Sorry to bother anyone, if my problem happens to have an obvious solution, but I'm currently at a loss. :(
I've been looking for the past two hours for anything that would explain why all the user-made objects I download are white when I bring them up in the Object Maker, but I'm unable to find anything. Doesn't seem to matter which user I download from, the object always has a 'BaseWhite' in the Material bar. I follow the instructions in the read-mes, place all of the objects in My_Objects, and have tried all variations I can think of for the material file (objectnameMat, ObjectnameMat, ObjectNameMat, etc.), and nothing changes. I've even opened up the Material file for the objects in Notepad to see what name the file is, and that doesn't work either. Anyone know if I'm missing something or if I'm doing something wrong? I would use custom colors, but some of the users state in their rules that they do not want any modifications done on their mods...

Well not all mesh's come with a material texture. Some you would hav to choose a material texture thats already on FH like a tree bark texture or rock texture etc. Another reason is maybe the material texture is missing from the download link. Also the material texture isnt always the same as the object name, i downloaded a tree and the material was heaps of random words, symbols and numbers.
-
A lot of the objects I downloaded are from The Original Hammy, and they say that the material texture file is included on many of their meshes. How would I go about adding that to the object?
-
Ive downloaded a few mesh's from Hammy the only one im pretty sure was white is the Treeroot Den. Which one did u get?
-
I downloaded the Wisteria Vines, Cacti, Big Cliffs 1 and 2, Desert Rocks, Log3, and all of the tree meshes.
-
Well i downloaded the wisteria, all the trees and the tropical plants and they didnt show up white.
Try these typing these in the material boxes

Tried. Nothing still. D: I'll take your advice and ask Hammy. I sure hope I can get this figured out!

Jennifer:
First make sure that when you download that all items go into My_Objects. Also remember that capital letters DO matter when it comes to materials!
Another thing that might help is the link below, It will take you to a highly detailed introduction to the Object Maker. I hope this helps!

Sadly, I've already done all that, double-checked and triple-checked the spelling, gone over that tutorial, among others, multiple times, and even uninstalled and re-downloaded the game to see if it was an error somewhere. Perhaps I need to download something else? I have the latest version of the game, and while the Official Downloads page says that I don't need to download the patch if I have the most recent Game version, should I do so anyway?

well, i see this problem has gone so far.
Not all models load the correct material by default, i know. but if you can't assing manually the material, this can mean another kind of problem.
try to load one of my meshes, (all my meshes load textures correctly), for example try with this (http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/3/22/3100980/rectangulartable.zip).
if you don't see the table with the wood material, then put a screenshot of how do you see it, and also include the feline in the screenshot, with this screenshot a can tell you if is a video card problem.
if all loaded correctly can be something with the material scripts, normally i recomend to unistall and delete the feralheart directory and reinstall. but if you have already do this, i have no idea of what is.
also you can try with another computer to verify if it is a computer problem.

Hmm...Winrar says there are no files found in the table zip file. I'll go try one of your other meshes.
Okay. Weird. I downloaded the file on my older computer and it's just fine. Downloading the game now on the older computer to see if the files work.
-
what?, that is a odd glitch.
I downloaded the file right now and winrar has opened it with no problems.
very unusual.
Maybe is the antivirus blocking the download? (mcafee for example)

Yeah. McAfee keeps popping up alright (on my new computer anyway). I clicked "ignore" when it tried stopping me from downloading the file, but I guess now it's refusing to let me open the file.
Well, good news and bad news. The meshes WORK on my old computer, not my new computer. Unfortunately, my old computer can't make much else work. It's so slow I can't even log in. It was hard enough just getting into the object maker. I really need to figure out why the meshes don't work on my new computer (which is only 6 months old, was custom built).
-
OMG! Thank you so much, Thierry!! It was indeed the Mcafee. My old computer doesn't have it, and it got me thinking when the meshes worked fine on it, so I did some hunting and deleted the McAfee file on my newer computer, and now all the meshes work fine! Karma for you, dear! :D
