                                                  One night as the Star lay fast asleep,
                                                            Into her drowsy eyes
                                                      A great still light began to creep
                                                           From out the silent skies.
                                                  It was the lovely Moon's, for when
                                                         She raised her dreamy head,
                                                   His surge of silver filled the pane
                                                      And streamed across her bed.
                                                 So, for a while, each gazed at each-
                                                       The Star and the Solemn Moon-
                                                   Till, climbing slowly on his way,
                                                     He vanished, and was gone.
