Title: How do I get started with Blender for FH?

Been meaning to ask, but can't find anything specific.
How do I get started with Blender for FH? Specifically making, or at least exporting custom items and objects. I have some items I really want to try to make, but no one has the time to do it so I figure I should learn myself! for experience as well :)
Specifically, for example, I want to take a preexisting model
Say a elephant model used in Feral Hearts(its already a FH object file) and crop the ears and trunk, drag them/resize them over the ferline model so I can make a elephant.
How would I get about doing that? is there a tutorial for this kinda thing? How would I get the files working in FH?

Also I should say, I haven't opened Blender since I was 8. I don't even remember what it looks like... so I'm negative beginner LOL

Thank you! that was very helpful for beginning, but do you know if there are any specific tutorials for exporting and importing items? thanks!

omg!!!!! can't remember ever seeing that(I might've and forgotten) thank you so much!!
Wanted to know, I've been trying to convert a animation to work with 1.17 so I can do it myself in the future, I asked around but haven't gotten any replies... what happened to the tutorial thread here? it seems to have been privated
