Title: How to make parts of presets transparent?

I know there are codes for making presets entirely translucent, but how do I make it so only certain parts of my preset are transparent? Without showing up as white? For example, if I had a character who was missing a leg, how would I make it so said leg does not show up? Or, an ear? That's not the case here, it's just the best way I can explain what I mean.

I tried looking around on the site and google but I couldn't find anything :(
