The game works perfectly fine with no lag until I choose start on the character select screen and it freezes and shuts the game off with the Windows error (Looking for Solution) box. What's going on?

That's weird. Sounds like your computer can't really handle the game. Try playing around with the graphics (video) options on the login screen. Lower all of the settings, turn water reflection off, choose the rendering subsystem that works better for you. If you're playing in full screen, try making the game windowed instead, or vice versa. Last resort would be to uninstall, delete the fh folder, and reinstall. Best of luck.

Great...Now whenever I try to load a terrain into the map maker is crashes like this. I've made everything the lowest of the low and it still bombs...Any ideas now?

try making sure that you Height mask is:
513x513 in size
Grayscale and not RGB
One layer only.
Not being one of these is the mast common cause for Mapmaker Crashes

Nothing and now the basic game isn't working again.

If the game isn't working because of the map you tried to make. Removing the files you just created(The map folder and possible other changes you made) should sort the problem.
If the game keep messing with you try the magical fix.
Uninstall completely>Download new installers>Reinstall with the new installers
try again.
The change of ingame settings and rendering submode should usually solve these problems though.

Removed all map filed from FeralHearts folder and retried with only that texture with no change. The game still shuts down. I tried both Rendering choices and both produced the same result. I tried uninstalling and re-installing to no effect. Now my other complete map isn't working and refuses to start. I've only broken a clan map in this process. What now? :'(

Did you actually try to run the map make in the reinstalled game before you placed your old maps into it again?
Cause ofter a complete reinstall the maps shouldn't be in the game.
If you run the game map maker after a Complete reinstall, and it still doesn't work. It would be something with the game.
If you were able to start the map maker after a complete reinstall WITHOUT having your maps installed, it would be the maps that you were making causing this crash.

I deleted all the map files out of the folder (saved them elsewhere) and uninstalled and reinstalled again. I ONLY saved the file, called SILVERRIVERTerrain.png, into the terrains folder. It still shut the game off. Do you want me to record what's going on with a video or something so you can check it >.>?

this happened to me a few times but it worked after i left the screen when it says its not responding

It doesn't go "Not Responding". It shuts down as soon as I press enter to load the terrain.

What I want you to try is to simply remove the png image you inserted into the terrains folder after the complete reinstall.
And you never said that you actually got into the map maker. So I'm rather certain it's the picture itself when you load it.try making sure that you Height mask is:
513x513 in size
Grayscale and not RGB
One layer only.

Follow that, if it still doesn't work, make the png image a .bmp then back to .png and it should work.

I got excited to see the image was RGB instead of Grayscale but even when I changed it there was no effect v.v. This really sucks :'(
P.S. I know you're trying to help and that makes me feel good that there's peoplez willing to help. I'm mad at my computer all the way >:( DIFFICULT PIECE OF CRAP!

Just try to make the terrain picture a .bmp or jpeg. Then save it. once that's done. Turn it back into a .png. Place it in the terrains folder, and try again. It should solve it.
