How do I get started with Blender for FH?

Been meaning to ask, but can't find anything specific.
How do I get started with Blender for FH? Specifically making, or at least exporting custom items and objects. I have some items I really want to try to make, but no one has the time to do it so I figure I should learn myself! for experience as well
Specifically, for example, I want to take a preexisting model
Say a elephant model used in Feral Hearts(its already a FH object file) and crop the ears and trunk, drag them/resize them over the ferline model so I can make a elephant.
How would I get about doing that? is there a tutorial for this kinda thing? How would I get the files working in FH?

Also I should say, I haven't opened Blender since I was 8. I don't even remember what it looks like... so I'm negative beginner LOL

Wanted to know, I've been trying to convert a animation to work with 1.17 so I can do it myself in the future, I asked around but haven't gotten any replies... what happened to the tutorial thread here? it seems to have been privated
