Title: Video Making?
Post by: blueroseknight95 on March 05, 2012, 04:29:17 pm
Hey, I've gone onto YouTube and have seen other people's vids they've made in Feral Heart. So, I know it's possible. That's what I wanna do, but the Movie Maker still says "Coming Soon!". . . How can I make vids that are saveable to my computer, so I can make a GMV (Game Music Video)? My computer is an XP, and... idk. I've downloaded the actual "FeralHeart" game and such, yes. Sorry, I'm just really distraut over this. >_< I'm at a loss. Is there someone who can help a wolf out?

That doesn't actually save the video to your computer or anything, you need a screen recording program to put it up on YouTube.

Ok, I was trying it out and that's what I've been doing... Do you have any ideas on what recording program I can get for free, and which one's best? My dad's a cheap-skate, y'see. He hardly agreed to get a lap top. -_-"

Crap... Well, I'll see what I can do. But, I asked, because I'm pretty good at downloading BS that screws my computer completely up, so... I'll see what I can find.

I use Fraps and Debuts so you can try those. Fraps isnt free though so you only get a limited time to record until you register and buy it. But im sure if you take a look around the internet you'll be able to download a fully bought/registered version of it.......for free. I know i did ;)

Yeah, I found CNET. No clue if it's any good, or if it'll crap out my computer. It says it's safe, but... that doesn't really mean anything, right?

Ok, I'll have to get on my computer. I'm on my dad's at the moment, so... I'll be sure to download something called CNET. Hopefully I can figure out how to use it, right? X3

I use cam studio and fraps, but fraps is a little silly because you only get 30 seconds to record before it cuts out. Cam studio is free but I don't think it is too good quality if memory serves correct (I haven't used either in a bit.)

If you have the purchased, registered version of Fraps then you get as many seconds as you like.

If you have trouble with CNET theres lots of tutorials on the web that can help you out. Be sure to take a look at them, they help ;)

Yeah, Cam Studio is making my computer lag HORRIBLY. I mean, I've used it before, but... Gaw, I'm almost tempted to record with my iPod. But, I'm looking at Debut Video Capture. I'll see what I can do with it, and see if my dad will quit being a turd... I swear, he's on his male evil time of the month. -_-"

I use fraps and im pretty happy with it, theres a special button u can press to record once the like 30s is done, so this way u can keep recording and then just add all the files together in like windows movie maker and then u have 1 long movie :P

Stupid computer, a system restore can stuff up all of your favourite programs. (For me anyway,  thats getting off topic imma stop)

The thing i dont like with Fraps is you can only record something in a window, you cant record your whole screen. The videos are also very large files, the largest i had was 1.57 GB.

Another program, which is more for showing others what you are doing is LiveStream. While it is more for LIVE streaming, it does save your videos if you want on your computer, and you can always convert these to a video format :)

UPDATE:
I have decided on Fraps. ^^ It's pretty good so far, all I have to do is get the hang of using the darn thing.

Fraps is the best way to go if you want quality on your clips. The big file size is pretty much because it's a raw file, it doesn't really get compressed at all, hence why it requires some computer power to record with it.

In general I find Fraps very stable and reliable for screen capturing and anyone can get a hold of the free version.

Ok. ^^ thank you for help. I'm blonde, y'know. -_-" (strawberry blonde) I don't function with brain power and common sense. (this is sometimes, by the way.)
