  I think this might be the wrong place for this... It isn't a  thread asking for help, and I'm not asking for something to be added or removed, so it's nlt a sggestion or idea. So I figured this was the best place, so hopefully I am right XDD

  Has anyone else noticed sudden ads popping up every where? I came on today and random words in posts were underlined, and when the mouse went over them an advertisement popped up. I was fine with that, I can avoid rolling teh mouse over, but then suddenly an ad popped up. you know on deviantart when you are not logged in you get sent to a page that is just an advertisement and you have to click continue to get to the page you were on? That was what popped up. And as i was scrolling through a thread one of those annoying corner ones that you can't just scroll past because it scrolls with you popped up.

  I mean, I'm used to the usual small ads in between posts, those are fine, they're even funny sometimes, but it is a little ridiculous when a logged in member has to hit skip on an ad to get to a thread.

And when it came up i was like  :o
Never seen that before.........very weird
I guess people want to advertise there products on as much sites as possible  :-\
Dosn't bother me that much anyways   ::)

Whew, I started running a virus scan and everything thinking I caught something, glad to see everyone else is getting them too.

My first thought was "What the heck? Did I accidentally go on FFN instead?"

Usually I see these kinds of ads in places where the pop up to keep the site free. It's really unusual to see them here, especially for users who are logged in. It's got me curious as to why, but it doesn't really bother me that much. I'm used to just skipping over an ad.

I worry about viruses only when I click a link on google and it takes me to something completely different, like a faulty search engine. > >"

Yarp, you're not the only one. I've been seeing them too (as well as a lack of any mods/admins online the past couple days... it scares me.)

 oh.

  And the advertisements have been cut down, I was talking to Raz the other day and teh pop up ads have been limited to one every 24 hours (Before they were very frequent) and the number of rollover ads have been reduced as well, and rather than green (which stood out too much in my opinion) they are yellow. Also, the thing that was putting malicious ads up has been removed, so there shouldn't be any worry about virus's anymore.

Ya know what, just as I was about to post on this thread, a random add popped up saying "FeralHeart is brought to you today by.."

First of all, what? That's a lie. Not unless it's been premitted by the forum owners would an ad be used as a sponser to FeralHeart. It's just a simple ad. It makes it feel like fanfiction.

Yeah, I'm annoyed by ads finding ways in by choosing words and underlining them. Why, when I was working on my art thread on here, I noticed some of the words in my post underlined with advertisements.

Whenever I post now, my custom user title usually always has "Poison" underlined. Who google-ads for Poison? XD

It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many... I get them in bursts, so I either have none or a whole bunch which run me off the site for awhile.

Curious. Are those users who see the ads running Explorer or Chrome, perchance?

There is an add-on for Mozilla Firefox called "Noscript". It blocks all scripts (such as ads) and only allows what you choose to allow.

I have not encountered any of these ads but I see the new sites for them listed in my block list.

Something to consider, maybe?

That was a very informative article, now I'm not so annoyed by 1000 ads opening up and having the click close, because it helps keep us up and running!

I have add blocker and I usually turn it off to keep the game free so when I went to turn it off it said "Blocked items on this page 17 out of 153" O_O

These ads have been popping up everywhere. >.<
I've kind of been avoiding the site recently because of them.. AVG had a warning pop up about threats on the current page the first time I encountered the new annoying ads...

As mentioned earlier in the thread though, there was a bad pick of the ads put in/on the site which isn't in the rotation anymore.

No need to worry anymore I'd say, but we really do excuse for this in the first place.

When I was viewing a thread, suddenly the page turns white and it says " Feralheart is provided by VIDEO FLASH PLAYER UPDATE. "
It just... completely changed the page right there. o _ o

I'm pretty sure one of those adds gave me a virus. Cause I got hit with one not soon after it popped up. It was partailly my own fault cause I hadn't updated my firewall in months but still. Luckily my dads a computer tech and fixed my computer quickly o3o

Those kind of ads are simply JavaScript, most cannot give you any viruses, so I doubt it was the website viruses. However, if it was a advertisement from this site, than that is a very poor move on the admins part to just allow any ad on the sites.

i recently started getting like, a gajillion ads on this site. Normally, i only get those little banners at the bottom of each page. I think it's the new chat, its probably supported by ads.

LOL, A shopping website put a LINK to their shopping website in my SIGNATURE. What the heck is up with that!? It's the nom nom nom thing underlined. I do not see how that got there, yet FH has some things to explain with that....

I don't think you understand how the ads work. They taget key words on a page and create ad links. FH didn't put an ad in your sig, the site targets text when you load a page.

It's not the chat, the ads were here before that. The ads are to help pay for the site and keep it free.

Well, then it's youtube. Because Im not looking that up anyways... I try and watch my videos in peace, but then I see them and I have to go back to whatever else i was listening/doing or refresh a MILLION times

aww mousies biting tha letters!
i've seen a tad less ads around now. There used to be like, tons of playpickle ads embed in tha words, i dont see those anymore. And theres no more shopping links embed in people's sigs, and tha flash player update don't pop up anymore. This is kinda wierd. I mean that at one point the comp is addless then its like GTHJBGF with ads, then its back to addless. this happen to anybody else?

Weird, I havent shopped for metal detectors in a few years. Cant remember the last time I looked up dingos either.

Yeah, I have seen ads take over the windows. Expecaly on MediaFire.

Inappropriate ads. 0~0 Creepy.

I think they show ads to kid vulnerable sites. Kids click on them, and poof, VIRUS!

I give up. I might as well just lock it if people are going to continue posting in this. The actual ads this was talking about have been TAKEN DOWN

The ads would be entire screen pop ups and at least 10 - 20 ads embedded into words per page. And the ads are now prety much unnoticable, almost back to the way they were before I posted this thread.

If I was rude, sorry, but this thread is irrelevant to ANYTHING now, so it can never be necro'd for any good reason. Necro's are only acceptable when it is for an important update or something like that.

  the scrolling over ads have been reduced, to almost none. I'm sure you don't get up to 20 per page any more. And those scrolling over adds were COMPLETELY different ones.

I feel like a totaly numb now -.- I am going to work on  coding meh forum ...adios
