Title: Fix to FH keyboard crashing [try2]

Everyone who has a different keyboard layout than english noticed that some keys makes the game to crash.

There are 2 ways to fix it:
-Changing the keyboard layout to english
-Try to use the program I made.

I made a simple Autohotkey script to avoid to you to write these "bad" crashing characters,
This should make you to have less crashes (I hope so).

If you get an error like "hotkey not valid", please tell me what line number is the error and what keyboard layout are you using.
Im creating scripts for each keyboard layout on request.

First download one of these depending on your keyboard layout:

Then save it at C:\FeralHeart
Run the program FHkeyfix.exe and then FeralHeart will open, and a icon will apear in the taskbar.

The script will help you to avoid to crash when you press by error one of the crashing keys, but may still crashing on some keys combinations.

Note: Probably you will need to change the camera speed buttons for the F3 mode.

Im still trying to find the reason of why is not working with you, i have a barely idea of why.
I tested on 3 computers myself, and worked for avari too.

I never got so upset.
I worked 4 days hardly for this and only got 2 Downloads (from the 2 people who helped to test).

This happens to me, I just ignore, I learned that if you click ^ it will make a question mark xD it's a good way to test, just click that and if it isn't a question mark you are fine, if it is then you will crash xD

It's a shame that in 21st century, a game that uses unicode strings to store all internal text data, still handles keyboard input in 7-bit ASCII. I hate you, C++!

o: Well with tweaks to the game's code keyboard input method could be adjusted. xD All programming languages are fine by me... except Lua e.e ~ For now.

Since FH staff does not have a way to touch game source code and just kovulkd can, this is the only way i found to fix that.

My guess is Windows, since neither Mac or Linux support native .exe files, and Linux WINE might encounter deficiencies with this kind of script.

Most likely yes will be windows, but i want to know what windows version is, XP, vista, seven, or using wine?
Since i already tested the script on 7 different computers myself, and worked fine in all the computers.

Maybe cause i do not use it at the usuall place? I dont have it on C..

Actually I still trying to find why the script does not run with some people computers, but i have no idea.
I did a triple check, it works on all computers of my school (windows XP, vista and seven). Im sorry if did not worked and i will try to fix it.

Maybe its the antivir stuff or so? But i dont get a message telling me that one program is blocking it.

It does not start by saying "Error on line 22, line not valid" or something like?

I suspect it is related to the system language or the source code script encoding.
But first, I really need to find a computer where it does not work to make tests.

Thanks for the screenshot Tigg, it given me an idea of what is happening.
seems like the script does not work on certain keyboards layouts.
Now i should do a different script for each keyboard layout :/

If you want to help me testing this new script and to tell me if it works fine or not, i will give you a hug.
Should work perfect for German of Germany layout.

That's because it doesn't register the key, as far as I know that A umlaut is probably only used for typing and not directions or anything like that.

hi guys! i really need help with a feral heart download problem, before when i downloaded on my computere it crashed on my computer 2 times, and now i want to download it but i am afraid the same thing will happen again because i am using my mom's computer if its crashed again she will kill me....its LENOVO that i am using now will it be safe to download it? my computer was a different type my was SNSV witch was crashed and cannot be used..... PLEASE!!! help me as fast as possible all i want to know that if its safe to download!!!!

No offence but I honestly can't understand a word you're saying, also don't post in unrelated topics about it, be patient! XD Hope you can find a solution

I did not understud neighter, no way to help like that.

The patch does not show any keyboard in the screen, it just supress any keystroke that makes your game to crash.
I will be doing the portuguese keyboard fix as soon as i can, but now im busy, so probably the next week will be done.

Thierry I wanted to say thanks because you toke time out of your day to help people with all these problems with the game crashing and allowed others to now have a easier way to get on feral heart and have fun. Although I don't know you well, I feel that you should at least be told that, even if the individuals who are helped aren't even me.

I just added Portuguese patch, tell me about any trouble you get.
All keys are safe, but you will need to change the camera hotkeys.

EDIT: I scanned it with avira and it says it may damage my computer... is it true?

Avira makes many warnings about possible threats and make many false alarms, the program i posted its made by me using autohotkey who its a trusty program an my computer is clean, and you shall trust the fluffy lion ;)

But sometimes the internet and the adds are tricky and makes you to download the wrong file (by intercepting the true download with fake download buttons).

So be sure the program you are trying to run is called FHkeyfixPT.exe and has the FeralHeart logo or weights 822784 bytes (803KB), and then add the program to the trusty programs on your antivirus.

Tell me about any other question you may have.
