What is a Nautilus Fox?
A Nautilus Fox, or NF, is a canine species related to a common fox, often residing near bodies of water. They are often warmly colored, with big, oblong ears to help cool it down. Their waterproof fur is curly, and their teeth are long and sharp, to help catch fish. They have subtle webbing between their toes, each of which ends in a small, hooked claw for climbing and fishing. Their tails often double as powerful rudders, helping them swim.
They are a social species, often forming camps or villages in the lower canopy of trees near bodies of water. They build tools and clothing out of what materials are on hand, and large villages often have at least one talented artisan in their midst. Their nest are placed in trees, and are made of feathers, branches, and foliage, often decorated with found items.
A Fox chooses a mate that they stay with for life. A fox can give birth to around 2-4 kits at a time. The parent, or parents, will bring up minnows and small amphibians until the kits, now pups, are ready to leave the nest. The pups are taught several things by members of the village, and continue their lessons until adulthood.

Words literally cannot describe how cute I think this species is. The curly fur especially.

!!!! Thank you! This is really the most attention they have gotten aside from incoherent yelling in furry admino chats. You are free to make one if you wish, just run it by me!

I'd love to see a roleplay consisting of these!

Just a couple questions about this adorable species..
1) you mentioned they form villages. Is there a common ranking system the species as a while uses for said villages?
2) about how big do they get in relation to IRL foxes, and the fh scales?

1) you mentioned they form villages. Is there a common ranking system the species as a while uses for said villages?
2) about how big do they get in relation to IRL foxes, and the fh scales?
1) Usually one fox in charge, often with input from the rest of the village
2) adults are usually the size of a house cat, and very rarely get to the size of red foxes
Also, I'm editing the species to they live near most bodies of water in several climates, though warm climates are the most common,

This sounds like an absolutely adorable species. I adore aquatic species as their body features are rather delicate than their land counterpart. (:
