OK, I have clicked 'Has Portal', Exported, and go the files into the folder, I don't know how the FHO objects work... but I need help!
-
Ok, First off lets go through a small list
1) Exported from Map Maker?
2) Added a Portal to the Map?
3) Go to Cape Of Distant Worlds, and look for it.
If not found it just tell meh :3
-
Done all three. I myself can see the portal, but others can't. I do not understand WHY this happens -.-
-
you have maybe a just little bug , remove the portal , save and after added the portal and save . Return to the Cape Of Distants Worlds and try to find your map , I have ever met this problem but if you haven't your on the Cape I can't more help you ( sorry for my bad english , I m french ^^' :P ) Good Luck ;)
-
Did you put the coordinates where the portal's supposed to be?
The default ones are all 0s, so it's unreachable unless you set it.
-
OK, let's explain. I can see it. FRIENDS can't. I have the Co-Ordinates in
-
If you mean you want your friends to be able to go to your map, they have to download it.
if there are fho files those are items in your map, and you might want to include those in the download if you have meshes and stuff in the map.
other files to include (if there are any) :
.fhm (the map - Always need to be in there!)
.fho (items in the map. if there are meshes and stuff in the map, put those in, or your friends will NOT see the items)
.fhw (these are custom weather cycles I think. But beware, I've heard custom weather may crash other people.)
.fhs (these are custom skys (sp?). But beware, I've heard custom skys (sp?) may crash other people.)
Here is a full totorial from the "maps" section.
How to upload a map that YOU made, so other people can download it and explore it
Before you even start, make sure to press the 'export' button in mapmaker.
First, you must have a program called WinRar. This is a free and safe program, and you can download it Here (http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html)
Secondly go to My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > FeralHeart > Exports
In this folder, there will be files. The game has told you what it exported when you hit export. It definitely exported a '.fhm' file and one or a few '.fho' files, and possibly a '.fhs' and '.fhw' file. The '.fhm' file is the map info itself. The .fho is the objects files and info, the .fhs is the sky (if you put in a custom one) and the .fhw is the weather file (again, if you put in a custom one.) Drag all these files out onto your desktop. Right click on the .fhm file. Once you have right clicked on it, hover you mouse over 'send to' and then click 'Compressed (zipped) Folder'. A message might pop up, click yes. Then, drag all the other files into this zipped folder as well.
Next, go to Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/). You may create an account if you wish, but it's not compulsory. Upload the ZIP file you made to this website. When you've done that, post the link on your thread. People will now be able to download your map. There are other websites like Mediafire, such as Rapidshare.
How to download other people's maps and install them correctly
Click on the link posted on someone's thread and download the file to your computer. Save it on your desktop or anywhere else you wish. This file will most likely be a ZIP folder. If you're unable to open it, download WinRARp (http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html).
Once you open it, you'll fine a few files inside. The most important is the .fhm file.
Go to My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > FeralHeart > Exports. Drag ALL the files into this folder, unless otherwise instructed by the user's 'ReadMe' file (if included).

I agree with the above. To have your friends see the portal- Make sure the coordinates are entered in and you have exported the map. MAKE SURE TO SAVE BEFORE EXPORTING> and then go into your exports folder and copy all the files (you can tell this by the date) that you just exported and then upload them to like mediafire and have your friends download them and put them in their exports folder...and voila! They can see your map.

If what they said doesnt work...
I had the exact same problem, and the problem was I put the whole entire folder into exports, when you actually have to remove everything from the folder.
So if it says "put this folder in exports", you copy everything in the folder and place them in exports. Hope this helps ;)

I thought I sent a 'Problem Solved' Reply O.O. But it is Solved now and I am now willing to take on Requests

Hey I'm having trouble with a map by someone else......I put all the files in exports but it still won't show!!! Help! I also downloaded mass markings pack.......but there aren't any new markings!
-
My map is in cape, but its not an fhm file. How can I make it an Fhm file??
-
Grell, you ought to start a new thread for your problem, seeing as people will now think you've answered Cynder's and neither would get answered.
Cynder: You may need to put the map file under "FeralHeart>media>terrains". Make a copy of the .fhm file and do that, leaving one copy of the map where it is, under Exports. That sometimes works.
If this fails, ask whoever made your map if you need to put the files anywhere else (e.g. any .fho files under "FeralHeart>media>objects", etc.).
If others are having the same problem, ask your map maker to re-export their map.
Grell: First, you'll need to export your map. Under map maker, there should be the option to do so. After you've pressed the "Export" button, you should have the .fhm file underneath "FeralHeart>exports" (not under FeralHeart>media>terrain, that is the MAP file).
