Since the new patches, I have many problems with FH that I didn't have before. I have reinstalled the game four times since the first problematic patch came out. Downloading the patch will not fix these problems for me - downloading the patch only makes the game stop working completely...then I have to delete the game and reinstall it.
Here are the problems I'm having -
1) No water reflections. Settings don't seem to save when I check the reflection box.
2) Default emotes/expressions for new characters don't save, and don't change their expression in the create preview.
3) The ground everywhere is the same kind of grass. I noticed this when I downloaded some winter maps to use with my snow leopard character, and there was no snow in any of them. I tried changing the rendering subsystem, but as with the water reflection, it didn't save the settings and switched back to what it had been before.
4) Lag.
5) Crashes are extremely frequent, seemingly with no rhyme or reason, both in-game and when trying to start the game.
6) Some downloaded maps cause FH to crash if I try to enter them. I've never had any problem with any of these maps before.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Appearantly, You cannot change the settings outside of the game, Go in-Game, Go to settings, Video settings, Render Mode, and click the opposite of what you have on.
-
I do that, then it tells me to restart the game. I do so, and when I check the settings, its switched back.
-
i also have everywhere grass. ficho tunnel looks pretty green now!!
I didn't had any trouble before. it happend with the patch. it has to be a fault with that
-
I have exactly the same problem. I've got an older version of FH which works just fine, but of course, doesn't let me log in because it says I gotta download the patch, which turns out to be a step BACKWARD from the older version thanks to the glitch :|
-
I was happy when they said the map problem was fixed with the items that moved from map to map XD
though seeing everything is green grass is not that funny either ... but thank god already better then those unwanted jumping items
-
Can you tell me what has lag? 'Cause I think I know why it lags.
-
it's just that every terrain now has the african grass texture.
so Ficho Yunnel, who is normaly stone is now green ...
I don't know if it's also a mistake, but the water looks different then before.
(I had to stop with FH for a few months, but I am sure the water looks different now)

I'd try to install new drivers for your graphics card if possible in that case.
I have the same problem with the same type of soil everywhere. I also have problems with the textures of the characters that don't work right. Until one day they spoke that the problem is the "graphic card".
sorry my english! the google help me ;D
-
I guess I found the problem ... changing the rendering option
the only problem is
- with one option, you don't see the ground texture
- and the other option makes that my screen is blinking (my buttons disappear, the heads of my character disappear ...)

As mentioned above, that seems like a driver issue or outdated hardware.
Computers and the hardware that's within it works like any quality product out there, and as time passes by it looses it. Feralheart went through an ogre update, and it's possible that it changed a few things.
If you use a computer that's 5 years old there's some sort of issue that can arrive if you play a game that was made at current day(doesn't have to be though).
Since this is an issue about how your game are being rendered it wouldn't hurt to check if you by any chances could update your video card drivers for the computer. I update mine at least 4 times each year if not more often.
Not saying it must be the drivers for your graphics card, but updating it every once in a while never hurts.
-
my pc is not even 2 years old ... and I don't know how to update drivers
I asked my dad to update my graphic card, but there is no update.
my pc updates apparently from itself.
so ... it's not my graphic card ...
-
My computer is only 3 years old, they said the graphics card shouldn't need updating. I hope we figure out what's going on, I really cant play FH with the lag and crashes. I could live with the grass and reflection issues, but..
-
Driver update guys. New drivers sometimes arrive every month so 3 years without updating it is a long time aye.
-
I never said I didn't update drivers. My drivers are up to date.
-
You never said they were either xD
Just trying to help. Switch of rendering modes, lower ingame settings, driver updates and repatching maybe even a clean install of the game should do it.
-
Switching rendering modes doesn't work. The settings wont save.
Lower ingame settings help with the lag, but only a little.
Drivers are up to date.
Repatching makes the game not load at all.
Clean installs haven't helped, I've reinstalled at least 5 times since the "patches of doom".
This is so frustrating x______x

IT should work setting rendering modes. Try both using the ogre.cfg and open it with notepad, then set the rendering mode there.
It should always be able to switch one way or another especially if you go in the game, change rendering modes, then restart the game, if it doesn't change the rendering mode in that little box that pops up with settings after an ingame change, close it down and run the icon once again. Really try different things.
Cause if you aren't able to switch between two rendering modes, something is either wrong with the copy of the game you have installed or the computer itself not able to use the given rendering mode.
-
If I switch it in-game, it tells me to restart the game to save settings. I do so, and go back into the game settings, only to find that it didn't switch. Same goes for the water reflections.
I've tried switching rendering modes after reinstalling the game, so I guess its my computer.
I don't know how to use the ogre.cfg and set the rendering mode in notepad?
-
Open C:\FeralHeart
Inside there's a cfg file called "ogre". Open it with notepad and then set the top row of the text to the other rendering mode that's given inside of it.
-
That made the game full screen (but it was set on 600x800 video mode) but it didn't fix anything ._.
-
It seems like after I downloaded the Christmas Eve patch, its less laggy, but I still have the other problems (african grass texture everywhere, no water reflections, some maps crashing the game, some characters crashing the game, etc) The biggest problem that bothers me is that everywhere is grassy. I have the terrain/texture files, I don't know why they aren't working..but apparently I'm not the only one having this problem, and it started after the "patch of doom" for everyone else who has it too. x-x
-
Okay, so now the sky on some maps is showing up as pure white for no apparent reason ._.
-
I guess I'll try redownloading once again. Cant hurt...I hope.
Edit: Scratch that, game download wont work...says its forbidden, and I already deleted FH and emptied my bin. *facedesk*
-
Thanks for all your help Red (and everyone else who has tried!) but FH is becoming way more frustrating than fun for me, so for now, I'm going to stop playing and not reinstall.
