oh dear
basically my problem is that FeralHeart keeps crashing after maybe a few minutes of playing, then it takes forever for me to get back into the game cause it crashes when i try to load a character for a few tries
that's how it was for a few days, and today it's more often crashing as i try to use the character selection, so i can't really get into the game
i'm not sure if it's anything to do with my antivirus, cause it really doesn't like the exe file (keeps trying to delete it...), or if it's something else
very unfortunate, and i know nothing of technology so i don't really know what to do
i wanna join a group at some point but i can't really do that if i crash every few minutes ;;
sorry if this is hard to understand at all, i'm real bad at explaining things
but hopefully there's a solution

I would try a few things
1. Right-click the FH icon and run it as an administrator
2. Either when you get the prompt when starting the application or on the main menu, click options > video and change your rendering system to either OpenGL or DirectX
3. After both of those or if there are issues, restart your device
Report back if this helps/or still persists

aa, took a bit for me to get back to this but uh
i tried all 3 of those, and after the third thing i was able to play a little longer, but it still crashed after a while
deeply unfortunate, and i still don't know what the problem could be
FeralHeart's never done this when i played it years ago (to my very limited memory), so i am very confused

There could be a chance that the antivirus is effecting it, so you could always try seeing if disabling that works out or not. If that is not the case, check out the FHLog file and see what that says about the crashing. Sometimes it could be something as small as a missing file, so that might be able to help you out further.

it might be something with the log, idk
i disabled my antivirus and even reinstalled the entire game, but it somehow got worse
now i'm lucky if i can even load my character (forgive me arrival chat)
the log's saying this:

Okay. If you have. Try checking your particles file. It should be in media if I remember correctly. If any of the particles have _0 or _1 on the end, delete them and then try to booth up fh.
Also, have you restarted your computer? I had a similar problem and it took me restart my my own computer to fix it. I hope this helps. ^ ^;;

Hey, I'd recommend checking out your terrains file in the FeralHeart>Media>Terrains>Default. Someone else with a similar issue found out that it was something in there that was messing up the game.

When you did a new install, did you delete the old one first?

yeah i've done all of that, restarting my laptop, checking my files, deleting literally everything related to FeralHeart (twice), it's still crashing
there's nothing wrong with my files, that i can see, and nothing i do seems to work
at least before, i could play for a few minutes, now i'm lucky if i can last just one minute with the game up. no loading a character necessary, it still crashes regardless
i really don't know what's going on, no other game has had this problem before so i have no idea what to do

Is it allowed through your firewall? I see you tried disabling your antivirus and yet it still was having issues. :o

i've made it so my antivirus ignores it now, yeah, cause before it would simply delete the new .exe file without telling me it was doing so, or outright stopping me from downloading it entirely
stopped it from doing that, even turned the entire thing off for a few tries, but it still crashed
running it as administrator doesn't work either, it keeps crashing with everything i try
i guess the game really doesn't want to be played ;'D

What does the game put in your FH.txt? It can be found in the FeralHeart folder.
Also, does a badfile.reminder file show up in the FeralHeart folder?

i've no idea what it means but obviously something's going on there?
and i don't see anything about a badfile.reminder thing, i looked (even used the search function to make sure i didn't miss it) but nothing like that's in the folder

Did you try to delete your feral heart, disable anti virus and download the game again? If not you should try that and see if it works.

i've tried disabling my antivirus and redownloading the game, yeah (disabling it's the only way it lets me download the new .exe file tbh)
it doesn't make any difference
in fact the first time i did that, it made the crashing worse to the point where i simply cannot play anymore

Yeah, the FH.txt doesn't have anything to do with it. Sorry.
No badfile.reminder means it's not any of the files causing it... hmm...
Does the patched exe say it's size is 721 KB?

i'm thinking i might try uninstalling the legendary items and markings later to see if they have something to do with it

okay it's been two whole days but i've finally tried getting rid of the legendary markings and items
it... still crashed after a while, so that wasn't the problem
but if it's not that, then why is it crashing?

Did you remove the items and markings by only deleting them or by replacing the markings.cfg and items.cfg back to the original state?

Maybe try to search FHlog file?

what i did with the markings and items was completely uninstall FeralHeart again and simply didn't reinstall those two afterwards
and i don't think the log file's a problem, since i showed it before and no one mentioned any problems in it

Yeah I don't think the log file will help you any further. You have tried changing your rendering, right? I do apologize if you have already tried this though.

yeah, using either rendering thing doesn't stop the crashing unfortunately
i'm just wondering what the problem could be, since nothing we've done so far seems to fix it

There could be a background program that is messing around with it.

what kinda program would do that? i have no idea, so idk where to look
no program messed with it before, and i still have the same laptop from when i played it years ago, so i'm not sure what program's changed to mess with it
going through my task manager and getting rid of random things would be what i would do, but i know that that's most likely not a good idea at all so i don't know where to start

I just realized, I'm having the same issue too! This could be another server issue. :o

Posibly, I haven't fixed this problem and I don't think this is the item or markings' fault, it won't let me access other maps without crashing every 5-10 seconds, just it will let me stay in the grounds and no other place.

My problem is exactly like StarryNights'. Can only stay on FH for a few minutes before crashing

Mine's kind of both of you but it just happens in other maps such as seaside grove,eastern pass,etc..

OKAY! i have discovered that i have absolutely no brain
but i fixed my FeralHeart!
turns out the problem was that my cmain.material file... wasn't even in my FeralHeart folder? i don't know how that happened, cause i reinstalled the game like 5 times at this point and it never gave me that file? i'm so confused
but! case closed! my FeralHeart is fixed!
at least i think so, it didn't crash within minutes this time, but i couldn't wait for a long time to check because i have things i need to do
i cannot believe the solution was that simple

hey there starry. i've been having the same problem as you. i thought about posting help but since i saw you and a few others have it with no available fix, i just, im hoping that the staff will find something to fix it; it cant be our feralhearts, it cant be our computers, it has to be something in the new file that's messing it up. i really hope they can figure it out or bother to fix it (i mean this in the kindest way), because honestly, before this update, i NEVER crashed. never. i only had issue when entering a big map, but then could get on right after. never crashed; a very solid FH and computer. but after this update, not a single moment can pass without crashing. it makes no sense.. i dont even bother to log on because i barely can. i cant even sit idly in my login screen without a crash. it's so weird.. im sorry to everyone experiencing this. i really am, i hope you all find a fix. i hope i do too. i hope i can play fh again.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that one of the staff members said the issue has been brought up to Raz - don't quote me though!

i've come back to this because the game's still not letting me play
i decided to try both rendering systems to see if there are any differences and i noticed that the direct one let me play for the longest while both my attempts at the opengl stopped as soon as i tried to enter as a character, though that may be because i didn't wait for long before trying that one out
i don't remember either names fully so i hope i got them somewhat right
nothing's changed since last i tried, everything still crashes
which is deeply unfortunate, my friend and i were starting up a new group together before all this started happening again
i hope it can get solved soon, i really don't wanna miss out on the party whenever the new date comes up

I found a possible fix! Go to Windows Settings and click Update and Security and make sure your update to date. If not up to date that's why! I updated and the crashing went away somehow :o

i've just tried updating everything i could on my laptop but,, it still crashed 😔
i was hoping it could've been not updating it, since i basically never bother doing that, but yeah,, no,,
's either a problem with the game itself or it's some unknown issue with my laptop that i still can't figure out yet
it was working before though, but i don't know what's different from when i first started playing again to when the problems first started up
what else could cause the game to just crash every few minutes? i'm all out of ideas and i'm not too full on hope anymore

Yea, I'm still crashing too :| I can only stay in Eastern Pass unless I move foward, then I crash :o
This has to be a server issue because no matter what we do, it crashes either way

I was about to ask for PC specs but if so many people are having issues then it does seem like more of a server thing. If I am not mistaken this issue was forwarded to Razmirz, but I am not 100% sure about that - I might've just been seeing things.
If you haven't already, if you contact a staff member then they should be able to let Raz know for y'all.
The only thing that I could say could POSSIBLY help would be to use a completely different computer.

If that's the case it seems like all you could do is contact staff and wait. :( That is a pretty jank solution though, so I'll look around and see what I can find to try to help y'all. Since you updated your computer have you changed anything? Downloads, more updates, settings, etc.?

Lately it seems like everyone is having problems with feral heart but me :C, the only issues i ever had was failing to connect with the front server but last time i had it, it seemed to be the server itself and it was fixed when the new patch came out, so, yeah :<, i hope you will be able to play again soon, dont give up!, i was hopeless too when i could not get into the game, also, i have seen someone with similair issues like you!, they also could only stay for a little while on the game and then crash, and they have the same type of error with the water files, it seems like the water in this game is having a party lately

okay,, update on this i guess
it's been a bit but uh
so i tried uninstalling and reinstalling it again and,, well,, i've played for about half an hour now without crashing so.. maybe it's fixed? for now?
i'll update if it's not the case soo probably don't lock it yet ^^'

nope, one moment i'm chilling and the next the game just closes
no error message, no popup, for an example of how it looks, it's like i pressed the x in the corner to close it
but i definitely didn't, that's just an idea of how it goes
i swear i am going to fight this game

Try changing your rendering system, somehow that worked for me, and we have the exact same problem. Change to OpenLG if you have Direct3D9

changing rendering's never really worked, though it flip flops between them itself sometimes when i open it again
it seems that to get it to work for at least an hour, i need to uninstall everything and reinstall it, then i can play for a bit
but like,, i don't wanna do that every time it crashes ya know? be annoying to do it more than once
currently trying without the markings and items downloaded to see if that changes anything, though i can't remember if i tried before

If you are using preset sync or have presets installed and even one of the preset files is corrupt, when the player with that preset enters the map you are in it will cause a crash. I had that happen before.

's definitely not that... the only preset i have is my own and it certainly isn't corrupted,,
i've had 2 versions of it already, be weird if both were somehow corrupted
and i don't have preset sync either, read somewhere it doesn't work right with the new update so //shrug

i've tried without the legendary stuff downloaded, so basically no mods at all, and it still crashes
so it's not anything ive downloaded
just the game being funky
this thread's already gettin' long but i am no closer to solving this thing

i tried downloading the media folder from that just now, and other than somehow losing a character to the void (??) it worked for a little while but ultimately crashed again
so it's not the media folder? i guess? idk what else to try to download from there so,,

How much time now it let you stay in game?

'm not entirely sure cause i didn't time or anything, uh
well i started it somewhere around the beginning of 12, and it crashed almost at 1:20
so about an hour and a half i think
that's not long enough to do much of anything unfortunately,, so i'm still unable to really play

There wasn't any pop-up message? Or bright screen? Just quick freeze and crash od something like this in random moments?

nah, all it does is close suddenly
no freezing or anything, it's just gone
nothing pops up afterwards, but it does crash way, way sooner for a short while after a crash
like, i open it immediately after it crashes and it doesn't even stay open for ten seconds before it's gone again
i gotta wait a while before i try again

Ahhh, I understand. I really don't know what more you can do, heck. But tell me, do you have open antivirus? Maybe it is its fault?

the only problem with my antivirus i've been aware of was it simply not allowing me to download the new .exe file at all, deleting it before i get the chance
once i finish what i'm doing right now, i'll see what happens when i play the game with it completely disabled, if that changes anything
honestly whenever we solve this it's gonna feel so strange
just cause it's been so long now with nothing working so far

Do you have any other IT servers? How much RAM left on your computer? And is it possible to diffrent apps crash your game?

nah, i don't have any other games like that, don't really bother since i'm too scared to play any other than feralheart :')
i,, vaguely know what RAM is but i have 42.8 GB free atm, out of like,, 222 GB,,
if that's what RAM is,, i have 0 knowledge of computers
no other games or apps crash like this, tmk, at least not as frequently
like, skyrim crashes a bit, but that's mostly cause it's skyrim and i've modded it to heck, and i can get back into it immediately so it doesn't matter

If you send your crashes from the log.txt file, they might be able to fix it in the next patch of FH

No, not the FH.Log that one's usually not exactly correct. The other log. The one that just says "log"
