Title: Char Creation Screen Improvements
Post by: DylanCheetah on November 08, 2018, 10:29:11 pm
I think it would be very helpful to have a search/filter box above the markings and items lists.

The issue with a log of ideas regarding changes made to the actual game, is the fact that there is a source code needed to change a lot of things.
Not a bad idea though, who hasn't been shaking their fists at the FH item list when trying to find a specific thing.

To add on,

Adding the bigger item list mod would be very useful.
The item list page has enough space to make it larger.

Using something like Bigger item list mod - by  GreenDotStands (https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=64614.0) is so useful. I use it in my game, and whenever I update it, I always add the mod back. It makes finding items so much easier.

Has anyone come up with lots of characters? I thought that changing the character select screen like this would help people that have many characters:

I'm pretty sure they would need certain things to do major changes like this, which I am not sure that they have, sadly. However, it would be nice to have something like this!

What "certain things" do they not have? Are they missing source code or something?

Yes.

The source code is completely missing and has been missing for years, yes. A source code is the very foundation of any program. We cannot change the character screen as you are suggesting because of the lack of source code. It would require a different setup in the code. We can only really update with the tools we currently have: maps, textures, objects, and server-side changes. It's unfortunate but on the plus side we are able to change quite a bit without the source code. ^^

Also going to merge this topic with your other one. It's best to post under the same thread if it's the same idea. ^^

You have so many cool ideas, DylanCheetah!
I think these ideas are lovely & would be so cool to implement, if only we had that gosh-danged source code, haha.
But a floof can dream! :)

Thanks for answering my question Morgra and sorry about the extra topic. I thought that there was enough difference to warrant a new one.

I didn't realize that KovuLKD left and took the source code with him. I thought that he transferred ownership of the game to the staff and the source code was lost somehow.

But unfortunately, we don't have the rights needed to disassemble it. Otherwise we could probably recreate the source code.
