal meaning, I just found a pretty word and went with it.
-
People always called me Wolf, and then well, it caught on. I thought it was not "cute" enough, so I thought up things, Wolfly, Wolfy, and then... WOLFIE. And, ka-boom, there ya go! And, she has her own life and everything. :3 And, I'd rather everyone call me Wolfie then my real name - I have nothing against my real name, it's just... I like Wolfie better.
-
It all started with Felidae (the movie). I saw in the Wiki that there was a character named Sacha, or something like that. They pronounced it like "Sasha". As some may know, my Fursona's name is Saischa, however it is pronounced "Sai-shay". They're pretty similar, but pronounced differently. I guess it stuck because i like complicated names x3
Aaaand boom goes the dynamite.
-
I was just randomly started making up these names and then I found a nice name Rin but I changed up the way I spelt it at first and made it as "Rynn"
Find me in game xXGalaxywolfXx
Rynn~
-
Most of my names are just jumbled letters that I can pronounce. xD I'm not big on the whole common name thing.
-
I got Darkky from a Youtuber I like watching and most othes are just random and I got Queen BattleBlock from Battle block theater :3
-
Easy enough for me; wolf quest. Yknow, that ol game? XD it was actually the reason I found out about FH! And a lot of other games!
-
For names I usually either go on 2000Names.com or just look up words in other language... Astuzia is "cunning" in Italian.
-
~Think of random names (Like Turtle)
~Use a Swahili name from Google Translate (Usually for my lion characters such as Tulivu and Dikteta)
~Put random letters together to form a word
Turtle is just from me thinking Squirtle was cute, learning it was a Pokemon and getting yelled at, and then changing it to Turtle because that's also cute.
-
Well, Brandy is an interesting story.
I've got a dog called Brandy which was called Collie at first, but because she drank a little puddle of Brandy vodka spilt on the floor one night, we called her Brandy.
I just think it's unusual, so that's how it was born.
-
Mmn, well Seifer was originally Tiger Tooth, based off Tigerstar >.<. His name change to Seifer was just because I was playing a game and fought a character named that. I thought "oh, cool name!" And, thus, Tiger Tooth became Seifer.
Atrox is the last word in the scientific name for the western diamondback rattlesnake, crotalus atrox.
Sonne is the German word for sun. He is the bright, courageous one.
Asche is German for ashes. Tiny and frail, he is as delicate as an ash pile in his current pup state.
-
I actually got the name Noire from one of my favorite video game characters. I adored her character and fell in love with her name, so I decided that I would use the name for my fursona.
-
My fursona, Jake's name came from an old deceased dog of mine who's name was Jake.
He was a smaller dog, like a pillow size, real friendly to my bigger dog, Zeus.
So, I created Jake, since Zeus didn't fit the story, and Jake sounds more friendly.
(No offence to the lighting bum *points to the sky*)
-
Just gonna say that I just got mine from...
Jumbling letters together and thinking of the word Kawaii.
So original right?
-
Well, to start off I like the name Scarlet and and was thinking of assassin names. But since none would fit the name Scarlet all that well, I chose 'Death' since it did fit then I used the brackets as a space :3.
-
Just gonna say that I just got mine from...
Jumbling letters together and thinking of the word Kawaii.
So original right?
Some of the BEST names are made that way!
I have always been known for my love of owls many years before FH was even born. I was known as Nightsoar by tons of people, then people started calling me Owly, it wasn't until I got to Feral Heart with the username Phantom Owl that more people called me it, so I adopted the username Owly. So people named me other creative [pretty awesome] nicknames, but Owlus was what struck me the most. So when I got the account Owlus, [plus some not so great things happening with Owly's account] I switched over to Owlus. [I use Owly's forum account because why not]
-
One of my characters had a long-running gag involving fish for about six or seven years of constant roleplay. Started plonking various words in front of it and went through a number of different names-- forsakenfish, skullfish, dreadfish before eventually settling on 'Crookedfish'. Lo and behold, it was already taken-- but Crookfish was not. It ended up sticking-- both as my internet identity and as my persona's name! :D
-
I got Bane from Bane from the Batman series.
-
I was drinking Snapple when registration opened
SO
I was like
Well SnappleApple is coot owo
so on thing led to another...
and this monkey fuzzbutt was born
-
I got my sona's name from when I started playing chatlands, my name used to be wolfytolbert and I started growing a bit tired of it so I decided to would create a new name. Well unfortunatly for me I didn't know how to properly spell 3 years ago so instead of getting 'Blizzard' I got 'Blizzerd' instead but I liked it more since it sounded more the way it should (Even though I had spelled it wrong xD ) I only added the extra 'd' at the end for use of playing MC and I REALLY love the winter, blizzard's being my favorite storm of the year so now here I am telling people that I intentionally spelt my name wrong but I don't mind as I had expected it :3
-
Ah here we go,
Okay, my sona name is Nyx.
I've had this character name for about 2-3 years. It's also my nickname.
Nyx is the greek goddess of the night.
I've gotten used to calling myself Nyx too xD
But some of my friends call me/her Nyxie, Nyxie Wyxie, Nyxie Pixie, Nyxasaur, And wyndnyxie.
I've been told I look like her by my older brother and I was like "huh okay cHAR TIME"
and that's how Nyx was made c:
-
My fursona's name, Nocturne, is the French word for nocturnal. But also, it is related to my dA username, VideNoctuam, which translates to restless owl. -scoots away-
-
I simply got my fursona's name, Kiki, by shortening up my username x3 (The creation of my actual username is a completely new story)
-
The fursona I want to finally get the chance to use and make it my main would have to be EDM, the leader of the Good Vibe Tribe and an amazing DJ Wolf. He is super sassy and fun to be around but I got the name as it's the short term for Electronic Dance Music which is the music he plays so it makes sense, right?
