Title: Something Positive, Something Negative, improvement suggestions.
Post by: geezabeeza on October 10, 2011, 01:59:09 pm
Wasn't sure if I should post this in ideas or not, but I'm expressing my opinion much more than giving suggestions, so I've posted it here. Hope that's okay!

Anyway, thank goodness for the sliders in the Preset customization menu! I love that we've got the ability to customize the smaller attributes of a canine/feline (noses, chins, foreheads etc), it really comes in handy when you're making a feline character like a Cheetah, or a canine character like a Fox...

My suggestion to improve this is to add a feature that will automatically give your character the correct anatomy of the species you want it to look like.
For example, if I wanted to make a Tiger, I'd click "Feline" then go to "Species" and select "Tiger" and that would automatically give my character the anatomy of a Tiger, but still lets me go back and move the sliders if I wanted my tiger to be bigger or thinner.

Now for something negative, something I actually know nothing about.
It's great that we can customize our own maps with GIMP and Photoshop, but editing a 2D map for a 3D environment often brings about a problem... You can't create caves unless you draw two different maps, one set outside and the other set inside, then place a portal connecting the two maps together. I know that's not a problem for some of you, but for me it just seems to break the realism of the game.

My suggestion would be to add a simple tool that lets you punch holes into the sides of a wall... Is that possible at all? If it's not, ignore me XD I just think it would be nice to be able to edit the walls of a level just as much as you can edit the floor.

Overall, I'm enjoying Feral Heart and think it has great potential :D

This idea has potential for being added, yes, but this is what can be done by using a new map for entering caves, more work but you don't have to spend all time just perfecting a cave into one map. This sounds cool, imagine the lag due to rendering all these complex things in the map. Next update may bring this if ever to happen maybe.

Ahh, these are nice ideas, but it certainly would mean a lot more work with coding on the game, particularly for the Map Maker idea.

The problem is, the game (so far) only renders heightmaps from that 2D, grayscale image. To have the terrain overlap onto itself would probably mean adding an entirely new dimension to the way maps are made in FH, so I'm not quite sure how that'd work.

Either way, these are certainly some nice ideas~ Without Kov, though, I don't think there'll be any updates.

As everyone else has already stated, all this is indeed not possible without KovuLKD. And he has been incredibly inactive since december of 2011.

However I do really like the cave idea and think it would be an awesome feature to the game and also would give the game a much more realistic feel.
The anatomy option still a nice idea but I myself don't see it as necessary.
