Title: Popular Item Packs In FH

I love downloading item packs, but my huge problem with them is the fact that in order for me to see them on other players, they have to have the exact same item codes in the exact same place in the items.cfg as I do, and honestly, what are the odds of that?! I may be wearing caribou antlers and a pearl necklace, but another player may see me as wearing a rainbow necktie and jack'o'lantern mask, and I may see that player as carrying four different keyblades in his/her mouth. I personally find this a little frustrating.

Which brought me to thinking, "What if in the next official game patch, all of those popular item and marking packs that everybody's downloading were officially integrated into the actual game and item.cfg (with the item/marking pack creators' permissions of course, and proper credit given where it's due), like the wings and Santa hats? That way, there would be a universal items.cfg that everybody would have, so we would all be able to see each other's proper items!"

Comment and share your thoughts! I'd love to hear all of your guys' opinions!  ;D

And if I'm not making any sense, I'll be happy to try and clarify.

Several of the popular item packs contain items from copyrighted games. If we put those in, FH could get in trouble.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If anything, someone who has ALL the item packs released and all the items people had made could distribute their items.cfg. That would be a lot easier.
So, even if people just wanted a few items, they wouldn't need to download them all.

Several of the popular item packs contain items from copyrighted games. If we put those in, FH could get in trouble.
I honestly don't think that would be an issue since they don't claim copyright for it and you don't have to pay them to play the game.

The forehead gems are texturable. You can retexture them by using anything from the GemMat file.

Personally I would love to see some of these items be incorporated in the next patch! One of the other issues I dislike is not being able to share your preset with everyone else easily (even if its really cool)... But there isn't really any solution to that as far as I know. It would be cool to paint on the creation model directly in the program, so instead of adding markings you could use brushes instead... That's a whole different idea though.

I get tired of telling someone, for example; "Cool Bubble!" but they really have saber teeth, and then they think I'm weird XD. And it hate it when people get mixed up with my items. If we all had the same coding, the wouldn't have this problem.

Huh. This is... actually, I rather like this idea. However. I don't see it as being very realistic in practice. Mostly because the collaboration on a project like this would be huge. Not to mention the fact that, with every update someone has to their own pack, it has to be updated on that list and then people would need to redownload this list and there may be requests all over the place for people to add/remove their items from said list and copyright issues and so on and so forth.

On the side note of the items being stored publicly on server, as some people have pitched the idea about all presets being able to be seen, that would use up a lot of storage, which would require a bigger server which would require a lot more money. This could mean needing to buy a membership, which was highly frowned upon when the official poll for that went out on presets.

Good concept, sketchy in practice. But I don't know, maybe we can in fact get things working...

I'll try to help you out with that. First, you find a thread that offers an item pack for download, like this one. Next, you download it. Click on the item pack and download/save it anywhere you'd like on your computer.

Then you extract the files wherever you downloaded/saved them (in Windows, you left-click and select 'Extract All'). Next, you find the folder in the item pack called 'Items'. Put ALL of those files in Computer>FeralHeart>Media>Items.

Once that's done, you'll see a file called a ReadMe in the item pack. Those contain the codes for the items which will enable you to use them in-game. Also, in your main FeralHeart folder, you'll see a file called items.cfg.

Open the ReadMe and the items.cfg. Copy/paste the codes from the ReadMe into the items.cfg. Save the items.cfg and you're done!

However, to make things easier, the item pack I linked you to comes with its own items.cfg, so you don't have to copy/paste all those codes. Just drag the items.cfg from the item pack into your main FeralHeart folder and save it over your old items.cfg.

I would love to see this added. It is annoying when only certain people can see your items.

Several of the popular item packs contain items from copyrighted games. If we put those in, FH could get in trouble.

Like Galiou said, i don't think it would be an issue aswell because they cant claim copyright. And even if so, then why not just make different items not from other games and put them in. Like a bandana or headphones, for example

Practical idea I'd really love to see added in.
Its for this very reason that I've been restrained to Delay and Ringo's item pack, simply because the confusion is just a turn off.

I think it should be added in in the next patch, absolutely.

I actually recommend Ringo&Delay's Item Pack. It's one of the most commonly used on FH, so the possibilities of confusion are relatively slim compared to other item packs.

 This is actually a topic I thought of starting because it is a well known negativity of adding items. I am so glad I have found this and that I am not the only person who dislikes the item confusion. But like Crin said, it would require a larger capacity server, therefore costing our generous server hosts more money.
